    Great video.
Also, 20 minutes walking west from the city center is the Kalkberg - a 56m-high hill with a pretty cool view from it towards Luneburg.

And I thought that only Segeberg in Schleswig-Holstein had such a geological wonder. It is natural gypsum that is pressed up in a big "bubble" from layers deep underground.

wow, I have been watching your videos for years and I'm actually born and raised in Lüneburg! - I always have to remind myself that the architecture in town isn't normal because I don't know anything else

    Fantastic video of Lueneburg, Germany
Fantastic scenic view of Lueneburg and excellent
description of all the sights to see, and the fact that
this town was not destroyed during WW II.

If you visit Lüneburg, don't miss the Heide-Park, 50 minutes away by car. One of the best theme parks with some of the best rides in central Europe.

Yes, the nature around there is just gorgeous. Really relaxing

+woltersworld Im not sure if youre speaking about the same thing. While the Lüneburger Heide is an amazingly beautiful place, the Heide Park is something like Disney Land, imho not very relaxing or cultural but still offering a lot of fun.

To make salt beef in the middle ages you needed about 1 part of salt on 7 parts of meat. Fish was pickeled on a 1 to 3 ratio. That stuff lasted for years in wooden casks but had to be rinsed in clear water over and over again before it was edible again. Butter was preserved with salt as well. Before eating it had to be kneaded in pure water so that the salt was extracted by diffusion. All that you can learn in the "Salzmuseum". The average European in the Middle Ages ate about 7 kg, that is 15 lbs, of salt per year, that is more than we do despite our chips, crisps and other unhealthy stuff that makes fun.

Excellent guide as always ! I have visited Vienna and Prague and i plan to visit Gent and Bruges in the summer. In general i like to visit walkable towns with great architecture and Lueneburg seems to be one of them. If you have any other suggestions for not too big towns with beautiful architecture, i am open to suggestions :-)

Just a small hint for travellers. Ther is one Building in Lueneburg where an old cannon ball stuck in the wall from the German French War from 1813. Ist quite hidden at the Johann-Sebastian-Bach-Platz.
