Another mystery. There is no way from the graph that the mega5est bass edition has more clarity and detail than that of the origin. Mega5est bass edition shows more upper bass, closely matches the mids, and has less lower and upper treble. There isn't any part (other than high mids 3-4.5kHz) above 300Hz where the mega5est is elevated above the origin. I just don't get it. Does elevating the 3-4.5kHz region 1.5dB give an iem more clarity and detail vs elevating any other region above 4.5kHz?
Maybe the Origin and the Cantor are complimentary sets for those with resources. Based on your reviews, both have something special but might be niche products.
Almost nothing in the top 20 is pure Harman or JM-1; that’s what a ranking list should look like. Unique sets that speak to the individual reviewer, and not a ranking list of essentially the same tuning with a different shell. The Estrella is a very good set for the price; but more than that it’s one of the few sets that released in the last few months that isn’t following the meta tuning target like a dog on a leash.
Great comparison choices.... How does the bone conduction alter the experience compared to other items? Seems like the penon fan 3 may be a better option or the Zempire if willing to spend a bit more
Please make that playlist public. Also I'm confused in your ranking mega5estbass has better bass but still better treble so basically that's better than this for most people?
I think it depends on what you think is better. The Origin is a specialist in Space and with a Bone Conductor value. I really like it a lot, but clarity and detail is just amazing to me on the Mega5 Bass. After a certain level it's hard to dictate what is better. For me Mega5est Bass is pretty great. List is public! tidal.com/browse/playlist/eca8c13e-3791-446e-98ef-a3288559961c
For the price I might just get the penon fan 3 and the mega5est to have the best of both worlds which the origins seems to not have been able to combine into one perfect package that I was looking forward to😢
Hey im new subscriber Can you help me choosing?. I love old school hip hop like 2 pac and biggie i want good slam bass iem for fun chill listen, but sometimes i dont want the bass disturbing other genre like anisong. I want some clear female voice and crispy detail too Should i take Thieaudio Origin or just go for Mega5EST Bass? Or do you have any suggestion, my budget is not over 1k
That's tough. I think the air, detail and trebble on the Mega5EST BASS are better. It's a better set, but the Thieaudio Orgin is a more fun set if that makes sense. Plus cheaper.
U sound like hbb, the voice modulation, the pace, the choice of words Ur videos look like hbb,, the camera angle, the gloves, U dont have his setup/area though You took insipiration from him ? Or its just you ? U Both have common things
Oooh, been waiting for someone to give us some info on these.
It’s a fun series. 🙏
Helpful review. Added to my list.
🙏❤️
Thank you Jaytiss. Between Thieaudio Origin, the cantor, and the Carmen, I wonder which one is the winner at the $800ish price bracket
I have all those at home. Should be a fun battle.
@@Jaytiss definitely interested in that video
Carmen by far
@@heyking8583 you’ve actually heard all 3? What ways is Carmen better?
Cantor for me
Thanks for the review.
🙏❤️
The way you speak, you have the tone and attenuation of Steve O
I actually get that a lot. XD
Thieaudio has got this huge range of IEMs now. I was thinking Origin will be their flagship.
Not at all, I don't think that they have one yet.
@@Jaytiss They have that Prestige LTD, I love that one haha.
The upper midrange is a finicky thing. Where you want the peaks and dips may depend on the size and volume of your ear canals.
Exactly, fit and sound is so subjective. I know some people say s12 is S+ tier. I wish it were for me. XD
Yes make that bass list public 😁😁😁 pretty please

How does it compare to UM Mest Mk2? Mest mk2 is currently on sale so it is close to this price range. Both have BC drivers.
Hard to say I haven’t heard the mest.
The Mest is a resolution monster so if his critique of the Origin's resolution is correct the Mest mk2 is a better IEM.
Ayyy, white glove treatment!
😀. Trying something new. Too much skin.
Too much skin, 🤔bwahahah
XD

You forgot to talk about the BC driver. That’s the only unique aspect of this set, and the only reason to consider purchasing this set.
Ohh wild I thought that I did. I remember mentioning it in my fit section. It’s actually a solid earphone despite the bc driver.
Maybe the Origin and the Cantor are complimentary sets for those with resources. Based on your reviews, both have something special but might be niche products.
I think that’s true. Both are very fun and different.
I'm sticking to my mest mk1 japan it has better resolution what a let down imma upgrade from mess to origin 😢
Wait can’t take this ranking list seriously with Estrella that high up on the list.
Have you heard Estrella?
I liked it. It’s special. Not perfect but had an engaging sound.

Can't you take islt seriously because of the iem it's self or because of the guy behind it
@@moonsofjupiter yea I’ve heard it. It’s mid at best and doesn’t deserve top praises.
Great comparison choices.... How does the bone conduction alter the experience compared to other items?

Yeah hard to say as I haven’t heard those. This is a very fun set if you can fit it.
How do they compare to any Fat Freqs you’ve tried?
The only fat freq I like better is Gm.
Are these better than monarchs? I’m on the fence about getting monarchs now or preorder these. Please halp?
Please make that playlist public.

Thieaudio origin or prestige ltd?
I got to listen to the prestige. It’s excellent. For an all arounder I’d say it was better.
For the price I might just get the penon fan 3 and the mega5est to have the best of both worlds which the origins seems to not have been able to combine into one perfect package that I was looking forward to😢
Unfortunately it was slightly disappointing.
@@Jaytiss Here's hoping you make a video on the tangzu bajie!
So does est together with BC mix up? Or how are a diffrence from 2 est and 4 est how much % more soundstage or what else better?
That’s hard to say. I didn’t take it apart. The bc is cool af.
@@Jaytiss but it can never reach fatfreq grand Maestro Bass quality i guess it Comes in there range
GM is a fantastic set, but also like so large of a shell it was hard to wear. This is more comfortable but slightly less resolution to say the least.
So are gonna return them?
Probably not. They are super fun. Just resolution isn’t exactly what I would want.
@@Jaytiss Have you tried different source/amp or a bit of equing?

CAN YOU ADD UM MEST M2 AND THIEAUDIO MONARCH M2 TO THE LIST.. PRETTY PLEASE
Monarch mk2 is on the list. It's an S-!
@@Jaytiss oh thank you…
Really disappointing that it’s detail and resolution aren’t great
It’s the weak spot of it. Not bad just not in line with some of the S tier items that I love.
What's a disappointment I'm sticking to my um mest
Awesome review.
There's no way AFUL will name the next IEM Origin, right?
We shall see! XD I know a guy who knows a guy who knows Yumu.

eh inspiration. The gloves are to help my auto focus. In super close ups it's kinda weird.
@@Jaytiss my bad 😅
Vs mmk3?
I like Origin much more. Just better bass, less crazy details. More meta less V shaped.
I want great separation and smooth upper range in the sound i think they should remake the Original Oracle i think it is still one their best
It's a good set for sure, I got to review it recently.
Remake it? Why? They still sell it.
