      Apple isn't even that overpriced. You can get the iPad Pro for around £600 but looking at them on different sites, they go from £500 and a used one or a 9.7 inch can go from £200. I mean Macs are a bit overpriced. But iPhones are worth it.

      That Wacom even outshines Apples price policy. Nice move Wacom.

      yeah but only iPad any other product is in my opinion overpriced, but Apple Pen feels so bad compared to Wacom/XP-Pen/Huion Pen.

      kinda ironic, paying 800€ which i did for my ipad pro 10.5" with the pen, is rather reasonable in my mind.
      the batterylife is better than any mobile phone i have ever used, it keeps up with all the latest games on IOS.
      heaps of great apps for drawing and other workrelated programs.
      the camera is rather shit.
      then we have the latest and greatest iphone, the most expensive one in that line costs like what 1800€? what does it have, a slightly better cpu, crappy battery and a better camera. oh right you can call people with it too.

    Have had iPad pro for going on a year now (with the pencil). LOVE it. It is truly a fantastic device for art and feels so natural. No regrets whatsoever with it. Procreate is a phenomenal app that lets you make custom size canvases and a huge amount of layers for your work and then you can easily export as Photoshop files or Procreate. iPad Pro rocks!

    One thing most of these VS. videos don't say (I have both a Wacom Cintiq and and iPad Pro + Pencil) is that because of the way the Wacom pen works (induction + Rfid) you can actually hover. This is a huge difference, well, at least to me. You can see exactly where you will draw, before you draw. Even with an old Cintiq with quite a bit of distance between the glass and the pixels, the fact that you can hover means your hand and your eye will coordinate and you will be drawing exactly where you want. The Apple pencil on the other hand has a bit of a flabby tip in my opinion, and I kind of can't get the same result. It's still great though, and the advantages of an iPad to a much bulkier and heavier Wacom tablet (don't have one of these) are lots, but at home I never prefer the iPad to the Cintiq. Well, that's my 2 cents worth of opinion.

    At 9:28 mobile studio pro lagged because you used a very complex brush. On sketchbook there arent so complex brushes, so it doesn't lag

    It's misleading to include Astropad as it requires an iMac to make that work. Similarly, while it's possible to produce artwork on an iPad, it still requires a desktop machine for post-processing, adjustments and so forth. I agree with the pencil form factor. I've never understood Wacom's preference for a thick stylus.

    • @andyH_England
      @andyH_England 7 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      John Matthias the advantage is you can afford both an iPad an iMac and have change compared to the Wacom. So that is fair. I suppose if you want mobility the iPad is the winner, due to battery life, weight and LTE and battery packs. Bearing in mind the iPad is a new product and Wacom have been doing it for years the iPad is pretty impressive. Easy choice for me the iPad and iMac combined over this Wacom.

    • @crescentbeach691
      @crescentbeach691 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      She mentioned a 2015 Macbook Pro. It was around $2300 new. Add that to the price and NO, you don't have change. You are spending a LOT more.

    • @bobbyright2010
      @bobbyright2010 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Crescent Beach yeah but the iMac 🖥 is around 1700$ starting so. 3000$ for something so low quality is insane.

    • @oscarjimenez3183
      @oscarjimenez3183 7 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      andyH_England errrrr... with all due respects, your math looks a bit odd to me. Here in Spain, the IPad Pro alone costs 920€ minimum and the cheapest I5 imacs and macbooks start at 1000€. That's a whopping 1900€ minimum. However, You can find the i5 MobileStudio Pro 13 with 4GB of RAM for 1580€, and the i7 8GB version for 1900€. A quick search in Amazon USA gives me almost identical numbers for every product mentioned, except for the fact that it's dollars versus euros and the euro is a more expensive coin so we Europeans are at a loss, but I digress.
      So, no offense, but where's that change to spare that you mentioned after going for the more cumbersome Apple custom bundle? Because I don't see any -and in fact, if you go for the i5 MobileStudio, THEN you'll have change to spare afterwards in comparison vs. the apples. Again, no offense, but unbiased facts are unbiased.

