When fires ravaged the smoky mountains, she guaranteed each family who lost a home $1000 a month for 6 months. She gave $1,000,000 of her own money to speed the COVID vaccine development, and (my favorite of her good works) she started the Imagination Library - originally guaranteeing each child in Tennessee a book a month until age 5, now it’s spread to 5 countries and gives over a million free books each month. She began it in honor of her late father who never learned to read or write, but whom she says was the smartest man she ever knew. Dollys gifts to the world are so many and varied, but I think it’s her generous heart and humble spirit that I love the most.
FYI: Dolly wrote & recorded "I will always love you." Most people associate the song with Whitney Houston. But Dolly wrote the song for Porter Waggoner back in the day when she was a regular on his tv show and decided to leave to start her own career.
One of her lesser known song I Wanna Fall in Love is a quasi rap/disco song she did in 1978. I wish someone would react to that one. It’s short but fun!!
This song is based upon a true story with a great deal of poetic license. A bank teller was very flirty with her husband (routinely) & Dolly didn't appreciate it. The name "Jolene" & her description actually comes from a child fan. She asked Dolly to sign an autograph. When Dolly hear her name, she told it was very poetic & would like to put it into a song. Dolly has been married to the same man for 55 years. She patterned her "look" after the "town tramp". She like to joke that "it takes a lot of money to look this cheap". Dolly was born 1 of 12 children. She was raised in a 1-room cabin of a sharecropper in Tennessee.
Over 3000 songs was in the 1970s, she's confirmed at least 5000 in recent years, and lots of snippets of songs. She writes something every single day. She wrote Jolene and I Will Always Love You in the same writing session.
Who is Dolly? Hun you're fixin to have about 500+ ppl tell you who Dolly is. She is one of the OG country queens. There is so much to say about Dolly. I think I'll just sit back and grin while you are taken to Dolly school.
Dolly is important. It’s a rabbit hole you need to go down, and is thoroughly enjoyable. Dolly’s favorite out of her catalog of music is “Coat of Many Colors”, about her childhood. More recently it was also made into a movie. (Side note: my dog is named after her.💕)
Dolly is a legend, singer, songwriter, actress, owner of Dollywood. For someone who came from poverty of the Appalachian Mts, she took herself out of it. I respect her highly. I saw her in 1965, when I was 6 years old, in Greenville SC. I was mesmerized, not only was she beautiful, but she was funny and could sing and play the guitar like no one else. She even said hello to me when my dad and I walked backstage. Dolly was tiny, but her voice and OTHER body parts were HUGE. LOL. I love that you appreciate ALL music.
Dolly is also one of the most respected and beloved people in East Tennessee. When the wildfires in 2016 destroyed most of Gatlinburg and Sevierville (Where Dolly's from) she opened up Dollywood to house everybody, and spent most of her fortune through her charity not only rebuilding the entire area, but she gave checks $1000+ out to the effected family's for a full year after the disaster. She is one of the most incredible philanthropists of our time, I don't know why it didn't get attention outside of the local Tennessee news. She also has a charity that gives books to children under 5.
“ I will always love you” should be your next song from the one and only Dolly Parton. I’m not a country music fan but I always liked Dolly. She’s so talented and her music is honest and beautiful. Also “ coat of many colors” tells you all you need to know about how she grew up.
When this song was released Dolly was the Queen of Country. She was and out and out looker. She was probably one of the best looking women in country at that time.
Chapel Heart did the followup song on America's Got Talent a while back ... it is wonderful country and a much more current attitude about Jolene's hi jinks.
Dolly Parton is an angel on Earth - she does amazing things. And as others have mentioned, you should at least listen to the Pentatonix "Jolene" with her, it's great! My other favorite song of hers is "9 to 5", but she's seriously talented so you can't really go wrong.
In and interview she explained that 9 to 5 was started by her clicking her nails--rather like a washtub bass- which set the beat, and the rest of the song followed. Great movie theme. Worth catching some of her movies, 9 to 5 and Steel Magnolias come to mind. Her live interviews are a hoot too.
If you love Dolly listen to Lorretta Lynn. Where Dolly is sweet Lorretta is fierce with songs like "You aren't Woman Enough To Take My Man." and "Fist City." For a sweet song from Lorretta do "Coal Miners Daughter." They are both timeless singers.
According to Dolly, this is a true story. She said she beat the hell out of her husband and they are still married today. Most women today would give him an ultimatem to give up Jolene or their marriage is over. Actually, if he didn't give her up, I'd pack his bags and take them all to Jolene's house and tell him not to come back. And replace him right away.

