yeah i hate people shitting on it, shows a bit of ignorance tbh because thats literally Sun Wukong, hes not a badass in the usual sense hes a parody of a badass, hes mischievous not mysterious, hes stubborn not determined, hes petty not righteous, hes an amazing character from the books and has a great arc but hes always been portrayed with a more scratchy high pitched voice which reflects that personality AND his monkey nature. Its absolutely fitting i love it.
Yeah, lore wise, Wukong always had a child-like, zero fucks personality who took nothing serious.

@@Unholy_Triforce sun wukong is a villain, he is one of the bad guys in Chinese mythology, he stole immortality from the gods and perverted their temples and sacred places, and even then he still stole more immortality until he became immortal 100+ times over, and the gods showed him so much mercy as he stole their magic and other artifacts, and they asked he change his ways, but he spat at them and literally pissed on Buddha when they met, so they buried him under a mountain for 500 or 5000 years, he literally is the bad guy
@@Sam_Falls you are somewhat incorrect in thinking he's a bad guy. In truth, he's closer to a gray area. For one, stealing immortality is only possible because they where being hoarded and kept by other immortals for the sake of controlling who gets what.
Let's start off with the real start of his rebellious actions.
This first started when the demon king of confusion kidnaps monkeys to use as slaves, and stealing their fruits. Sun retrieves them, and brings a weapon storage to help protect his people. He couldn't find a suitable weapon for himself, so he travels to the palace of the dragon king, after hearing they possess many treasures, and perhaps a weapon he could use. He, of course, obtains his Ruyi Jingu Bang, which they never expected him to actually be able to use. He was soon sentenced to death for "extorting" the dragon king palace. Then he wipes his name from the book that contains a;; of those who live and die.
The jade emperor had hoped to reel him in by giving him a position in heaven. As a stable boy. the lowest position, which obviously frustrated Sun. He returns home, leaving heaven. He starts to call himself "The great sage, heavens equal". Heaven reluctantly accepts this title, to superficially appease his vanity. They invite him back to heaven, giving him the new job as guardian of the peach garden. He soon discovers there is a banquet, that he isn't invited to. He then discovers his role as guardian is simply seen as someone who tends to the peaches. Agardener, if you will. The lack of respect made him much more defiant. He sneaks into the palace, drinks wine, eats peaches, and steals them as well along with pills of immortality before going back home. Of course, the jade emperor sends 100,000 soldiers, and 33 of the strongest deities. From the start, the deities saw him as a clown, a pet. To top all of that off, he's fed iron pellets and molten copper and food and drink while sealed. On top of THAT, once he is released, he's forced to wear a headband that tightens and causes unbearable pain if he disobeys? The gods were never once sincere in their efforts to change him. they looked down on him from the start.
Also, about the pissing on Buddha thing, you leave out important context. He didn't know it was buddha, or even a person at all. Specifically, he pissed on what he thought was 1 of 5 pillars at the end of the universe. In truth, it was his fingers. So no. He isn't the bad guy. He's arrogant, and vane. But he never did anything actually villain worthy
