Thank You, A Marmite subject but I am now convinced that for me this works and will run the trial version. thanks again for bringing it to my attention.
@@RobinWhalley I am very impressed with ON1 Skyswap free trial and have now purchased the software. I have found it very useful and so much easier than having to go through all of the steps to change an existing sky. I know that this is cheating bit the results are so good and easy to obtain. thanks again for your tutorial.
Thanks for this video, Robin, It was really very informative. I'm an ON1 user but I've never explored this feature. Principally 'cos sky replacement just feels like "cheating" to me, so, I've never been tempted to try it. This is just my opinion, tho; people can do whatever they like to their photos. I'm sure I do plenty of things my, very meh, photos that people don't care for. But, if it works for you, and you like it, all power to you. Having said that, if I was presented with your first example on flickr's photostream, I'm pretty sure I would never have guessed it had been run throught this plugin - I was quite impressed by that. And, I can now see how this technique/tool might enhance an image that was taken on a completely overcast day where not even a HDR image would be able to pull any detail from the sky. But your second and third images confirmed my "suspicions" about it how a tool like this dealt with reflections and difficult scenes. Well worth the watch. Thanks, Robin.
Yes, it does work in Affinity Photo. Strangely the results appear to be better with the images I showed in the video. No idea why. Yes, if they make significant changes I will probably use Affinity Photo next time but it doesn't really make a difference to the features.
You highlighted some of the issues I have with On1's sky replacement. I wonder if Luminar Neo or Photoshop would do a better job? However, part of the problem with your first image is that you chose the wrong sky. It doesn't blend convincingly with the buildings in the background in my opinion. Maybe fading it in more would work better!
Yes Luminar Neo does a better job but I'm saving that for another video. I agree that the sky doesn't blend well with the building on the left in the background but that's more to do with the mask than the sky. I did fiddle around with it separately and found I could create a convincing look by fading the sky out in that area.

You're very welcome. I'm glad that you foud it useful.

Thanks. I don't like using it either but I know that a lot of people do so I thought it would make an interesting review. I'm glad you liked it.
I see it works with Affinity will you be doing followup videos with affinity and fixes as time goes

I find Luminar Neo sky replacement works better and simpler than the On1 you demonstated. Perhaps their AI is better?
Yes, it does seem to work better on the files I've tried it with. I was saving Neo for a separate review.
