16:30 Oh boy, the SS3 shotgun. Not only does it magically fit 10/15 shells in its magazine, the model for said magazine is just a cut off stanag from the Assault rifle. The mag well is also just ripped from the rifle, so it says "5.56" on the side. Oh, and the art book for SS4 still mentions it's shotgun having a 10 round mag, so thats your fun fact of the day (unless they finally fixed it) - Update: They did not fix it
Whether or not this was a good Serious Sam game is a fair point. This came out in 2011 and we thought Boomer Shooters were never coming back after this.
2:29:46 I totally agree. There's always something about Egypt, whether present or ancient, that I'm always really drawn too. Maybe from playing first encounter as a kid, maybe because I was always fascinated by ancient Egypt and Egyptian mythology as a kid, maybe because I'm weird or, perhaps, all of the above. No idea, just gimme more Egypt
Love these Feature videos and really appreciate all the effort you put into them. I don't usually watch videos this long, am more prone to skip through them until i find a segment that interests me, but so far both of your Feature videos kept my full attention the entire time. And i say this as someone with diagnosed attention deficit disorder. Props to you, mate! There's actually more to the stone tablets than you might initially think, since they actually refer to the relationship between the Sirians and the Egyptians. The gods in this case were actually the Sirians, which were stated in Serious Sam 1 to have been revered as such. They also make mention of the Sirians leaving Earth and warning humanity that if they were ever to "sail to the stars" they would awaken the wrath of the One Infinite. The One Infinite, the same title Achriman and the propaganda in Serious Sam 4 used for Mental. Also if you listen closely during Sam's call with Quinn after the first generator is powered up, you can actually hear HQ cheer in the background. That's a neat little detail!
I feel like SS3 would've been leaps and bounds better if they just didn't make a few intentional design decisions, one, overemphasis on hitscan enemies, two, reducing the laser gun and sniper to barely ever used secret weapons that you wont have ammo for to be viable, three, designing some areas to work in mind ONLY using the rocket launcher, as the game does not give you ammo for anything else, forcing you to pick up more and more rockets from the infinite rocket crates, ammo management irrelevant, five, the tentacled witch thing locking you in place on sight and having invulnerability periods, finally six having those crappy monkey alien sections that contribute absolutely nothing to the game.
There's so much more that can be said... Like the lack of creative secrets areas, some of which were literally just a single pill around a corner that doesn't even trigger anything. Then there's the bland atmosphere of the world. Grey-brown city to grey-brown desert to grey-brown temple structures, reflecting the modern military shooter component it had. The choice of style for the pump shotgun, pistol and rifle were just bland and the reloading was completely unnecessary. The three major boss fights were *all* awful. The first two were the same damn space ship, which is essentially a worse version of the worst boss from Second Encounter. The last one is straight-up unintuitive with no hint on what to even do to kill it. Without looking it up, I never even realized that there's a damn jetpack and those metal rods only kept me from looking for it because they practically told me that they are the solution, but didn't tell me how they were the solution. Needless to say that they were an awful way of doing a boss fight to begin with. And once you know how to do it, it's a breeze. I'm not even sure you actually need to fire a single shot to kill him. It says a lot when the most engaging (mini-)boss fight was the Biomech Major. The amount of smoke that is kicked up, especially by explosions is downright ridiculous and makes it seem like all kamikazes now carry one smoke bomb and one regular bomb in their hands. The glory kills were executed in an absolutely awful manner and could vary from completely OP to completely suicidal. The humour was pretty much dead. Almost everything was either a recycled one-liner from a previous game or plain bad like Sam talking about sticks of dynamite when using C4 charges. That's like eating a pizza and saying how tasty that hamburger you're eating is. Serious Sam 2's humour went for quantity over quality. Serious Sam 3's humour had neither quantity nor quality.
