The best thing about this show is that DJ Premier has such an impressive catalog that we can be here for years discussing his classics.

I loved Bahamadia's music. It was smooth but still lyrical and she never had to sell herself to get recognition. A true gem in the 90s.
I feel Bahamadia was held back, because she didn’t have the commercial type “look” that the masses were coming to expect from women rappers at the time. The Kim’s, Foxy’s, Amil’s, Eve’s…Shame, she was an incredible talent. THB is a classic record.
I wonder how her flow would had been if she'd did some work-out with Jeru.

yeah, this is something I don't enjoy. Real organic stuff is usually crowded out by mass market. This happens even in politics etc. Bahamadia was breaking out just when Bad Boy etc were coming in and realizing they could make big money from the masses. Not that I didn't like the Eve's etc, but as a hip hop connoisseur in Kenya, I had to dig independently to find the Bahamadias. The Roots, Fugees etc broke out a bit internationally, but generally most of their type were crowded out. There's an artist from Detroit that I loved, called Mae Day. She's nice but totally unknown.
Bahamadia is one of the most underrated emcees period! Male or Female.

Me and my dude Whiteboy John.. all day on repeat. He had the single with “unknowhowwedu”. He came for the instrumental but I convinced him to stay for the Song. Bahamadia voice was is so sultry and infectious🔥🔥🔥💪🏾💙 add that to that pounding drum and baseline. Instant vintage. Salute Bahamadia.
Bahamadia and CL Smooth would have been terror on a track. Either by Pete or Preem. They had the same cadence and vocal inflection. She is a legend forever and always. Philly stand up. And eternal blessings to the Queen.

THANK YOU! This is one I’ve been waiting for. Love this song. Love this album. Personally, Bahamadia is my most favorite female rapper. This is one of the very few premier produced tracks without his signature cuts. And this song didn’t need them. The hook, the delivery, the sounds and the concept was PERFECT. Excellent episode!
