One moment that truly sets Happy Chaos apart from other "madman doing what he wants" antagonists is around 41:00, when Daryl deduces he doesn't actually _need_ to keep the world leaders hostage in the White House for anything. If it was someone like the Joker, he'd probably blow Daryl's brains out on the spot. But Chaos relents and allows them to be rescued, even though the gun Daryl's pointing at his head probably wouldn't leave a mark, just because the back-and-forth exchange of victories and defeats is more exciting to him than bloodshed or despair.

Genuinely, Chaos was, unexpectedly, the character in Story Mode I related with the most. Part of that is definitely from his theme. It showcases parts of his personality we don't really get to see in Story Mode, but he's also fantastic within Story. Besides just being an incredibly *fun* character, I kind of love his self-hate. As he says - He's a wax figure. He feels that he is missing something fundamental from what it means to be human, and his entire motivation in the story is to try and help I-no discover what *she* thinks is missing. The whole of Story Mode is, in a way, one big fucked-up parable created by Chaos to try and save a single girl. That doesn't make him a good guy - He is very much a murderer - But it does give you... Perspective? He kind of reminds me of Q from Star Trek, in that way. He has valuable lessons to teach, but he's also childish, and the fact he's so old and powerful makes him very nonchalant when playing with human lives. Chaos's greatest fear is that other people will end up like him. You get this reflected in his theme, too, with the lines "Two Hundred Eyes on Me / There's a Hundred of Me" and "Hundred Mouths they Speak of Me / Hundred of Me will be Born". He's just - He's this fascinating paradox of a character. He genuinely loves humanity, but he has no problem with tampering with someone's free will, or even killing them outright. He's aimless, but he also claims to be "More than 100% pure human desire". He's enjoying himself, but he also talks about himself as if he's an abomination. He claims that he has no motivation, but he also believes that everything has a purpose.
@@firetarrasque4667 I wanted to get into the story mode, after leading of arcsys through FighterZ’s success. The lore is just so _much,_ though. That speech about creating the strongest shield hits really hard. Because he says he's do the strongest sword to achieve it, only to later say that he's a wax figure and he doesn't have any motive, it's as if he's using some universal logic, but he's excluded of such logic, as he's not really human anymore
