THE STAIN OF DISDAIN.
There's a worshiper in endless pain,
Striving industriously, eternal life to gain,
In secret sin, he lived in vain
To all church meetings, he went with the stain
Hoping on a fateful day, he would be a victim of the blessed rain.
Notwithstanding, no dark deed remains cloistered forever
Soon the chaplains, captains, and all the big brains unveiled a cleaver
To cut him off from the Lord's quicksilver
And deny him water from the eternal river.
We’ve heard that charity begins at home, yet as Christians
We deprive others of the church they call home, by acting hastily towards their misguided actions
Didn’t Christ save us, by giving His life on the cross for our sins.?
Why then would others seek to shut their brethren from the face of God, by shunning them for their moment of weakness and dissociating from them at the slightest opportunity?
The church is not a fellowship of sinless people! We are a fellowship of forgiven sinners; who by God's grace, are pursuing a life of holiness and obedience to our Lord.
We dare not fall into spiritual pride, by thinking that we are better than a fellow worshipper who has fallen into sin.
Borrowing from the thoughts of Brennan Manning, a renowned religious scholar.
"My deepest awareness of myself is that I am deeply loved by Jesus Christ and have done nothing to earn it or deserve it."
Because salvation is by grace through faith, I believe that among the countless number of people standing in front of the throne and in front of the Lamb, dressed in white robes and holding palms in their hands (see Revelation 7:9), I shall see the prostitutes from the brothels and streets in Nrb, who tearfully told me that they could find no other employment to support their young children.
I shall see the woman who had an abortion and is haunted by guilt and remorse but did the best she could faced with grueling alternatives.
The businessman besieged with debt who sold his integrity in a series of desperate transactions.
The insecure clergyman addicted to being liked, who never challenged his people from the pulpit but longed for unconditional love.
The sexually abused teen molested by her father and now selling her body on the street, who, as she falls asleep each night after her last 'trick', whispers the name of the unknown God she learned about.
The church is forever, a home for ALL. The blood of the lost impenitent child of God, at the expense of impunity from the elders, pastors, deacons, worshippers, and ministers like you and I, shall haunt our conscience forever. There's a stain in the church. Yes, the stain of disdain.
