Zach Baun went stupid in his first game with Philadelphia, 15 tackles and 2 sacks. Would love to see the tapes on him. Solid analysis, well done as always.
These things aren't mutually exclusive. Nakobe did well to get a hand on the ball. It was a terrible throw, though, by Love. If he'd led Doubs and hit him in stride, rather than throwing behind him, they'd have had a completion.
Jalen Carter doesn't stop going till the play is over, he did the same last year. He had some great 2nd effort run stops way downfield. Great football player. Character issues, effort, conditioning issues. He totally silenced all that with the way he plays the game. Impressive guy on the field. Zach Baun just had a breakout game, this guy deserves his own video. Dean has physical limitations, but he plays high IQ , sound football which for the Eagles is well enough, fine enough. The defensive line is needs Bryce Huff to play at the level he was at the last two years, he certainly didn't look it against the Packers. Got stonewalled a bit too often, not at all the caliber pass rush he's shown the last two years.
You can't really judge pass rushers on a field like this, so it's hard to criticize Huff and the others. We need to see them on a football-worthy field.
Im loving this defense. just wait till they start to gel EVEN MORE. You can tell that the defense is tight group and i LOVE it. Q is HIM as well. Baun was absolutely incredible. Fangio saw it in him and went after him. He spoke HIGHLY of him in all of the press conferences. Im so hyped! Keep these videos coming so that we stay hyped lol
The crazy part is that these are all second and third year guys! They’re gonna get better after every game! These boys are going to dominate the league!
So many pieces are upgrades. For one Fangio scheme bent but did not break despite the early being backed up. Every stop they needed they got. Dean and Baun in Fangio scheme were everything I hoped for. I called Baun signing our Nigel Bradham of 2024 because it’s an underrated vet in a great scheme fit and he BALLED. Dean sliced so many plays apart even if he didn’t make the tackle and almost had that pick. QUINYON. I was so hyped on that pick and he did awesome for rookie CB getting moved around due to Rodgers injury. Carter is still a beast. Very very happy with what I saw despite some busts and misplays. GB is a very good team and I thought this could be a pre match of the NFC Championship Game.
Id love to see a breakdown on the edge rushers in this game. I feel like all 4 of them were mostly MIA in this game but I dont have film to go back and see what exactly happened with them. I know the sloppy field might have played a part of the lack of splash plays but then you see Baun out there running around and making big plays so I dont know if we can give them a pass or not.
I appreciate you for your content man helps out a lot, I would say giving that Love gave the ball up so fast in 2-3 seconds, given the situation the QB holds the ball any longer, Pass rush defense will explode and make sacks all season, looking like some special coming go birds 🦅
A lot of people didnt know that two years ago Vic Fangio was consulting Jonathan Gannon… So we saw this modified nickel/43 shift defensive scheme the year we went to the Super Bowl … It’s good to see it back in Philly !!!
I was actually worried about the defense, not the offense. And they surprised me. They saved the game holding them to two consecutive field goals on short, turnover, drives. That rookie CB looks legit. If they can continue to get better, it’s just up to the offense to get a rhythm and cut out the goofball plays. Jalen cannot throw interceptions in the red zone. Absolutely not. He has got to be better. If he can cut down on this turnovers he will be back in MVP contention. If not the offense will be frustratingly off-rhythm just like last season. If I were the OC I would be running the ball as much as possible to set up the play action for Smith and AJ. I think people forget that this offense is great when they run the offense through their backs. Barkley is that dude, give him the ball. Let the o-line do what they love, smashing defenders while blocking for Saquon.
I enjoy the way you break things down ... As a former QB, I would enjoy you doing that with Jalen Hurts decision-making when he is passing, RPOing, and running ... Also, there is quite a bit of talking before Hurts actually runs a play ... I would really like to know what that talk is ... I can guess, but I would still like to know ...
With some of the LBs struggling in pass coverage, Ben Vansumeran will maybe get a shot in nickel? Also, some extra pieces, such as Sydney Brown, Isaiah Rodgers, and Devin White, are coming back. This defense looks so much better already!
Most of us fans were skeptical about our LBs. they really played solid. Honestly I wasn’t upset with our defense at all. They played really well considering being put in bad spots several times. That GB wr is electric, wouldn’t be surprised to see him in an all pro uni at season end.
This Defense Is light years ahead of last year . More discipline Better tackling A few mental mistakes Excellent effort against a Good team. Baun Carter & CJ Physical & My Guy QQQQQQQQQ Rookie looked Amazing 🤩
I thought the eagles played way better defensively compared to last year. The big problem im seeing is tackling. Eagles have to be better at securing tackles
Great breakdown. Kudos. I think that a year ago, the defense would not have been able to cover for Jalen Hurts' mistakes as they did this game. In fact, if hurts doesn't fumble in the red zone and have those interceptions deep in green bay territory. We would be looking at a blowout likely score of eagles defeating Green Bay 45-17
A lot players on both team was were slipping on the field..take a grain a salt as this is the first game. Plenty of improvement as the season goes. It’s a long season.
The first play of the game.. the reason Jordan Davis got in that back field was because the entire DL slanted left.. if you look they all take one step to the left so the guard was trying to crash but missed because of the step left.. had nothing really to do with Jordan .. except maybe the guard over played because he knew how big Davis is so he over played
Eagles struggles last year came from the inability to trust the defense. That final 7 minutes drive to seal the game does not happen in 2023 as the offense feels like they HAVE to score knowing the other team will. That final drive was a 2022 masterpiece and they did it knowing this defense already stopped them three times in the red zone. Watch out NFL.
I agree bro I’m worried, the field is a big factor but man they were invisible on the edge. Luckily we’ll have better DB play this year but if you give an NFL QB too much time they will all carve you up at some point.
That field was an absolute embarrassment the NFL did the Eagles dirty twice in 3 years and one other games was in the super bowl the defensive lineman could not get thee footing both team's anyway i digress Fly 🦅 Eagles Fly
Main concern is health. These guys need to stay healthy on the D line and LB. Not too much depth there, but as they are healthy, they look like they're going to be dawgs.
I know Eagles fans consume the most media but fuck.. you’re allowed to be a little critical of an overall pretty shitty defensive performance, particularly Dean who looked laughable at times.
Packers missed so many easy TDs and wide open passes. Jordan Love is so overrated. Packers win this game by 10 if Jordan Love could make a basic pass. My Niners are still way better.

