How great to see a guy who has shaped one of the subgenres of metal, fanboying so hard on his favorite records and talkin about his great experiences of seeing bands live... He's just a great dude
I would hit the like button a hundred times if I could. To hear Mikael talk about his life and old friends like Friden, Bjorler and Akerfeldt is just amazing. lml lml
Man, this is great, such a Mikael is such a great guy. Really like this sype of video, bring more musicians to make this, it's really great to see their histories with the records
Mikael is one of the best vocalists in metal with one of the most distinctive growls. Had he stayed with In Flames, the band probably wouldn't have turned into garbage, but then attention would have been diverted from Dark Tranquillity. Ah, the trade-offs in life...
In Flames would be good if Stanne was a permanent member and Jesper never left, Anders and Bjorn is the mind behind IF turned into pop core, Niklas Sundin from Dark Tranquillity is way better compositor than Bjorn, and still make epic albums til this day, Stanne is in the right place after all
One of the most genuinely humble and nicest musicians I have ever met!! Caught them in a TINY venue with a criminally small crowd and had the opportunity to meet the band before the show. Im sure there was disappointment from the crowd size but the band never showed it IMHO.
Wow, impressive!!! Music For The Masses is my favorite DM album as well and Headless Cross is also my favorite Black Sabbath album!! Oh, and Dark Tranquillity are my favorite death metal band too!!! :D
I love this record store feature that century media does! I hope they add more artists soon because I've watched em all already and want to see more haha. So cool to see Dark Tranquility's lead vox talk about his favorite albums, horns up!
wow I can say im impressed by his tastes. Grace and Music for the Masses are pretty much two of my favorite albums ever as well. Headless Cross is super underrated I completely agree!
we are all like mad here in youtube searching the full album of each of those he recommended and we didnt know about lol omg i knew only 4 of them !!!! thank you Mikael !!! cant wait to listen your new work guys !!!
Dark Tranquillity is the unique band which consists all the things have to be in a musical project. Even thought I'm from a exotic culture, I share the same spirit when I hear DT performing music. It sounds like something from out of this world.
this guy could have his own show where he talks about music. he's really into it and entertaining to listen to. EDIT: wait, Headless Cross is his favorite Sabbath album?! I take back everything I just said.
Och det är ett av mina absolut nummer 1 album :) And that is one of mine aboslute number 1 Album....... Maybe i am a liiiiiiitlle bit patriotic now... But hey, i am a Viking so i can and will be :) Thanks for your sharing guys!!! Top of the notch always!!!
He is one of my favorite vocalist and DT is one of my top 10 metal bands. Here is an off the top of my head top 10 metal bands 1. Katatonia 2. Sentenced 3. Mushroomhead 4. Ventana 5. Dark Tranquility 6. Poisonblack 7. In Flames 8. S- Tool 9. Sadus 10. Merciless 9 and 10 because my guy On this video said they rule.
Interesting selections.... Gene Hogan actually joined Death in 1993 for the Individual Thought Patterns album right before Symbolic (1995). It's all good as they say though......
finally, somebody else that didn't care for the Human album. i was so into Death back then, that the Human release was a huge letdown for me. i did like 3 songs, but the rest were pretty much trash to me. i'll never "get" why a low point in their career is universally considered their high point. sure the drums were great, and there were some good bass lines, but good drumming can't turn bad songs into good songs (just look at Meshuggah).
Our Featured Artist playlist over at Spotify is no longer featuring DARK TRANQUILLITY but check it out to see who is! bit.ly/FeaturedArtistSPOTIFY
I love the passion he talks about this music!
How great to see a guy who has shaped one of the subgenres of metal, fanboying so hard on his favorite records and talkin about his great experiences of seeing bands live... He's just a great dude

Bring more musicians into these. This is super interesting!

Death "Symbolic" is THE masterpiece.
i would argue Human is
I'm not surprised that they like Depeche mode at all
Projector was clearly influenced by them
Yes.I love people who appreciate good music independently from the genre.
especially Brändström)
and he sing almost like the singer of depeche mode xD
Jester Head he sounds just like him

i love the first in flames albums but DT is better in comparison NO gothenburg band can beat the gallery
Stanne was never a member of In Flames. He was just a session vocalist
Shit like this is why comments should be disabled, or at least moderated. What a load of bullshit.
@@elvisman2000 "Look a opinion that i don't like, TH-cam REALLY needs to disable comments because this hurts my feelings"

projector is my favorite by them I hope to find the vinyl ....that guitar work clear vocals just an amazing album.....

