Well, Sennh sounds great in studio condition without pop filter. Rode sounds terrible naked. However when the dead cat filter in on, that’s a way different story. Sennh sound bumpy and dull while rode gets crispy and flat. I feel like rode took a huge attention to the fact it would be used in the field with the filter.
I’m pro engineer with over 20 years of experience.
Look. My verdict here is is:
If you do room recoding like interviews. Means no wind and no proximity issues, Sennheiser is a great deal.
In case you go out, field or smth. NTG4 is more natural sounding device. However you MUST use a windshield otherwise it would sound like crap. Use flat on original and use high frequency boost with dead cat.
To my ears mke600 is pleasant for voiceover and vlogging internally. Two mics are designed to the different conditions.
Rode gives 10 years, so internal battery fault is not relative. Batt would last long.
    Hope that helps

Great video, thanks! Which one do you think would be a better choice for birds photography? So it means distant voice. I know the regular NTG can be boosted +15dB so the pre-amp in my Canon R6 can be lowered, but did not find anyone, who would compare these in such a way.
From my understanding the MKE600 would mostly use the internal R6 pre-amp and the NTG would use it's own higher quality pre-amp. Did you ever try the NTG?

Thank you for the support! No, unfortunately I’ve never used the NTG nor do bird photography to know how well it performs from afar. That’s a neat feature though, most mics have a pad but I’ve never seen any that can boost!
My assumption is, if you’re shooting something from that far away, even if it can pick up sound well enough your signal to noise ratio might be pretty poor so the audio might still not be fully usable.

Mke 600 sounds better and the exchangeable battery is a big plus on set. Also: micro usb? Eew. Really? Rode didn't switch to USB C by now?

From what I remember they haven’t changed it. Though I did just do a quick Amazon search and there was one photo with what looks like a usb-c.
Doesn’t mention usb type in the description though.

@@SMBYopinion Would be a big bummer. I wouldn't buy anything with micro usb nowadays. But well ... I'm settled on the MKE600 anyways. Should work well together with the generic Rode shockmount for 3rd Party mics. Judged by how it looks it'll allow you to move the mic backwards a little bit in case you're using a wide angle lens.

The MKE600 is a great buy. Still using mine now!

Batteries degrade, swell, etc. having a non-replaceable battery is no bueno.

Sennheiser has more noise than the NTG4. But sounds a bit better...
