    Thanks for the video dude. Never would have thought it was a t40. Had to hammer it in on mine. Got a 95 as well. Need to weld the hinge back on but the door is just off for now.

    I just fought this fight on a 96 XJ. Took me literally 5 to 6 hours and so what I did to make the job a whole lot easier. I remove the fender you can get to the two boats that are real difficult through the hose and the door hinge. Yes is little work moving defender but a hell whole lot easier than fighting that stupid angle you have to get to

      Just reach in from the fender take out the inner liner if you still got it and that lil insulator they have in there and bam! No need to remove fender!

    Pro tip for removing door without holding it up and closed : You take off the t40 bolts from the inner fender .
    Those holes on the hinge are where the t40 goes thru inside the inner fender when the door is closed .
    just use a extension.
    This way works as well but if you wondered how they got the door on their ?
    without holding it up or assistance back in the late 90s and maintaining quality and production. The inner fender . Might seem odd but most likley they added the side pannel last already painted
    Ps. Might have to remove your wheel mudflap/skid plate whatever you wanna call it in order to see down the small iner fender isle

      Same with the rear door but the hinge holes are covered by some plastic cover .
      Take it easy compadres always remember they made the blueprints first before they made the car(most the time) so alot of stuff are secrets the are kept well. Especially since jeep sold itself to other companies and those small knuckle grinder and dirt in the eye , extra time conusuming preventer secrets died with it

      @@wildestcowboy2668 no it should work in theory. I didnt understand it either but just went and looked at the hinge on my xj again and understood what he means. He’s saying you can remove the same bolts when the door is closed by reaching inside the fender/wheel well if you will and the same t40 heads will be facing right forward. It doesn’t really seem that much easier though cuz you have to peel back and reach around mud guard and you’ll need extension and will be working from the floor

      If it’s power doors it’s heavy but the manual doors are lighter

    How you change pins

  • @agerwick
    @agerwick 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    Really, the only way to change pins is to cut off half of the hinge? Won't that make it weaker?

    • @theshawnwayne
      @theshawnwayne  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Seems okay to me, I’ve done it to ever Xj I’ve had so far

      @@theshawnwayne Duly noted. Thank you.
      But I don't seem to be able to get a pin online (I'm in Norway). I've seen a complete set of hinges on eBay, but my hinges are actually still stuck to the body so it seems a shame to cut them off to weld on a few set...