@@Tyrian3k At this point, you're just nit-picking and confusing personal opinion with 'objective fact'. The setting fits with the apocalyptic story, the smoke is simple but effective attention to detail
23:40 Zeb89 Is the one who made the serious sam saga famous in Italy, especially in the period from 2009 to 2014. He was also classified up to about 2012 as the serious sam hd tse deathmach strongest player. His videos about serious Sam in general were so fun

Serious Sam 2 was my first serious sam game, and remains to this day my favorite ever out of the series. I love SS First and Second Ecounter, and SS3 as well (because of the mods). But I will never understand this hatred towards SS2, for me it is a brilliantly made game and very underrated.
I won't go into details, otherwise this comment would be too long. But in short, one of the main reason people don't like SS2 is because it has too many stuff for it's own good. Like, it sounds really weird, most games would benefit from bigger rooster of enemies and weapons. But not Serious Sam. Because, what main series games besides SS2 do best is subtly teaching players it's mechanics. A player in his first hour would just try using whatever weapon has equipped to whatever enemy charges at him first. A player after one hundred hours will assess the situation, target the most dangerous enemy available, change to appropriate weapon and kill it first. It's weird how everyone that put some hours into main series games knows to pick rocket launcher (or sniper rifle) against the green reptiloids and how many shots are necessary to take it down. Same with using Cannon against werebulls, double-barrel shotgun for kleers etc. Everyone that played one of these games for at least ten hours knows many combos like these. Now, tell me, how many combos a player will know after beating Serious Sam 2? It's weird saying this, but the main games are pretty tactical. Meanwhile, Serious Sam 2 is just a mindless shooter, kind of like Painkiller. And, before someone jumps on me, there's nothing wrong with mindless shooters. They can also be fun in their own way. The problem here is - it's a Serious Sam game without one of the core mechanics of the Serious Sam series. That's one of the main reasons Serious Sam fans don't like it.
@Eclipze Because the gameplay of SS2 sucks, and it’s objectively the weakest in the series. Maybe people are not that dumb to think that the game sucks because it’s cartoony? Maybe they have just realised that the gameplay is trash?
since you didn't mention, I'll assume you might not know it, but the Mutilator (The Arrow) gives feedback on when the enemy is killable, the bracelet will give a buzzing sound and flash red, when the enemy can be killed, that way you don't have to hold the trigger button any longer which kills the enemy slower and also overheats the Mutilator faster
Wow! I'm replaying all the games right now and knowing this made me use it more than, you know, once lol. I used it quite a bit now that I dont have to wait 2 years for the thing to work lol. Thanks for the info!
I always thought it was funny how a game that got sewn together from 3 different things ended up with such a strong identity and atmosphere, while I also like SS 4, that game lacked the strong identity
Really hope to see more of these Features, especially with the presentation in this video. This one combined the well researched facts and trivia I've come to expect from you, but it also includes a multitude of funny jokes! Absolutely great work! :)
1:20:30 I cannot express how HAPPY I am you cut to the Navy Seals pasta in that scene. I've been watching that a lot lately, and I would have felt hollow without seeing it in an actual review.
It seems like BFE is trying to represent First Encounter and Sam 4 is trying to represent second encounter, in terms of the locations and colors, and they both use a track from their respective game in the final level(Dunes in BFE boss fight, Grand Cathedral on From Earth With love) also every final level since Second Encounter in the main games is attempting to be a Grand Cathedral successor in design and gameplay. BFE's final level feels a lot like Grand Cathedral but has a very similar final boss fight to First Encounter.
2:00:37 I think the reason why Mental decided to scrap the concept of his forces having the SBC Cannon was because of the massive friendly fire there would be. Imagine having a large horde just for it to dissolve after one of your units fired a cannonball, decimating most of their allies.
I feel like I like Serious Sam 3 a bit more everytime I revisit it It's definitely not a bad game, just had a few issues What an amazing video man! Totally enjoyed it! Can't wait for your next one!
