Airlines don't typically price their flights based on distance travelled. It is usually based on Origin-Destination or O&D markets. Back when business travel was a thing, most business travelers would only be going New York to Paris and back. Whereas Cairo is more of a leisure/low yielding destination. Also, another thing to notice is that whenever it is "high season" (eg. Christmas/summer holidays) for Economy Class, it is usually "low season" for Business Class. In addition, some markets such as ex-Manila typically have lower income (some company executives can earn USD low to mid 6 figures whereas in the US, they might be earning USD 7 figures) and airlines price their business class fares in such markets lower.

Some great tips and background on pricing there - especially with getting better business class prices during econony's "high season"!

Great video. Paris-Cairo isn’t exactly short haul. Europeans count 3h flights as medium haul already. And also these seats are being replaced plane by plane. The first one just did its first long haul to JFK.

Thanks for the clarification on the definition of "short haul" in Europe - will keep that in mind for future vids. Also glad to hear they are replacing those old seats. Hoping to fly AF again soon so I can check them out!

Food was great, but I am shocked that Air France still has Boeing 777 with the old non lieflat business class seats😢

Agree! Food is always awesome in Air France, but its so sad when I have to admit liking American Airlines' lie-flat seats way more than theirs :(

Most European airlines treat Cairo as a low yielding route. Lufthansa even puts their European business class (economy seat with middle seat blocked) on their Cairo routes!

Did this flight recently with full flat beds in business. CDG-Cairo was excellent full service. Return flight that departed at 1am even in business has no service at all until breakfast. Yes most may want to go straight to sleep but if looking for a light meal or even a sandwich snack after take off...no chance..nothing till the very poor offering at breakfast. worth bearing in mind if paying for a business ticket from Cairo to Paris.

Yeah those late flights are always tough, and definitely good advice for others to take into consideration!
