For the center tier- did the threaded rod get placed completely through or was a rod placed on either side? If one solid rod was used through this tier, how was it secured to keep the rod from shifting or unscrewing while being assembled? Thank you in advance!
They're called "wood insert nut". You can get them on Amazon, lowes, and home depot. Use a drill bit one size smaller the the insert nut. Then you just screw the insert nut into the piolet hole. You can use a drop of wood glue too, as you screw them into the wood.
This would be perfect for the dessert table at my fall/Halloween woodland themed wedding. I know it won't be until fall of 2021 but that gives a lot of time to diy some decor.

the threaded rod was epoxied in side a hold drilled about 2 inches on both sides.

was the timber Air-dried? Also, can you stop the slices of wood from splitting if so how please