Dolly is a very smart businesswoman who reportedly would not sell the rights for a song to ELVIS. This has stood her well she has her own amusement park "Dollywood", but more importantly she advocates for childhood literacy and has a program that gives books to children.
Oh my goodness I would love for you to react to her song “I will always love you”! Obviously Whitney Houston’s version is iconic, no argument there. But the original is a Dolly Parton song and it’s fun to hear her original version! Also Dolly did an a cappella cover with Pentatonix which is really cool too.
Thank you for showing the respect our queen deserves. She is not only an amazing talent but she does so much for people! We live about an hour from Dollywood and visit often. We are big amusement park people and Dollywood continues to be my absolute favorite. She donated so much to research for covid and the forest fires in Gatlinburg.
Her and Pentatonix version of Jolene is amazing. Whitney Houston covered "I will always love you" that was originally featured in the movie "Best Little Whorehouse in Texas" with Burt Reynolds

Dolly is my all-time favorite artist. She has an amazing catalog that spans 6 decades. She is still recording and performing now at 75. She just recorded a remake of a song with Reba McEntire last month, you should check it out: Does He Love You
Dolly is an awesome human being. Besides winning 10 Grammy Awards as well as countless other awards, she is one of the ten richest singers in the world, with a net worth of over five hundred million dollars. She is not a huge presence on the internet, but she tours world-wide and plays to stadiums of over 100,000. She has used her wealth and fame to serve others, building Dollywood in her home county to provide good jobs to a poor Appalachian region. Then founded Imagination Library in honor of her father, who was illiterate They provide 1 book a month from birth to age 6 for underprivileged children. It started in her home county in TN, then expanded through the US, then to Canada, Great Britain, Ireland, and Australia. That charity purchases more books in that any company except Amazon, Walmart, and Barnes & Noble. When the covid lockdown first hit and caused schools to close, for several weeks she read bedtime stories to children every night over the internet. She also gave 1 million dollars to Vanderbilt University Medical Center to help fund research into the covid vaccine - which became the Pfizer vaccine.
Watching Dolly live is always the best! You have a good voice, AB! Dolly and her ten siblings grew up in a tiny cabin in the mountains of Tennessee _ real hillbilly poor. Her “ Coat of Many Colors” is all about that.
(I know the comments section already said all this, but I will too) Dolly Parton is amazing - she’s one of my favorite country singers, and is said by many to be an amazing person overall. The song ‘I Will Always Love You’ by Whitney Houston? Not Whitney Houston’s song -> Dolly wrote and recorded it (at the same time she wrote ‘Jolene’ in fact). Elvis wanted to perform the song, and Dolly turned him down. She grew up very poor, but eventually made a living and got famous, but kept her head and never let the fame get to her. She has had 25 #1 hits, as well as having at LEAST one top 20s hit a decade since the 1960s, a feat she has a Guinness world record for. She was in a movie called 9 to 5. She wrote and recorded a song for that movie (the song was also called 9 to 5) which became one of her most famous songs. A couple more random facts to toss in -> She’s Miley Cyrus’s godmother, and she once entered a Dolly Parton look alike contest, and lost. My personal favorite songs by her, other than Jolene, are ‘9 to 5’ (no surprise there), ‘Hard Candy Christmas’ (which I feel isn’t mentioned nearly enough), and Joshua (has a kind of Ol’ Red vibe, as far as the storytelling-in-a-song aspect goes) I love that you reacted to her!! Can’t wait for more Queen and Carrie Underwood vids!!
AB man listen to Home Free and Dolly both singing working 9-5, Dolly was the original and home free did the cover....awesomeness you will love. Love you keep up the great reactions
Love it! You're the King of Chair Dancing and stank-face enjoyment of Dolly's gifts. I suggest "9 to 5" both the song and the movie. And dude, outside of music she's a Quality Human Doing... providing books to babies and so much more! Special request... can you please explain the orange juice imagery you use? I love it but am not quite sure I get it... and when telling friends about why I follow you I couldn't explain it. 😆
Yes Kevin Costner asked her if Whitney Houston could sing the song in the movie the Bodyguard.. Dolly said heck yeah that girl is gonna make me rich !! Dolly was driving when she first heard Whitney’s version .. she said she had to pull over to the side of the road and she wept it was beautiful..