Whenever I have an urge to revisit SS3, the mere prospect of navigating this horrible underground sections and boring first half of the game totally kills it.
1:20:00 That rant coming from the serious and top badass fighter was so unexpected and hilarious it gave me a great laughter. It even goes on afterwards, he never stopped the entire trip and keeps on ranting through the com long after she's left. Seeing the whole thing made my throat hurt and gave me such a cough from the spontaneous hilarity. This entire thing is edited so well and the added edits of comedy and "Of fuuf" keeps it fresh and funny through out. But that rant was just the serious bomb of it all.
You know, despite me playing the game for more, than 8 years and completing it maybe half a dozen times already - I still heavily enjoyed the whole video. After watching it I thought that it was only ~hour long and I was suprised that it was actually 2.5! You're doing a GREAT job, mate ;)
Drop in the ocean, but I just wanted to say that I really enjoy this video and your videos in general. I've been sinking my teeth into more long-form content, and your coverage of uncommon things that you care deeply about is very refreshing. Keep up the good work!
I used to play this game so much with my brother when we were younger. This video gave me so much flashbacks, and had me laughing my ass off. Good job man 👍🏻
"Here's a Beheaded Sirian. There's only one type in this game: the purple-shirted Rocketeer." Beheaded Kamikaze: AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA
Great video! I love SS3's direction with story & gritty atmosphere, it fits well with the situation on Earth, especially in the last level when you realize Sam is the last human alive on the planet. One interesting note I have to make is in the DLC, while Laser Gun & Sniper Rifle become weapons you can pick up traditionally, Minigun & Cannon become secret weapons instead. Took me a while to realize that.
I have this on my second monitor while I'm at work and it ticks me off because now I can't just stop and play Serious Sam 3. Frickin love that game. I know the early realistic areas aren't everybody's thing, but once you get a few levels in, it picks right up and goes full Serious Sam and it's wonderful. It truly grows into the classic styling. The dark cavernous areas aren't as fun, but the big open battles are awesome, and I will NEVER forget the insanity of the final level. One of the biggest and most intense fights I've ever had in any video game. Legitimately unforgettable. At least for me. ^_^
Wanted to finish this in its entirety before commenting. I'm really digging these new Feature videos. Long, informative, entertaining. I love them. Can't wait for the next one.
Great video! Love the longer chapter-based feature format, and doing it in seriously-chronological order is a real clever idea. SS3 is unfairly maligned but not TOO unfairly, Croteam had surely many opportunities to look at the feedback they'd received on past games and decide if their SS3 was interpreting it too literally. Even the 'least good' Sam game is still one of the best first person arcade shooters out there; to me, SS3 holds the 'least good' title, but this video demonstrates why both parts can be true!
However I could have done without the big ass screen-sized pop up of a real spider in the midst of chatting about the alien bug spiders, I don't think it was worth potentially scaring the audience for the gag...
This isn't my favorite in the series, but this feature brought to light some little things that might make me replay it. I actually played the original and not fusion build of the game so that's why I felt like my playthrough was more of a slog. God those underground areas sucked. Any Sam content is good Sam content from you Frame! And now, time for the timestamps that made me laugh: 37:09 50:57 55:07 1:12:53 1:20:19 _bonk_ 1:41:09 1:43:35 1:51:51 1:54:12 1:59:47 Thanks for another quality funny Feature Frame!
