@Just F0X It don't buy complete speaker's from companies. I build my own. Calling someone a "Sony Fanboy" for saying that there is something better than JBL is stupid.
This is simply impossible as the circuit cannot handle such wattage and voltages. also that JBL speaker can put out 30 watts MAX and no more. the voltages running through those 12''s would blow that tiny speaker within seconds. There's a wire somewhere that he's not showing us, there has to be.
Nice experiment! Some considerations: a)Those boys are operating on free air conditions, so they will excursion quite a bit more than when enclosed; b)These subs operate with a relatively low power input, thus the amp will deliver what they need to excursion well-ish (i supose they are oldschool 12w0-4 125W; c)The amp is a Class D TPA3128D2 and this chip can deliver 2 × 30 W Into a 8-Ω BTL Load at 24 V, but of course the battery on the device operates on a lower tension. Probably 3,4V to 4,2V (1x18650) or the double of that, so the rated 30W for the single active driver makes sense and can push the subs. Keep on with the nice work.
Bass Tester MaksymHEX Not really if: you don't play it too much (because it's LFM), don't play it at max where it clips, and don't use speakers/woofers with lower impedance than the original Charge 4 driver
Depending on what series subs those are (really would like to know that information) they're wired down to either a 2 or 1 ohm load. The amp in the JBL Charge isn't rated for something that low. Also, you really don't need too much power to make a sub move. You can make it move with power well below the RMS rating of the subwoofer, but you will notice a lot of distortion and just poor sound quality once you get them in a box.
killeroliver1998 They're some old school 12W1-8. So 8 ohms each, 4 ohms parallel which is fine for the speakers' amp. It's true, you don't need much power to move a speaker that's rather high efficiency and has soft moving parts, but still I find it impressive for a small Bluetooth speaker to do this. OK, I'm impressed. Sorry for my ignorance, but how can this be applied to make a real world working audio system? First of all, is the Charge 4 stereo? Is there just one woofer? Does the internal speaker(s) reproduce the high end too? How would I connect the Charge to a pair of conventional home stereo speakers then? Thanks!
the Charge 4 has only one channel so you can only hook up one speaker to it, but of course it can be any speaker, bookshelf, floor standing, and it would surely sound better than the small built in driver. it plays all the frequencies yes. if you want stereo there's the Charge 3 option, but it only has 10w per channel which might not sound too much but with efficient speakers should get plenty loud. the 3 is also cheaper than 4. you'd connect them just like I did in the video, remove it's original driver, desolder the wires and solder the two wires from your bookshelf speaker
@@AudioCuriosity Thank you very much for the kind fast response! Very helpful! Ya, stereo is not really necessary if I will be using just for general music listening while working on stuff or a small party, etc.
