We love the Blue Cactus Dairy Goat channel! My daughter, also homeschooled, has watched almost all their videos! Very grateful to have come across your channel, too! My husband has a very busy spring ahead of him with all the projects inspired by you!
Leaving a super L for this great download of excellent content 👌✔️How beautiful this project for the 🐐🐐🐐 you already have a shelter roof and now in this project to be able to milk while they eat is fantastic, it is an incredible job Congratulations For the results! ....I had to see your very young princess, she was a baby when you were just in your country house! In the first videos that I visited 5 years ago, oh! 6 years, now he has grown a lot Nice to greet you friend Joe 🙋 greetings to your beautiful family 🌵🌻👩🏻🌾🇲🇽
❤ Awesome work on that build. & Your baby girl is an amazing child. she's not scared of work and is good at doing things most kids wouldn't dream of doing. Kids will be who they are no matter what, but are influenced by the people in their life. So props to mom & dad.
Very clever and kudos for the simple engineering. Your daughter (and you) may enjoy watching Painted Desert Ranch. They are up in Navajo country near Holbrook, AZ. Danielle and Henson are members of the Winn family cattle and horse ranch. The land is very rugged up there. Much of the ranch work is done on horseback. The Winn ranch breeds beautiful and prized quarter horses, and Henson Winn is an excellent horse trainer, and Daniele competes in barrel racing.
Very awesome! I love how involved Marley is (of course, why wouldn’t she be?), it’s great watching kids learn these types of skills & way of life. Go dad!! 👍🏻
Oh yes, she is definitely a ‘dive in head first’ kinda mentality for all of these things! And I’m sure your boys are pretty much the same. They just have that zeal for life that makes things that much more fun😊
Considering your roping practice is Marley looking at horses and cattle or a couple cows first and then a horse (or three). She is growing up so fast... congratulations. Happy new year Joe. Wishing you and your family a blessed new year filled with peace, prosperity, projects and opportunities for education.
Oh yes, horses are a daily subject of conversation😂 My wife has always wanted a horse, but now is much wiser and kinda the family ‘financier’ so she’s probably the most hesitant. I’ve never really wanted horses but now that my daughter wants them I’m kinda on board now too. So there is a pretty funny nightly/daily family conversation the has been going on for a few months now😂 You have a happy and blessed new year as well!
@@homesteadonomics A friend rescues and rehabs horses. Several of us volunteer to work with them, administering Reiki energy, grooming and gentle care. Is there sufficient green in your area to pasture and allow grazing? Perhaps you could foster a horse or two while your wife and Marley get their fur fix. I foresee another trailer project in your future. Good luck sir.
Oh boy, I do too! She wants horses SO badly. But I’ve got to make it make sense financially first. So I’m considering all options like boarding, etc,. But you’ll definitely know before wr get them as I’ll likely do a bunch of video projects…”building a horse stall”, “diy cheap horse fencing using railroad ties” or whatever else I can think of. We are very intrigued by the BLM/prison wild mustang program out here in the western states. BLM horses go to a couple different prisons were inmates get to train and ‘gentle’ them and then they auction them. We’ve also got some family in the border patrol and they say that they give there horses from the horse division away as they get past their prime. They are pretty well trained and have gotten used to riding with a variety of riders, at night, etc,. But who knows…. Still in the idea phase.
Wow That turned out very nice! Great job, great video! Meadow seems to like the "high jump" training-as long as she gets a treat at the end! 🙂Loved watching you and Marley practicing your roping skills.....always good to have several scenarios - "still" and "walking" 😂
Nice little project. I never had a stand when I had goats. I just sat on a low stool. It gave me lower back aches. I was gonna suggest to make a small goat chariot, then I saw the goat cart at the end. 😉
Oh yes, the chariot is something I think could really be a fun little venture. But the little one, Peaches, does not seem interested😂. So it’d likely be a larger one that our momma goat would pull once she’s out of milk. And I’d try to have it where Marley could sit on it. But who knows…
Yeah they can be a trip depending on the light. These goats however, have pretty round pupils as the light gets lower, so it looks a bit more familiar at that point.
Your always thinking before you take on a project, I was wondering why you used the metal screen, of course good reason 👍, keep your projects coming I’ve gotten some great ideas from you. I got to go get a welder for my shop , I’m old school buzz box , might have to change over to wire feed .
