Falko Zander of Systema Akademie Berlin explains the key features and benefits of the russian martial art "Solovev Style". While explaining he is teaching a Systema Ryabko student from Riga.
You will find us here: systema-berlin.de
Solovev Style is relatively unkown to the western world. It has been created by Alexander A. Solovev, a former Colonel of russian special operations units who currently lives in Altai, Siberia, Russia. Alexander was leading and educating special units during his 29 years long career. Doing so he developed profound and reality proven skills and a unique methodology for teaching.

The sensitive and relaxed movement in russian martial arts, especially here in Solovev Style, is quite impressive and very interesting. Looks some kind of slow motion movie :)

This is possible because of the correct bodymovement which allows you to have some support and control in every position.

Hi Falko, are you the only Solovev school? I would like to learn more but currently live in North America and it will be some time before I find my way to Germany for a seminar!

Hi! We are aware only about one Solovev Style school in America at this moment - it's in New York: valvoiced.wixsite.com/fightnot/non-fighting-art

What's the role of breathing in Solovev Style? Is it overemphasized like it seems to be in Ryabko's Systema? Wish you all the best.

One of the main advantages of Solovev Style is, that there are no context free exercises. That means that there are no basic exercises like push-ups and no breathing exercises at all.
Everything is done and explained while working with a partner. Breathing is explained and used as much as it is needed for a particular guy/opponent/exercise and not more.
After all Solovev Style uses the same breathing patterns like Systema Ryabko but teaches them in context.
We feel that this leads to better results.

Become very sensitive to tension of the attacker; then, direct or interrupt their tension using natural movement. Is that right?

+Falko Zander Thank you sincerely Falko for this very clear and concise list. The work process you describe makes very good sense, and the practical results of the work is very impressive to see in the videos.
Do you have any recommendations for drills to become so relaxed while working? Also, does this work use internal wave movements? Finally, would you say that principles behind the no contact work in the Solovev concept is the same used by Lavrov and Skogorev?
Thanks again for taking the time to share this list, as it really helps to make the process quite understandable. Now for the practical implantation.

It would be a great honor to study with you or Alexander, and when it is feasible it will happen.
Thanks again for your feedback, and for your informative videos!

You become sensitive not only to his tensions but to directions of his attacks, to every movement (or lack of movement). And yes, in order to work with the opponent you have to move naturally. That means no unnecessary tension, no superfluous movements (like overrotation for example) and so on.

There is a huge difference between beeing relaxed and relaxed. You can e.g. enjoy massage or Yoga every day but will not become "relaxed" in the way that is required for CQC. You can learn to work relaxed/without unnecessary tension only if you work out your body and don’t fix on any technics/drills. In Solovev Style it will achieved first of all through falling down correctly.
Concerning the internal waves: The more sensitive you get the shorter your work becomes. So at the end it is inner work, you can call it inner waves or not. And with the mastery of even more precise and accurant work it becomes no contact work.