Jolene has been played by many artists. (No skin off her back making $ every time). Miley Cyrus has a version out and Dolly did a version with Pentatonix. Dolly Parton, Loretta Lynn, Patsy Cline & Bobbie Gentry were my favorites growing up. Dolly & Loretta grew up very poor from large families. They learned to write & play guitar. Regarding Dolly played majority of songs I love except 9-5. Loretta Lynn had a movie about her life "Coal Miner's Daughter" starring Sissy Spacek (was very good). A few favorite songs: Coal Miner's Daughter, You Ain't Woman Enough, One's on the Way Patsy died in middle of career. Her voice one wouldn't think was country. It was silky, smooth & alto. She pulled you in with her voice. Crazy & I Fall to Pieces Bobbie Gentry hit with a huge song. It was one that people were drawn still throughout the years because there were cryptic elements to it. She's not only is a singer but a song writer having written for other artists too. Here's the song better live because of her presentation: th-cam.com/video/UdL9km5dPbA/w-d-xo.html
Dolly is a huge country OG. She has an amazing voice, still. And she is a true lady. You will thoroughly enjoy your journey down this rabbit hole. Dolly actually wrote this song as a tribute to a particular fan she had noticed who attended many of her concerts. I am not sure if the fan's actual name was Jolene. But, Dolly said that the lady/fan must have been insulted because Dolly never saw her again at any of her concerts. (After she debuted the song.)
@@ABtheKreator This is only partially true. The fan was a little girl named Jolene and that is where she got the name because she thought the little girl was the prettiest little girl she'd ever seen. But the story was about a bank teller she thought her husband was spending a little too much time with and she said she put a stop to that real quick.
@@Isley6628 it's amazing how these false rumors get spread as truth. I believed it. I have never heard the bank teller story before. But, I bet Ms. Dolly would get a big kick out of this still being talked about all these years later.
Great duet: Dolly Parton & Brad Paisley singing, "When I get where I'm going" also a trio of Dolly Parton, Linda Rodstandt & Emmylou Harris: "Telling Me Lies"....great song
All of her songs are great! Dolly's Coat of Many Colors will always be my favorite! She was born in poverty and that song is BEAUTIFUL! Dolly is the GOAT for a reason!
I sang this at a karoake bar in England two months ago. Didn’t think Dolly Parton, let alone country music, was popular in Northern England. So many of my English friends were like AHHH I LOVE DOLLY. Her music transcends across the world. Now being from Texas with Dolly-loving parents, been a huge fan of her since birth.
Dolly is one of the greatest storytellers in the music business. She's STILL amazing, still sounds amazing. And she's one of the sweetest people who has ever lived. If you loved her original version, you should check out the duet she did of this same song with Pentatonix. They won a grammy for it!
I’m not a country music fan I listen to everything else but country and there are certain country songs over the decades that I do like, but Dolly Parton I don’t know what it is about her I fucking love this woman!! she’s amazing. Her voice is amazing. She’s beautiful. She’s epic. And this song is bad ass. This is a true story by the way this actually happened to Dolly. She’s writing from experience.
Yes she plays the guitar with her amazing nails it's mind boggling. My favorite songs are Coat of Many Colors, Jolene and of course 'I will always love you' -- all of which she wrote!
@@ABtheKreator It's a great story, I'll keep it short! In the early 1970's Dolly co starred on "The Porter Wagoner Show ". Dolly became more popular than Porter & wanted to part ways to pursue her own career. He was against it, she brought great ratings. After some bitter arguments Dolly strolled into Porter's office. She made him sit down & listen. She sang "I Always Love You" to him( which she had just wrote). Porter started crying and said "Well, hell! If you feel that strong about it, just go on - providing I get to produce that record because that's the best song you ever wrote.'" And that was the start of her solo career!
Dolly is an amazing and prolific writer. She wrote "I will always love you" that shot Whitney Houston back into the charts. I love Dolly and she is really her own style but she started out as country. Dolly wrote this song about a woman who worked at the bank where she and her husband kept their accounts. The teller was gorgeous and was obviously smitten with Dolly's husband. So this song was born.
Dolly = Legend, the amount of good she has done is uncountable. Coming from dirt, dirt pour ("Coat of Many Colors") to being legendary is an amazing story. PTX did this song with Dolly and it won PTX and Dolly another Grammy!!
My only regret in life is not being exposed to Dolly earlier. Nobody can crack open my soul and take me somewhere ancient and divine like Dolly. Coat of Many Colors, Me and Little Andy, The Bridge, and Just Because I'm a Woman bring me to tears. This woman absolutely blows my mind. I adore her.
Dolly did this live and told a story how a bank teller named Jolene always was flirting with her husband but Jolene was no match for the beautiful Dolly Parton!!!
I love the golden oldies. You might want to also try Janis Joplin "me and Bobby mgee" and "angel of the morning " by juice Newton and Kenny Roger's The gambler and coward of the county. He and dolly did many duets together. Love your reactions
AB, no need to look further in your catalog than Dolly Parton, but I’m open to any of your reactions that you have coming up. Her voice is so pure, sweet and endearing.
