I'm so glad some of those have a spark of life. I found the old steamers after I emailed you. And I'm sorry I threw in a dummy. Oops. As for the Via, here's the story: I found that shell and that engine both loose in the box, so I did what anyone would do, and jammed the shell on. So they might not be a match. You can keep the engine without wheels and shell for parts. I have no need for it. Hopefully you can get at least 10 working and keep 5. Last thing, if you keep the Triang, I have some cars to match the coupler on it. Thanks for doing this! -Mark

Honestly I don't think the dummy engine was manufactured like that because all the wheels have contacts and gears. The via's bachmann body is not an exact much however usually with a bit of carving they can be made to fit.

Lima? My fourth loco was a Lima C,B&Q GP30. Didn't work, so I returned it. The little thing was pretty nice though. I had narrowed it down to a problem with the connection to the motor, as the light went on steady when it got power, but the motor was silent except for one time when it sparked to life for a second.

looks like the Triang Hornby steam Locomotive is a fowler 4f. Not sure but it is sharp for a 50 year old european train. i'd take it and give it a tender. and i know british trains very well. Hornby is very easy to restore if you know what your taking apart

Those old diesels most likely have 3 pole motors and will not run very well at slow speeds.

SMTmainline I need some help. My HO scale Canadian national steam locomotive 2-8-2 is cutting out on the track and it tends to stop on the track. And if you look while it goes there is blue sparks coming out and I smell something burning. It’s not my track. I just got the locomotive July 5 2019 It was at a thrift store. Can you help me ??
