  • In this video I'm removing some old shower shelves that were fitted badly and were really beyond repair. Fitted a new shiny chrome wire shower shelf to a ceramic tiled wall and siliconed up the holes.

Would it not be better to put grout in the old holes, even if the colour doesn’t match? I say this because I am thinking that its better to align the holes on the grout lines as then they will be easier to disguise later if the shelf is removed or changed..

Are the anchors in the tile or past the tile and into the wall board?

I know this is old but did you silicone over the new holes too before attaching the shelf?

Not sure if your question ever got answered, but yes silicone in the new holes as well. This will ensure that they will not get water behind them.

Hi Andy, question for you. Were these walls plasterboard behind the tiles? Question about possibility of a rawl plug red/brown through tile. Would the depth of the tile and plasterboard be enough for a rawl plug like that to sit tight and secure inside? Be grateful for your insight

Hi - can't remember for this one but as you've gone about 20mm of tile, adhesive and plasterboard that's generally plenty for a little red plug with a lightweight shelf like this where almost all the force is shear anyway. 👍

He used two plugs in each hole, so should be plenty deep..