If you have the opportunity, react to "Jolene" with Dolly Parton and Pentatonix. They won a Grammy for it. Dolly is a national treasure. Being from Nashville, originally, its nice to see you do this reaction.
If you want to know more about Dolly’s family tree you can watch one of the movies about them. Or just take a trip to DollyWood. Her entire family performs there on the regular. As always AB. Great reaction.
Most people who don’t listen to country don’t realize that Whitney Houston’s version of I Will Always Love You is a remake. Other songs to try: Coat of many colors, Islands in the Stream and Hard Candy Christmas. All completely classic!
You've got to listen to I Will Always Love You. Dolly Parton wrote that song. It was very popular as a country song. It was pushed to the top by Whitney Houston.
When fires ravaged the smoky mountains, she guaranteed each family who lost a home $1000 a month for 6 months.
My personal favorite songs by her, other than Jolene, are ‘9 to 5’ (no surprise there), ‘Hard Candy Christmas’ (which I feel isn’t mentioned nearly enough), and Joshua (has a kind of Ol’ Red vibe, as far as the storytelling-in-a-song aspect goes)
I love that you reacted to her!! Can’t wait for more Queen and Carrie Underwood vids!!
Dolly + Pentatonix singing Jolene is a must see 💛
You should listen to Dolly Parton and Kenny Rogers "Islands in the Stream" it's a beautiful song and they have great chemistry as they sing together.
That melody is where Ghetto Superstar came from if I’m not mistaken
Especially the live performance, where they're both wearing black. Chemistry galore!
@@wnsafford1854 absolutely RIP Kenny Rogers
Islands In The Stream. Actually written by The Bee Gees.
AB man listen to Home Free and Dolly both singing working 9-5, Dolly was the original and home free did the cover....awesomeness you will love. Love you keep up the great reactions
I came here to say the same thing 😃!!
Here we go. There are soooo many songs of hers that are great. ❤❤❤❤❤
Ohhh I’ve heard I’m late late lol
Jolene has been played by many artists. (No skin off her back making $ every time). Miley Cyrus has a version out and Dolly did a version with Pentatonix.
Dolly Parton, Loretta Lynn, Patsy Cline & Bobbie Gentry were my favorites growing up. Dolly & Loretta grew up very poor from large families. They learned to write & play guitar.
Regarding Dolly played majority of songs I love except 9-5.
Loretta Lynn had a movie about her life "Coal Miner's Daughter" starring Sissy Spacek (was very good). A few favorite songs: Coal Miner's Daughter, You Ain't Woman Enough, One's on the Way
Patsy died in middle of career. Her voice one wouldn't think was country. It was silky, smooth & alto. She pulled you in with her voice. Crazy & I Fall to Pieces
Bobbie Gentry hit with a huge song. It was one that people were drawn still throughout the years because there were cryptic elements to it. She's not only is a singer but a song writer having written for other artists too.
Here's the song better live because of her presentation:

AB! Son, have you been under a rock!? 🤣
Yes Doug!! A big hiphop/R&B/gospel/Oldies rap rock lol 😂
Dolly is a classic, and she got a heart of Gold, Watch her movie...Coat Of Many Colors , Story of her growing up etc it's Good
Dolly is a huge country OG.
Just wild lol
Nope. She was a real bank teller flirting with her husband all the time.
Dolly's a great OG SINGER Also has star'ed in many Great Movies.. ECT..
@@Isley6628 it's amazing how these false rumors get spread as truth. I believed it. I have never heard the bank teller story before. But, I bet Ms. Dolly would get a big kick out of this still being talked about all these years later.
Great duet: Dolly Parton & Brad Paisley singing, "When I get where I'm going"
also
a trio of Dolly Parton, Linda Rodstandt & Emmylou Harris: "Telling Me Lies"....great song
You have to realize.. Dolly is an American treasure... amazing song writer, singer, actress, philantropist... Dolly is just everythig...
By Dolly, may I suggest...
"Coat of Many Colors"
And "Backwoods Barbie"
She was huge back in the 1980’s.. Working 9 to 5 was a huge movie and hit for her.. Plus she did duos with Kenny Rogers that’s worth a listen…
She is truly amazing.
She writes the most amazing songs.
I will always love you.
9 to 5
♥♥♥ on my playlist since 1983 when i first heard this
Listen to her sing “9 to 5”. From the movie with the same title, she was one of the stars along with Jane Fonda and Lily Tomlin from Laughing.
