I keep seeing people say there doesn’t seem to be a major conflict this season when the issue has been stated since the first episode of the season. THE CONFLICT IS THE GOLF COURSE. It’s still affecting them and their neighborhood, and it’s not done being built. They talk about it damn near every episode. This golf course could possibly affect them even more in the future. We currently only have 11 episodes out now with the 12th premiering tonight. We still have 10 more episodes left to flesh out what’s going on with the golf course and how it’s going to affect their neighborhood and their school. Another possible issue that could arise is the district finding out about the school taking bribes from the people at the golf course.
Yeah every season has followed this same formula. Season 3 was a little different because Janine at the district was such a major part of the story but for the most part, we spend episodes just doing regular school shenanigans and then bring in a major conflict every now and then. I honestly think this golf course storyline is just the writers respecting our intelligence. They know we understand what gentrification is and its negative impacts, so they're not hammering it into our heads by making it this constant back and forth between Abbott and the golf course (which would also be unrealsitic). They went a different route and showed how the characters used the situation to their advantage with the bribes. And not only has that brought Oseans character in for Ava, but also, as you said, it's a looming concern in the background that they're gonna get caught for this.
I’ve been feeling like it’s been missing something too can’t put my finger on it… possibly bc Janine and Greg are together we might be missing that slow burn a bit but idk
i think its because we got used to janine messing everything up then learning her lesson and greg and janine get together story and now janine is a little less chaotic and already with greg.
I think this season has been missing some conflict and sum major plot point affecting the school, students. In the past season's we had funding and charter school conversion. This season doesnt have really a major problem affecting the school compared to past season except the golf course and even then didnt really seem to affect the school that much.Not to mention janine and Gregory romance was something we been waiting for. Bt after we finally got it seems like everything is perfect despite Janine getting jealous, Gregory not communicating, making assumptions of Gregory and not listening to Gregory. I feel they tried to give us Ava and O sean but seemed 1 dimensional in this episode with Ava focusing on the money rather than emotions. Also didnt lile how cruel Ava was toward Janine for no reason felt like they reverted her character development. But yea i agree Phil something feels off and this felt like a small callback to season 1 &2.

I think they are cementing Barbara’s exit. They've been hinting at it but this is the first time Barbara said it out loud.
