I think one of the best videos I've ever captured as well! Definitely a couple legends on this truck, made it extra fun following along and taking this footage. If only all clean-up action and crews were like this...
A great loader/driver team - Great hard workers! Though they could save time if they cleared the hopper before going to the next pick up - I used to do this job and it saved tons of time. Our wagon would pack whilst the vehicle was on the move.
This video is brilliant!. It looks like a special "bulky collection". I work on bin lorries(both driving and loading) and THIS is how we should be allowed to work especially the small standing platform on the back. Instead we have to walk/run between every stop so by the end of the day we are shattered and it's destroying our bodies.
Some funny friendly garbage mans out in Ryde one of them were holding these signs and one nearly put someone's bicycle in the truck outstanding video keep that up!

Our management at work would have a canary with you guys. No hi viz, shorts, handballing stuff into the hopper .... enough to get us London dustmen the tin tack lol
These steps can be folded upwards against the lifter frame and held in place if they're not being used. They only really get in the way a bit if you put 3 x 240L bins on at once, the other bins fit in between the steps no problem.
If we put anything like that at the side of the road in the UK we'd get a fine for fly-tipping. Any waste like that has to be taken to a Local Authority recycling centre.
So far all the bulk waste collections i the east all use manual labour........i've never seen any which use a bobcat or small front loader with a grabber attachment?.....but any way nice vid
The scavengers are usually out on the weekend doing a sweep for the larger whitegoods and valuable metals, the rest usually ends up in the mixed load unfortunately. Yep a very wasteful society we are unfortunately, gotta real get things sorted out (no pun intended) =] E-waste is slowly starting to get banned from landfill due to the chemicals and stuff in the components, recycling of TVs, computers, etc is starting to increase.
Boy, and people all over the world think US-Americans are wasteful but here is a video in Aussie of TVs, metal, etc that could be recycled but is being pitched.

Hi viz shorts/pants are not mandatory under OH&S law. You think you got it easy we getting a new OH&S law wearing Long sleeve Hi vis! Thats right 25-32C summer days wearing that to protect from "Skin cancer" More likely get heat stroke now!
I would not classify you as old. To me old is in your 70's! Do you want to be a Runner/Loader or Also a Driver? You are best to register at some labour hire companies under Casual position plus its almost high season soon they would need extra staff.
Looks like someone put something very hard in the hopper as the blade's edge in the middle is damaged some...or usage over the years but I haven't seen that with other RL's so I'll go with the former. Surprised there aren't more people picking up metal for recycling and some of the discarded items still looked good; tv's should be banned IMO and recycled because of their contents. Shows you what kind of society we unfortunately are.

I work with garbage truck here in aruba and the compactor isnt that slow...we use the mack mcneilus trucks..

There's a Ryde truck working in Fairfield permanently on clean-up. Should be a green one just like this and a white truck with a SITA logo.
AussieGarbo we have Suez now....but yes we had SITA and now our new ones are always very loud and then come at night. They also break down alot

looks like a free service in the us in the uk we have to pay £26 for upto 5 items then they moan about flytipping
