Excellent video but you have one error. You leave the mixer all the way down (idle). When you start your engines, the mixer will move up automatically. When you move the mixer up like you did, it can damage or start a fire to the engines. I'm not a pilot but another youtube reviewer received a message from a real DC-3 pilot who told him about the mixer. Anyway, very informative video. Thank you.
I took her up once so far and I fell in love. Notwithstanding the history of her military varient at Normandy and beyond, she just sounds amazing.
I flew 1,600 hours on the DC3 - we never opened the storm windows & spent a lot of time with chewing gum to water proof them, until some rotten cleaner opened them to clean the windows. :o)
BTW The windscreen wipers were hydraulic & as you turned them on you could get them to warp speed.
You start the engines with mags & mixture off using booster coil & primer till it fires & then mixture Auto Rich.
Thanks for the DC-3 introduction and I share your love for this iconic airplane. Aeroplane Heaven has done a fantastic job. Since installing update 11 I also get the message 'connection lost' very regularly.
I am also experiencing the connection lost message. Kind of a bummer. Hope they fix it soon!
Those messages seem to appear when the server does not respond in a certain interval. In flight the game may pause, speech can change to default, very annoying.
Everything about this plane is beautiful. The sound the history and it flys so well. My favourite part is definitely the humming of the radial engines, sometimes it puts me to sleep on long flights. 😂. Amazing video

Many thanks for a great video. DC-3s used to fly over my house when I was growing up in New Hampshire, USA.
One more thing. I didn’t realize and took me a while to figure this out. If you load DC3 with retrofit livery, you’ll get GNS 430/530. For original old fashioned navigation instruments, you need to load a “classic” version

The c-47 included a small clear dome at the navigators station in the roof to take celestial measurements for navigation

Thanks for great video Murph. Can you explain how to get the view from the cockpit looking back to see the props? Noticed when you were starting the engines you could see the prop tips. Can't seem to get that view.
The c-47 wad basically just made stronger for military like making floor thicker and stronger and a few other upgrades but not many

Yes I've been getting those connection lost pop up messages as well. They almost caused me to crash when coming in for a landing because you lose control of the aircraft until you acknowledge the message.
I also have the "conection lost" issue, I hope it will be fixed soon. Good video !
Agreed DC-3 is one of the coolest airplanes is a non-pilot I really found this interesting
The landing gear lever is not working. How do you retract gear after take off? What do we bind the trim tab, pitch trim, to since the regular GA trim from other aircraft doesn’t work in this plane?

It's an awesome plane! been enjoying it, together with the Beaver. The only gripe I have is that some of the sound efeects seem way too loud, such as the flaps and raising/lowering the wheels. Also it often seems to balloon a bit right after takeoff, which seems atypical for the DC-3.
Other than that I'm having lots of funb with the DC-3! Thanks for the instructions Murph!
Adding some nose down trim before takeoff could help reduce that ballooning effect.

Great video. Just FYI, I've been getting those stupid connection errors all day. The Marketplace comes and goes as well. Hopefully they'll get it sorted...
Very helpful intro to the DC3, thank you. Perhaps the Microsoft server is under strain these days. In my experience the link is broken much more frequently since V11.
Great video thank you. One of the main differences between the DC3 and the C-47 was around the tail which it doesnt look like Aeroplane heaven have released yet in the MSFA version or if they have I dont know how to activate it.
The C-47 had a glider towing capability below the rudder and between the elevators and the rear of the fuz was actually cut away to take a release mechanism.
One question... how do I getthe analogecentre console? Mine is a modern GPS system and is there a manual for this anywhere?
I think its based on the livery - check for retrofit - that one has the GPS
Pity about the South African registration... I remember seeing the real thing (I'm that old!!!)
There's click spots for removing the flight controllers, which helps you to see better :)
Really dumb clickspots
On xbox, I can't get this thing to take off without it yawing to the left and right, even with all easy settings on.
I cannot map the functions for fuel selector to any of my perhiperals or even a keybinding on the keybord...anyone else manage to do it=?
There is a DC3 Manual that comes with the plane...if anyone’s interested in details.
Very good video. Sad it ends before take off but will be next time I guess :)
I'm searching desperately for the gear switch cause I can't figure out how to retract them without using the G keyboard switch and it's annoying especially with VR headset. Hope to find it in your next video :)

@@buikhan follow the link I put. It's a complete guide for the DC3. This guide refer to the P3D version so it contains few differences with the MSFS version but it is almost the same and there you will find how to to handle landing gears as well as everything else in the DC3.
Could anyone help me please, cos ever since sim update 11 I cannot get to see anyone else apart from myself. I usually fly around with my brother who lives in a different city but we no longer can see ourselves. I recently was over at his place and flew on his sim, and he can see others. I can’t. I have no idea what I’m doing wrong or what exact settings need to be activated on Data (or wherever else) to see other players. Thanks in advance for any help.

Great vid! What is the standard vs enhanced version? Thought you get the Dc-3 automatically when you download the 40th anniversary package? Do you need to do more?:)
There is an enhanced version in the marketplace. AFAIK it adds 4k/8k textures to it - but it seems a little broken right now

@@buikhan there are some flight model issues with the enhanced one at the moment but it will be fixed
Excellent video...perfect. I could not get the aircraft with retro auto pilot to go higher than 1000 feet....Any idea guys?

I tried to steer the DC-3 yesterday. I like to opearte it with the real POH. Vr is apr. 100 knots... It is impossible be for me to stay on the ground for that long. Even if i push the yoke FULLY foward the airplane is in the air at about 70 knots.. dont know what im doing wrong here ... Powersettings are checked aswell. Maybe you have to fully fuel and load it up? Or maybe the performance of the sim is not accurat enough? How is your experience with this?
Don’t use flaps down for take off.
What are the two switches just left of the BATTERY switch for?

you have AMD gpu?If so stay on 22.5.1 latest driver is buggy