    At some point, Apple are going to have to put the iPad Pro digitiser tech into their 22 and 27 inch iMac. They don't sell huge numbers but they do for the arts / media industry and it could still be cheaper than buying a Wacom Cintiq 27HD...

      I am a "Working Pro" (Photographer) and dumped the Cintique late last year for the Astro/iPad combo and frankly have not looked back, it is a Godsend (with the caveats as referenced in the video). I use the 12.9 for home and 9.7 on the road. Biggest negative is that I still have to drag along my Macbook on out of town assignments. Indeed, I would love to dump my laptop and favour of the iPad one day (especially while on the road) and I believe that day is coming, Apple has intimated as such. It's just a matter of time before these tablets get the muscle to do all that we need to perform the tasks that we want. Frankly I am really hoping that Apple will port the Mac OS over to the tablet line up or that app developers produce native programs like Lightroom or PS for these tablets.

    • @Vall_Ey
      @Vall_Ey 7 ปีที่แล้ว +11

      I think the limit is from our self(I mean everyone else), if you just complain about the limit of the tool you use, its mean you are not professional yet. The professional artist can finish the job they get even just the cheapest tool they have. Sorry to say that but after saw bunch of painting that finished on iPP+Pencil, you just looks like make excuse of the limit you have been say.
      Except if you said that because you have been get pay as haters/trollers, you can ignore my word.

    • @eksdee6121
      @eksdee6121 7 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Vall Ey Actually the iPad does limit you with software, yes people have done professional painting/drawing on the iPad pro, but if you compare any of it to professional paintings/ drawings on MSP you would notice that the standard of work done on desktop software is much higher. As someone with an iPad pro I can tell you only a few apps have as many tools as desktop programs. (pro create and medibang come to mind) even if the end product is the same, the extra features on desktop programs allows the work to be far easier and quicker to do.

  • @tombombadilofficial
    @tombombadilofficial 7 ปีที่แล้ว +7

    Ipad is amazing, the only thing preventing me from buying it is the lack of professional grade comics illustration app. Id buy it in a heartbeat if it can run Clip Studio Paint. But I guess its not that powerful to be able to run full fledged creative programs, hence, the custom tailored paint apps.

    • @milphene
      @milphene 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Clip Studio Paint and SAI were actually the reasons why I opted for a Wacom instead of an iPad pro. I went for Wacom Cintiq Pro. The portability and ease of ipad pro sure is nice though.

    I love the video Lisa. In general for all TH-cam channels, I still don't understand why people are comparing a very optimised hardware and software package (Apple product) and a device running full blown Windows 10? O course the battery life will be less! The screen real estate point is to do with the casting app. Some of the screen isn't being rendered and (question about the app) is some of the work being done by the mac that PS is running on? And some on the iPad? 50/50%?

    I notice you got 'Filebrowser'
    :)
    Filebrowser and Notability are my bread and butter on the iPad for work.
    they work well together.
    now to find an app that does great web page/article capture for research purposes.
    using 'Screenshot' but on the look out for better apps.

  • @Katieemmaw
    @Katieemmaw 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    I don’t think it’s truly too comparable since they run so differently, but I know I love my iPad Pro a lot. I work managing social media and also doing digital art and the iPad is just so useful for my jobs as I definitely need to be snappy on some occasions. I love the portability honestly, I think if you purely want to make digital art, especially in the form of digitalised traditional mediums, rather than pure vector based work it’s wonderful. If you want all the extras that photoshop offers, or also do a lot of animating etc then the Wacom is the easiest choice. It’s all just down to preference and what you want to get out of the device :P

    I prefer the iPad Pro, price also plays a role as I can resell it faster to anyone vs a Wacom that only digital artists know about. I also prefer a Mac over the PC platform. My major hang up is I'm used to my adobe illustrator n photoshop workflow and also all about the fonts. Fonts are very important but are nonexistent in the iPad pros. Maybe one day these will be worked out by apple or even if Wacom become more realistic with their pricing because their products aren't worth the price they sell for now.