I loved the breakdown of that Dean pass deflection. The commentators blamed that on Love, but the tip really made that pass so much harder to catch.

Jalen been playing like that since highschool, I still got the vid from the hs championship game
He was a complete animal this game and hope to see more of it!!!!
Jaylen Carter caused a fumble during the Tampa Bay game, where he chased down the receiver, then punch out the ball from the backside.
@@Mmm_Feminist_tears in epic fashion too. He disengaged from his double team, saw the ball carrier, Superman punch, Eagles ball.

Jalen Carter was held the entire game.
having bad footing always leads to OL having more time to get there fittings and grip.
I keep getting distracted watching CJ Gardner-Johnson go nuts on every play and run his mouth, so glad to have his energy back
Rookie Mitchell was doing same lol love it
Yeah he brings the edge you need in the secondary.
After Dean had that big hit, sweat ran over to the guy like Chris tucker in Friday "DAMNNNNNNN"

So happy to see Nakobe taking that next step. Definitely an improvement. Baun is a clear upgrade. Need Trot Jr to get involved.
He was great in the preseason and should be involved overall
Trotter Jr. should get a chance in good time. Let's be patient for his turn

Fangio's scheme is what Gannon's scheme tried to be, with respect to bend don't break. Really impressed as well with how they performed.
That bull rush from Carter at 6:40 is just pure domination to the highest degree. holy cow

Saquon had 26 touches last night you cannot keep up dat pace for a 17 game season he’ll get hurt or be burned out come January
