    i think the saddest thing is that her mom and dad lived for 50 years thinking their little daughter was dead and never got to find out otherwise.

    As a grandson of Hilda I have to assure you, she was really emotional.. after suffering so many years of the sad memories and a fact of completely loneliness, it is very difficult to show your feelings. Thrilled?? :(

    Hilda was keeping her emotions to herself. She must be a tower of strength.

    As a young German, I think stories like this are very precious. It feels good to see that the sick system of our grandfathers did not prevail.

    First of all, it is a shock for her, she just realised that she lived her whole life thinking her family was dead, while ALL of them were alive. They all were together, kind of a "happy family", while she was alone. ALONE. How do you think it influences the psychology of the person?
    Second. She does not speak any English plus all those cameras and people around.
    When they spoke alone, they spoke Yidish between themselves and had so much fun.
    Sorry they did not have a Hollywood meeting for YOU.

    As a grandson of Hilda and a one that have been with her through all the story, would like to tell you some things:
    First of all, HAHA? this is not funny AT all
    the woman was sure for her entire life, that she lost everything and everyone. she was alone in this world. And suddenly this whole story is falling on her head..
    It was very difficult for her..

    Why would you pass judgment on someone who went through something so horrific and hadn't seen her family in many decades?

  • @Sanemdc
    @Sanemdc 8 ปีที่แล้ว +1225

    I don't think it's fair for people to criticize her because of her reaction.
    If she is being the way she is is because she is a very strong woman that went through a lot, during and probably after the Holocaust too.
    Life made her that way, also who knows what was going inside of her at the moment.
    She did say though, at the beginning of the video that she was happy.

    The feelings must have been too much to process. Imagine if it happened to you! She thought all her family were dead for 6 decades when she could have seen them...imagine she had the grief twice of losing her parents and siblings!!

  • @Sarahbt07
    @Sarahbt07 15 ปีที่แล้ว +162

    I know... but you also have to realize how PAINFUL it must be. She thought her family was dead... and they're not, so she missed out on an entire lifetime of being with them. It would be really hard to go through -- even though it's wonderful to meet them, now she has lost more than she thought she lost before.

    As an amateur Military Historian for over 35 years I seldom feel much emotion any more. It's a shame really, but studying war (and death) does desensitize you. This particular video really touched my heart and brought a tear to my eyes. Maybe because I have 2 sisters who I've never lived more than 30 miles away from. God Bless Israel and the works of YadVashem! Thank you.

  • @angelai0906

    it's all the cameras and attention her family is receiving. Also all the years she thought her family was dead impacted her as now she has to grasp the whole commotion and reality around her. Once she and her brother are all alone I bet she was pouring out everything she felt and very emotional. This video is so touching and beautiful, may god bless them!

    Could everyone just chill for a second and enjoy this beautiful moment in these people's lives? Don't you imagine that their grandkids are watching this now and then? Surely there is another time and place for those discussions. We all know what happened and why. Those that don't or don't believe, have multitudes of other places to go find out.
    This video was beautiful, thank you for posting it!

    I still dont know what happened to my family, they were in Poland & Lithuania. I tried looking up all names & found nothing. There is a huge hole in my heart for all of my brothers & sisters who died or survived in this genocidal nightmare. but I want to know what happened to my family & what was their life before the war?

    Idk why everyone is going after the sister we have no idea what's going on in her head we have no clue what she has gone through what type of emotional trauma she might have gone through or what is happening with her now we should just be happy that she was reunited with some of her family

  • @captainpdub
    @captainpdub 12 ปีที่แล้ว +33

    Perhaps because she's seen too much.
    Or perhaps because she wants that moment to be between her and her brother alone----with out the presence of cameras or those who could not comprehend that magnitude of such a moment---
    You have to understand that when she sees her brother she also sees the faces of loved ones who are no more. She sees the world that was lost.
    So perhaps what is perceived as a lack of emotion is her way of dignifying the powerful, complex emotions of her experience.