Mikael is the man. There is truely something special about Dark Tranquillity.. can't wait to see them in Las Vegas this September.
Why is he so fucking nice "Please listen to this instead of me" 😭
The influence of Depeche mode comes through, so good. I've always been focused on lyric, and I am never disappointed.
Love how he's always wearing that jacket lol he was wearing when I saw them live 2 days ago.
Big up Riverside!
RIP Piotr
Wow, impressive!!! Music For The Masses is my favorite DM album as well and Headless Cross is also my favorite Black Sabbath album!! Oh, and Dark Tranquillity are my favorite death metal band too!!! :D
Jason Vegan are you sure DT are death metal?
Well there melodic death metal technically but still my favorite band from any of the death metal subgenres!
I love this record store feature that century media does! I hope they add more artists soon because I've watched em all already and want to see more haha. So cool to see Dark Tranquility's lead vox talk about his favorite albums, horns up!

Yes! My favorite melo death singer has the same favorite Depeche album as I have. Yay for us!
This explains In Truth Divided, four years later :D
Excellent stuff! We want more videos like this. Thanks! \m/
This video is great. Happy to know Mikael likes Tony Martin era Sabbath.
we are all like mad here in youtube searching the full album of each of those he recommended and we didnt know about lol omg i knew only 4 of them !!!! thank you Mikael !!! cant wait to listen your new work guys !!!
The fact that he loves Riverside makes me so happy

A lot of metal bands seemed to be influenced by Depeche Mode. A good selection overall.
Can't wait to see them in November, Going to be a fucking great time.
Holy shit, that Sadus is insane. Love it!
now i want to talk whit this man, after this cool taste of music
Great guy, great musician, great taste in music, all hail Mikael Stanne
I lost it when Misery's Crown came in the background
IM SO GLAD that Im not the only one who thinks headless Cross is the best Black Sabbath album. Tony Martin era is so underrated.
So true!
I love this guy, one of the most important figures on modern metal. An he is so *** nice.
Great. We always wish to know about musical influences of those guys.
I just started my record collection, so this great! Thanks
this guy could have his own show where he talks about music. he's really into it and entertaining to listen to.
EDIT: wait, Headless Cross is his favorite Sabbath album?! I take back everything I just said.
Headless Cross is amazing, most satanic.

Tiene muy buenos gustos la verdad y su música más excelente todavía
If you listen closely you can hear new album playing in the background
I'm not sure about presence of songs from DT's new upcoming album but I heard fragments of "Misery's Crown" and "Lost to Apathy".
Грамматический нацист I might be mistaken
He is one of my favorite vocalist and DT is one of my top 10 metal bands.
Here is an off the top of my head top 10 metal bands
1. Katatonia
2. Sentenced
3. Mushroomhead
4. Ventana
5. Dark Tranquility
6. Poisonblack
7. In Flames
8. S- Tool
9. Sadus
10. Merciless
9 and 10 because my guy On this video said they rule.
Thanks a lot
great choices
Love that the DT frontman is a prog addict. So it makes sense that he is friends with Mikael Akerfeldt of Opeth.
I love this man :)
9:44 Gene Hoglan joined Death before the album called Individual Thought Patterns not Symbolic.
king crimson.. mikael knows things!
Great guy! \m/ \m/
Depeche mode 💪🤟🏻
Buenísimo !
Riverside❤❤❤ much love😍
Interesting selections.... Gene Hogan actually joined Death in 1993 for the Individual Thought Patterns album right before Symbolic (1995). It's all good as they say though......
And I thought i was the only metal head that liked depeche mode a lot hahhahahaha
Tbf, Skydancer and The Gallery did have a Gothic influence in the clean vocals and clean riffs. I'm not surprised at all.
I like them too and I'm a huge Metal fan :)
great fucking tastes he got man!
Omg awesome!!
I think he is confusing Symbolic with Individual, where Gene played in.
Great video, but it’s difficult to hear him speak sometimes over the band’s music being played in the background. It’s a little too loud.
What a cry baby
@@ivangh94 ok?
Great band. I'm an ancient fan. Heh.
hola
nee to mix in some merciless and Sadus influences into DT
Tere!
finally, somebody else that didn't care for the Human album.

SADUS were brilliant.
SADUS MASTERPIECE ALBUM
I think you like Uriah Heep 🎸🎸🤘🤘😊
All cool dudes like Uriah Heep, you know whom I'm talking about.
Hoglan rather, not Hogan
Could Never Get into The Black Sabbath Era After Mob Rules For Me Personally it Just Wasn’t Black Sabbath Ozzy Osbourne & Ronnie James Dio All The Way
Todo escepto Depeche mode y death está bien ogt.
