ahhhhh the good old days for me and america/racing. I could write a book and just might, so much about life/economy etc. has changed in the past ten years
The first race was kind of a snoozer until the last 5 laps, but the second race was really exciting until Kurt Busch made a bone head move during pit stops. In that race Jr., Harvick & Waltrip were the 3 strongest cars. They were really close. Too bad a battle between them and the Hendrick cars never materialized in the rain-shortened 500. Great upload BTW. (y)
@Jordan31fan The same thing happened in this years 150's. Dale Jr. and Kasey Kahne both got away with it yet they penalized David Ragan for the same thing three days later in the 500. Just an example of Nascar's inconsistency. Hell, Austin Dillion shouldn't have even been the Truck champion this year because he passed below the line twice at the end of the Talladega race and never got a penalty yet they took away Regan Smith and Denny Hamlin's wins for passing below the line. End of rant.
Plus we didn't have double-file restarts by placing all lead lap cars at the front. In the double-file restart rule now, you can't change lanes, just ask David Ragan in the 2011 Daytona 500. However, you can still change lanes after you cross the start/finish line.
@Jordan31fan It was not a rule in 2003. The only rule was you can not pass to the left before the line and you can't beat the leader to the start finish line. They only ran lap cars to the inside anyways.
I think he would've gotten his lap back. I think the Daytona 500 should be called differently when it comes to rain delays. Everyone puts such an emphasis on the race, and the qualifying rules are so different from the rest of the races that the race deserves to be run the full distance. If that happened, I think the '03 Daytona 500 would've been settled by Waltrip, Earnhardt Jr., Gordon, Harvick and Johnson; pending a big wreck collecting any of the contenders. Chevys were the best cars there.

If I'm the pole winner I'm turning two laps in the qualifier and pulling into the garage.
1:41:45 the Kurt Busch/Kevin Harvick pit Crash
He had a dubbed engine. It was supposedly "a engine enhancement" that wasn't to regulation.

Robby Gordon changed lanes before the start finish line! Was that not illegal back then?
according to NASCAR.COM, Rusty Wallace got disqualifide for somthing and got scored in last place.
Anyone know why?