      While I agree that Wacom is the best way to go, there are plenty professionals that use iPad Pro for their work. Denying that only means you have your head up your ass. Wacom is still the industry standard but they won't be in just a few years if Apple keeps improving the way they do. As for playing Overwatch or Skyrim, most people willing to invest in a drawing tablet don't do it to play games. I'm certainly not going to waist my space on that nonsense.

    I'm sorry but the price of the Wacom just completely shuts down anyone on a budget. It's price is ridiculous. Procreate is an amazing app, I mainly do tattoo designs and tattoo illustrations and the iPad works great. I have the 12.9 inch with 128gbs of space, I'm actually paying it off 40$ a month. The pencil was 100, and the matte screen protector was 7$.

    • @Visual-Synthesizer
      @Visual-Synthesizer 7 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Kalvin Rosario dude that's crazy logic. u could replace the iPad with a sketch book for that workflow, its way cheaper and the iPad sucks compared to real paper and pencil. Enjoy the crappy screen quality of that mate protector. Sad u have to resort to things like that due to poor engineering by Apple. For only a few hundred more a person can get a i5 mobile studio Pro on credit from Wacom. Or just get an intuos and a cheap laptop, that's still better than the iPad Pro. Procreate is alright , but hardly worth dealing with the Apple hardware.

    • @fatesaintidv603

      Dani Joy Umm, with iPad Pro, you will have a lighter bag since you won't need those papers and pencil. Especially when you need to color the painting, which you need a lot of colors in your bags. So I think the iPad pro is a convenient tablet that you can replace paper and pencil.(Sorry for my English and this is just my opinion)

    • @Visual-Synthesizer
      @Visual-Synthesizer 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      yes but its still not nearly as good as pencil and paper. i have a small sketching kit that is smaller than the ipad pro's. never weighed it but all these things are so small i carry around my ipad pro and all my sketchbooks/ water colors in one small bag. plus there are water color kits that art smaller than a wallet! if im going to carry around a large tablet like the ipad pro, i want to be able to do all my business on it. unfortunatly, i can only do that on windows tablets because of the limited hardware RAM and iOS apps being very basic and limited. ever tried to use the a digital tablet for painting a landscape from life? they are horrible. the ipad gets very hot and you cant see the screen very well. plus the apple pencil feels horrible!

      cameras that most pros use, are priced between 2000$-20.000$ while photographers on a budget use either a mobile camera or a cheap 400$ camera.
      but then yet again. these tablets are for working pros and not for the ones on a low budget ;)

    The lag is more like driver issue... or photoshop issue with Wacom's driver... not the capability of Mobile Studio itself... in short, a bug... which is lots of people that use Mobile Studio has complaining about.

    It’s so sad because we are so close to a perfect portable LCD tablet. But Apple stubbornly sticks to its own IOS and omission of vital features like file management, Wacom can’t make computers worth jack, they are always behind in performance, breakdowns and battery life, even though they own the best pen tech, and Microsoft pen tech just can’t match even the Apple Pencil. So we are forced to use a Frankenstein workflow, with Microsoft laptop, with a Wacom tablet, to which we export from an iPad we can use on the go. Which I’m sure lets all these companies get their slice but it keeps that dream all-in-one portable Windows graphics tablet we want forever out of our hands,

    I'm wondering what resolution maxes out procreate? In photoshop I can work as high as my MacBook can handle, but Astropad wouldn't do the trick for me as I constantly use keyboard shortcuts. So procreate would be my tool on an iPad - but not if it was limited to for instance 2000 pixels or in that ballpark. Then I would rather sketch on my galaxy note and finish on my cintiq/mac-setup:p

    If you need a dedicated MAC to run professional programs on your ipad, then the ipad is not "pro" its just a touch/pen display. The wacom is an all inclusive professional computer. Wacom wins again, PC wins again. MAC = WAC