Having it for next year even - is still a maybe. Giving myself a due date for this project was a huge mistake. The answer for the followup release will for quite a while be: when it comes. 😃
Great video Framerater. Also, here are some stuff i have noticed and/or wonna share with the community: 1)Fusion has faster reload. You can't reload cancel by starting a sprint but you can reload cancel by faster weapon switch 2)Regarding the rocket launcher secret in no place to hide: you can either climb up and jump over the wall to grab it and use the rl to destroy the wall or simply use the rocket launcher from the first level to destroy the wall as well.By doing that you save c4 (saw dickmccool doing it the guy who managed to beat vanilla bfe serious 100% speedrun in under 3 hours and ss4 in 4) 3)I actually enjoy the dark bride fights. It testes your aim, awareness, and rewards players who can aim fast or control the situation while in ss4 they are a complete joke that can be killed in 1 sniper headshot 4)Surprised how you did not mention that bfe ladder animation surpasses the one in ss4 in every single way 5)You don't have to climb down all the way down for the Vista/sniper secret in power of the underworld. You can do the source/goldsource trick: jump down and before reaching the ground climb up the ladder by spamming E/use key or simply move towards ladder 6)Instead of using the sledgehammer/axe to destroy wooden doors: position yourself so that when shooting with the singleshotgun all the pellets hit the door. Its quicker and more efficient 7)Regarding weird audio/voice sound from john j dick in Jewel of the Nile,as he (voice actor john) stated in reddit ama: he doesnt know why it sounds like that.He recorded the jotn files in same way as he did for bfe so i guess something went wrong when implementing the files or in post processing? I don't know 8)It is possible to beat the game without taking a single damage from enemies. At least i know that the first 9 levels can (serious difficulty).Safe to say,the rest of it can be done as well.
This video is super well done! I've never actually played a serious sam game but after seeing this i was intrigued and got 3s best edition on sale on steam and honestly love it lmao (i know first and second encounter are the fan favourites i just liked the setting and style of 3)
Just to clarify the players mentioned in the alley are the Serious Sam 3 beta testers. Unfortunately for us Fusion beta testers we never got the chance to be mentioned in the games, only in the credits at the very bottom.
@@milanfrags we were testing all 3 games before there were released. There wasn't any plan really so we just played every gamemodes and every API for any problems. And oh boy there was. It sometimes took 5 or 10 builds over many weeks before one could go public. And yes that included the hard+ difficulty which changed during testing. Breaking the spawns at the same time.
@@milanfrags personally I've been on the testing group since around the announcement of SSHD TFE VR. I remember SS3 at that time was the Ps3 port as it was the most up to date build.
@@milanfrags I remember at one point the spawners glitched and basically doubled. So instead of spawning 4 Biomechs it'll spawn 8. That's how some testers got impossible scores.
I think the headcanon for the series' continuity should be thought of this: SS2 is a sequel, but to the Xbox continuity. TFE and TSE's Xbox ports were given a wacky, cartoony modification to the story & style, and you see gameplay footage of TSE's Xbox version in the intro of SS2. Thus, you could see 2 timelines: the original and the Xbox one. Next Encounter may likely also take place sometime in the latter.
I'm pretty sure the ghost versions of Jones and Rodriguez were meant to play a bigger role than they did. They have all the necessary animations to be an npc.
2:00:40 I think I know the explanation behind lore inconsistency concerning Highlander Reptiloids and Raahloom. When Jewel of the Nine first came out for original BFE, Raahloom didn't have NETRICSA entry(the very name of it was found by digging through game files). Some time later, Solais - at that time just a modder - released a series of SS3' Workshop addons titled "Ultimate Resource Pack", that, among adding multiple new enemies and their variations and other stuff, gave Raahloom dedicated NETRICSA entry. It's the same one that is seen in Fusion. It seems that, when working on Fusion as part of Croteam, Solais decided to add NETRICSA entry on Rahloom from their mod to the game. I mean, it makes sense, but it does also create a minor lore inconsistency, as you pointed it out. Well, it can be hand waved as either a small retcon or BFE taking place in parallel timeline.
I feel bad for this video having such low viewcount. It's a work that took a tremendous amount of time i would like to see it being rewarded properly. Although i disagree with some of the things that being said in this video (i hate machine gun's reloading and how it feels out of place, considering the crates with infinite ammo and the fact, that majority of other weapons dont need reloading), i still respect author's opinion and the way he presented that. One of the best Serious Sam content on youtube. Cant wait to see same FrameRater Features on the remaining games of the series.