Dolly is one of the greatest storytellers in the music business. She's STILL amazing, still sounds amazing. And she's one of the sweetest people who has ever lived. If you loved her original version, you should check out the duet she did of this same song with Pentatonix. They won a grammy for it!
Yes I’m learning that now and thank you 🙏🏾
Some of us mate for life and only have room for one person in our lives to give our heart to.
This is the first time i have seen you and I love Dolly. I subbed . thank you great reaction.
Ha, ha.......I've been listening to this song SINCE 1974!!
Yes she plays the guitar with her amazing nails it's mind boggling. My favorite songs are Coat of Many Colors, Jolene and of course 'I will always love you' -- all of which she wrote!
Dolly Parton is a national treasure and a wonderful human being!
AB, Do you know that Dolly wrote and sang "I will Always Love You"? The same one Whitney Houston sang from The Body Guard soundtrack!
Ohhhhh no way!!!!!! Wow
@@ABtheKreator It's a great story, I'll keep it short! In the early 1970's
Dolly co starred on "The Porter Wagoner Show ". If you feel that strong about it, just go on - providing I get to produce that record because that's the best song you ever wrote.'"
And that was the start of her solo career!
Whitney's version is a powerhouse. Dolly's version is an emotional one that you believe in your soul.
@@justineanglemyer3980 oh wow!!!! 🔥🔥🔥👀
Dolly originally sung the song I Will Always Love You, which was covered by Whitney Houston.
AB you have a nice singing voice , She is a outstanding singer and person !!!
🔥🔥💯💯 Reaction, Coat of many colors and so much more for you to discover 💯
My only regret in life is not being exposed to Dolly earlier. Nobody can crack open my soul and take me somewhere ancient and divine like Dolly. Coat of Many Colors, Me and Little Andy, The Bridge, and Just Because I'm a Woman bring me to tears. This woman absolutely blows my mind. I adore her.
Oh boy! This will start your journey down another awesome orange juice filled rabbit hole!!
Wow lol alot of OJ I’m hearing 🔥🔥😱😱
Dolly did this live and told a story how a bank teller named Jolene always was flirting with her husband but Jolene was no match for the beautiful Dolly Parton!!!
She sang duets with Kenny Rogers. She also has many songs herself. She has done movies ( 9 to 5 ) and she owns Dollywood in Tennessee.
Dolly and Pentatonix did a collaboration with Jolene. It is fire!!
Ohhh I’m on it
AB needs to react to his collaboration.
We all Love Dolly .Enjoy
I love your reactions 🤣🤣🤣 I've been watching them all day 👌👌
I can’t wait to see you react to this one! Dolly is pure orange juice and she ain’t gonna go lightly on you! 😁🍊
I love the golden oldies. You might want to also try Janis Joplin "me and Bobby mgee" and "angel of the morning " by juice Newton and Kenny Roger's The gambler and coward of the county. He and dolly did many duets together. Love your reactions
Ha ha ha this is me talking to you lightly. Feathers! Love Dolly ❤❤
Beautiful song love Dolly
I really love and respect this channel so much!
AB, no need to look further in your catalog than Dolly Parton, but I’m open to any of your reactions that you have coming up. Her voice is so pure, sweet and endearing.
Dolly is a national treasure .
All her songs are a hit!
If you have the opportunity, react to "Jolene" with Dolly Parton and Pentatonix. They won a Grammy for it. Dolly is a national treasure. Being from Nashville, originally, its nice to see you do this reaction.
I seen on an interview, the song is about her husband and the lady at the bank, he was crushing on
She’s a national treasure.
If you want to know more about Dolly’s family tree you can watch one of the movies about them. Or just take a trip to DollyWood. Her entire family performs there on the regular. As always AB. Great reaction.
She is a fabulous songwriter, the list of top 10s is amazing. My favorite is "I Will Always Love You" usually associated with Whitney Houston.
The queen of country
There is a remix of Joleen with modern day dancing & it's good! Different view!
You'd love the live performance she does of this in the UK I think, 1988, some years back. :)
You are a " wild and crazy guy." Don't ever change!
The dolly and Kenny's Christmas album will blow your mind.
A beautiful, talented story teller
Most people who don’t listen to country don’t realize that Whitney Houston’s version of I Will Always Love You is a remake. Other songs to try: Coat of many colors, Islands in the Stream and Hard Candy Christmas. All completely classic!
You've got to listen to I Will Always Love You. Dolly Parton wrote that song. It was very popular as a country song. It was pushed to the top by Whitney Houston.
You need to hear Dolly Parton's Coat of Many Colors. It is her most autobiographical song. She is amazing!
