When I was a kid, I watched my dad play this game everyday he came after work, I saw it with my own eye when he finished the game. Now i always play MGS games because of him. Then when MGS2 came out it was up to me to finish this game. same with 3 and 4 now I can't wait for Revengens and Ground Zeros. I'm doing this for my dad. R.I.P Dad.

you can't call yourself a gamer if you didn't worship this game. The first MGS is the greatest video game of all time because it's the only one that truly makes you think about important things in real life. It is emotionally intoxicating, action packed, well written, amazing score, and extremely educational. I wish people who don't play video games would be exposed to the Metal Gear series because you will not be the same again after playing through them, gamer or not. They are simply amazing..

Greatest Music to show an emotion in the history of all gaming. And to use it for the final car sequence was amazing. Will never forget this game nor will I ever forget the last 10 minutes of it.

I actually remember getting the old Playstation Magazines with the demo disks. That is how i very first heard of and played MGS. The demo ended once you found the darpa chief. Been a fan ever since. Thumbs up if you were one of the people who very first played MGS on that demo disk. Its been quite a few years since then, where the hell does the time go??? lol....
The music you hear inside the cell that holds the DARPA chief's dead body is the "Docks" music. The musi c you hear in this video is called 'Escape'. It appears during the part when Gray Fox makes his last speech.

Man, I love this music. The first time I ever played MGS Gray Fox became a big favourite of mine I obsessed over it lol. But when I actually saw him die in the end it actually hit me since I was young. This music fit the mood perfectly, as it does show the Rage snake is going through and the grief he is enduring.

@kspatriot92 Just because you LIVE in a war zone, does that mean you are a soldier? Some people have seen things you or I would never see. Soldiers go into the battlefields, fight the battles, and risk their lives so people like you and me can live lives. I just give nothing but respect for that kind of bravery.
That gets thrown around nowadays, and you can say that about the rest of the series but not MGS.Back in 1998 there was nothing like this game. If you played this back then and it didn't blow your mind then you can't truly appreciate video games. MGS4 made lose interest in the series but i still regard MGS1 as the greatest video game i have ever scene, it's flawless in my eyes and an undeniable mark in video game history.

Metal Gear Solid it's a great reflection of a lot of topics. Along with Suikoden, Shin Megami Tensei, Driver and maybe GTA it's my fav sagas. Great soundtracks in MG 2: Solid Snake, MGS1, MGS2, MGS3 and a few good ones in MGS4.

2 Things: Solid Snake was the FIRST character in the metal gear series, so everyone is accustomed to him. Second: Fox died in Zanzibar, but they recovered his body to experiment on him. If you played MGS1 however, then you know that Fox didnt simply die-he was smothered by the leg of Metal Gear REX, leaving no traces of his body behind, so they wouldnt be able to clone him or bring him back to life.

fox wins because his story is more tragic. aiden was eventually able to live a normal life for a while; Fox's life was taken and kept from him since he was 6 years old. He remained, as quoted, a prisoner of death and war his ENTIRE life.
Should've said "fix", not "experience", lol. But anyhow, I could see how you could think that about many parts of MGS4, but the fact that you could play the game seemingly pretty much any way you wanted to really scored some points on me. Especially since I could do it while listening to Theme of Solid Snake in-game.
Thats exactly how i think of it as. Its an awesome game but then most of the time i play them over and over just to see the cutscences b/c they are so long sometimes now and i just sit there with my popcorn and watch it and play it until another cutscene come in.

Well one of the trailers shows Metal gear REX with Snake inside obviously fighting a RAY piloted by Liquid(Ocelot). So we are gonna have a kickass story for sure. But double signed they should use this music!

@yuggothian It's called The Naked Sample. It could be a DS version of MGS3, a remake of MGS1, remakes of MG and MG2...you get the idea. It could also be a tech demo because it's called The Naked Sample.
The dead in the original was already tragic, but yesterday I saw first time the remake death of Fox, when Rex crushed him to the wall and the blood splashes all over the wall... that was a damn tragic scene...
hedio kojima is a genius . i have played all but 2 mgs games . the first 2 in 87 and 90 i didnt play but i was never disappointed with any of his games . the music sucks you into the action . this escape music is badass. solid snake 4 life
Do remember that Revolver Ocelot sold Metal Gear's plans on the black market. ANYONE could make a new metal gear if they wanted to. Thus setting up a plot for another game. Although it will either feature a new character or Raiden cause I can't imagine Snake coming back. T_T

@eviltreemonster Yeah, but this was just before the fall of Zanzibar Land in MG2 when they were in Big Boss's Mercenary army so they had no chance to go into battle. They were extensively trained in VR missions though so they were excellent soldiers.