Buzz box is the classic you gotta have! I started with a Lincoln AC225 and really liked it. But my Forney multiprocess machine Im is just too convenient….haha. But I will say wire feed lends itself to the mid range projects so well. However, stick is still king for for many things that need toughness, especially if your running 7018’s or something like that. I also love the nostalgia with stick too!
Happy New Year Joe, another neat project and I still can't get over how grown up Marley is now. Going to show my son the goats tomorrow, he'll ask for some, but no way we can fit them in our garden!
Happy new year to you as well Derek! And I have no doubt your son will be interested in them as well. They are a pretty enjoyable and funny animal to have around😂
I started catching up on your videos today with the new chicken coop. It's been a hot minute since I've been on your channel. It's incredible how fast your daughter is growing! LOL... She's SUPER tall compared to when she FIRST got the goats. I'm looking forward to finishing all the rest of your vids. (I admit that I watch them at 1.5x speed)
😂….. she gets me with those little bits nearly everyday. If you look closely on the coffee cup, one side says memories from “lasterday” and “a long day ago”. Which is what Marley used to say when talking about yesterday or the day or two before. So we still say it now and it just makes the heart smile ☺️
@@homesteadonomics 😂 I did notice the mug & thought it was an inside joke. my niece always said stippy take instead for sticky tape & heffa lump (elephant) I still ask her for the stippy take & she’s 27. Love the vid Joe 🐐
Very nicely done Joe! The wheels may have been a small addition but very smart! And the open grate for obvious reasons! Now you can take the cart anywhere and not necessarily bring the goats to a station. I wonder though, do the goats ever get "freaked out" when in the holder. Like if the food ran out and they tried to back out and couldn't, do they struggle? Horses! I knew it! 😉I think learning to lasso leg sweep your kids is a good thing to perfect before they get to be teenagers! 🤣
About them getting freaked out…. I’m sure they would if they ran out of treats, be we try to make sure that they have enough for the entire milking. And if they are getting low we speed up the milking to keep any panic from happening. And as for the lasso when she gets older….I’m hoping that won’t be necessary as I’ll start posting more firearm related content and so the boys can get an idea of where my line in the sand is😉
Awesome project! Hopefully none of the milk goats will accidentally step off the side of the platform while it's head is locked in. Was wondering if side rails would be necessary... 🙂 You're building memories of a life time!!!
Thank you…. It checked it and I had the wire and amps dialed in with some thicker stuff I was welding and only turned down the amps and not the wire. It’s good now😊🙏
Thank you and yes! If I can overbuild you can be sure I WILL😂 As for a horse milking stand…. I’ll have to get out the heavy duty steel and stick weld all of that!
Nice job. Was wondering how rain water catch system is working? We've gotten a fair amount of rain is so cal and far to much of it goes into the ocean.
Pallet wood is perfectly good too! You could see the original one I built out of scrap wood worked just fine. But I just wanted to make a little more stream lined version.😊
Should see if you can team up with ACAL clothing (Adam Calhoun, great guy, great music) for a merch supplier. His crew makes their own clothing in house.
Would this kind of stand also work for sheep? I'm a bit curious how you worked out the width of the neck piece since not all goats are the same size too.
Horse market is a boom-bust market. Currently going bust from what I have seen. Wait it out but start looking at prices. I expect them to keep dropping. Of course Horse market plummets if there is a recession.
Yes, I’d agree. I’ve got a friend who does some horse boarding and that is pretty much what he’s said. If we are able to get horses we plan to either get BLM/prison horses OR get some retired border patrol horses. The BLM/prison program is a gentling program with the wild mustangs. And it gets the horses to the saddle/ride stage before the auction. The border patrol route would be via family we have that are familiar with their horse unit. The horses are well trained and are used to a variety of riders and riding at night. But the economy and we’re definitely erring in the side of prudence, so we don’t get into a bad situation for us or the horse. Plus, there’s a LOT of things I’d need to get in place first(stalls, pen, run, vet, etc
The basic concept and design can be made out of wood just as easily. Actually, way easier….so just because I made mine with metal does not mean the concept won’t work with wood. I showed my scrap wood one in previous videos of this goat project and the design is almost exactly the same. And I’ve even had a couple folks let me know that they used some of these basic designs for their own stands…out of wood. Anyways, hope that helps😊👍
