I think this is really the point when we get to understand Kevin the most. In the Elysian Realm, we got a peek into his past comrades, but never really into him. It just showed what he lost, but not what drives him to still go against the Cocoon of Finality. Part of me thinks that the only reason he did anything anymore after his era’s end was simply obsession. There was no reason in his actions, in terms of rationality, from what I see. All that really was left of Kevin at the final boss was his identity as an overpowered hero who exists to save the world, and I think he knew that.
Late reply but the reason he kept going was probably because he was really pissed/frustrated with how their era ended. He thought that if he worked hard, he'd be able to protect everyone, especially Mei, but they all died/are lost(in space) and the only one "alive" from his era had forgotten most of their time together (Fu Hua). He just wanted to make sure that the death of his friends won't be in vain and that their deaths would have meaning instead of just being a bunch of forgotten heroes from the past. He also just didn't want to disappoint his friends, Elysia specifically, and show them that they were right in putting their trust on him(which is tbh, he's just being too hard on himself, FC members already know he did his best and it wasn't his fault)

@@jlee2302 These characters are all present in the hi3 story actually. Cocolia in this game is still alive, she usef to run an orphanage and is basically seele and bronya’s “mother”. She is the villain for i think 2 chapters in this game. Natasha is a mercenary in this game and works for an organization called gray serpent. She’s half a villain but not really i think and she goes by the code name raven. Seele is a relevant character in this game and is technically the mc for the current part of the story. She also has an alter ego inside her which is also called seele that’s why the game says seele twice. I am not sure about amber though but these characters all play a role in the Honkai impact story and are originally from this universe before star rail happened. There are other relevant characters im Honkai impact that are in star rail too like Himeko, Bronya and Li sushang.
