I like the point of "You didn't tell them?" - "I thought they heard" because she's paying attention to him, unlike the rest who just ignore him
Trying to figure out what Yamada's thinking just by her actions while we get none of her actual thoughts is one of my favorite parts of the show. The show makes you think she's a ditz and an airhead but really she's very crafty and good at noticing things about Ichikawa than you would realize.
But also she has her own insecurities and worries, so she's more like Kyotaro than he realizes.
Yep one of the reason why I love the manga of this show we the reader's were trying to figure out what yamada was doing her antics if it had meaning or she was just like that but as the story progressed we realized she did has feeling for him. The author did amazing job not showing her inner monologue making us curious what she really is feeling it's just wonderful writing not many romance anime does it.
Nah you're right. For me this is also where I started to notice she is DEFINITELY making moves on him. The elevator scene, the stare....she's not treating him like some other guy friend she has. This is different lol

13:10 They are referencing manga published by Akita Shoten, the publisher of The Dangers in my heart. That's why they also could show an original drawing of Baki, or mentioning Mitsudomoe, another manga by Sakurai Norio, the artist behind The Dangers in my heart. As far as I remember, the depiction of Akita Shoten's office is pretty accurate in this episode, even down to the elevator's sound.
"Aww, you don't have an umbrella. You can't share a raincoat." Yamada took that bet. Also, the trip is to Akita Shoten, where both BokuYaba and Baki are published, so it wasn't much of an ordeal to get the original manuscript in there. Beastars is done by Baki's mangaka's daughter, so, same deal.
This is EASILY one of the most feel-good and wholesome school romance anime I've ever seen.

Yamada is more mature, but she's still a teenager in love, so even though she's more direct, she gives these signals with double meanings.
It can also be seen how he is becoming more and more interested in Ichikawa and gives him more attention.
Baki and Beastars are from the same publisher as this manga, that's why they can namedrop them unlike the Jump titles.
Also, Baki's author is the father of Beastars' author.
Not her love for Ichikawa becoming trackable by her actually giving him a full snack lol from trash to snack is what he's become

The more I watched the show and read the manga, the more I'm realized that Yamada is a total menace xD
I think she wanted to share umbrella with him but he rides a bike to school so he wears raincoat when it is raining that's why she had to make another plan to be able to capitalize the fact that it was raining to do something that has something to do with him (can't share umbrella so I'll wear his raincoat instead). I'm really glad to see that you really enjoy this series I know I keep saying this but I really mean it.
Guys watching this, we desperately just want to know what Yamadas inner monologue is 🤣 She definitely isn't a ditz, just born in a beautiful form that just as insecure as Ichikawa. These two are made for eachother 💥