I was surprised how many secrets were in the building you fall on at the beginning. There's one in the Broken Wings chapter I think you didn't mention. When you're entering the long corridors to reach extraction point, you can skip the entire corridor section filled with blue soldiers and kamikazes. Just before you get inside the first Courtyard, there's wall on the left with a bush or something breakable, can't remember. Behind that is a vent. you can somehow open this vent in the level. The vent takes you behind the container from which the first bull appears.
Oh my God you're actually right, I just checked to be sure. I always thought that vent was pointless and figured it would've made for a good secret. I'm glad you told me this.
I hate that the way Sam is modelled in this game it makes him look like, rather than having a bulky and muscular neck, he just has no shoulders, like his arms are hanging to the sides, it ruins the impression of a manly badass that Croteam no doubt were aiming for. he just looks like that virgin walk meme
frankly I liked this game better than TSE, as for Judy Mental, I think it may make sense that Mental created her in his biolabs as a clone of himself should Sam succeed, and named her Judy Mental because by that time he knew what humanity called him, and picked a human name for her as a sick joke. As is, I like it, it's a nice little bit of abstract humor for the end of the game, that goes perfectly with the idea of destroying Earth using its Moon, it's crazy while keeping itself tonally serious, it's not like SS2 which is way too in your face and outright idiotic, or SS4 which tries way too hard to be hip and self-aware like a Marvel movie
I'm pretty sure the "No cover all man" was about not having the "press x to hide behind cover" mechanic that would also regenerate your health. Most games at that time (and still today) do that. It wasn't about literally not using any cover at all.
@@ChaseMC215 No... that text in COD makes sense because that's literally what the game mechanic is. Hide behind a cover and wait a bit to heal. This game does not do that and the whole marketing "no cover all man" was about it. I'm pretty sure about it.
1:26:32 You don't need to hold primary fire for too long with the Bracelet. You can see on the model when it's ready for you to release the fire button. You can use the Bracelet a lot more before it overheats.
I've always wanted video games to have giant monsters that eat you or/at you if you wandered too far off the path. I'm always afraid that if I go out of bounds in a video game where you can see the weird colored voids outside that some giant monster will show up. Always wanted to have that in a video game where there's a monster so unbelievably big. It feels like it covers the entire map, just hiding completely out of bounds to the point where you'd have to travel so far in order to get to it and it just swallows you a hole if you start exploring too far out of bounce
I've been trying to find some long-form content to listen to at work and also wanted to learn more about the serious sam franchise, this did both perfectly
On your thoughts regarding the stone tablet, you forgot one thing. One of them, found in the Dark Bride, mentions "the One Infinite" aka Tah-Um (Mental).
SS2 is actually very fun. got that and the Gamecube spinoff, and playing both on original hardware is surprisingly fun. And thats after I played FE/SE HD, BFE, and SS4 on PS5....it's definitely a different feel, but yet the same fun arena shooter. While not canon, I really reccomend ANYONE that loves SS to at least give it a try without any bias, you may be surprised!
yeah i think the point was to make you care about the characters in 3. because they get like no screen time in 3, mean mostly nothing to the plot, and then die
Thank you for this entertaining and informative video. You and a handful of other youtubers do a great job of highlighting the artisanal, loveable jank of this misunderstood game franchise that is refreshing in a time of homogeneous, bland, and soulless FPS shooters out there. You created a SS fan out of me.
I'm actually one of the people who genuinely enjoys this game. The modern touches like the environments and mechanics (reloading, aiming, sprinting) never really bothered me. This game feels like a response to Sam 2's more mixed reception, and goes back to the classics. You'd think fans would've appreciated that change. It seems like CT was in a really bad situation after Sam 2 didn't perform too well, and it often feels like it wasn't the sequel to TSE they wanted to make in the first place, and all of this has led to extreme division in the community, combined them complaining and nit-picking the weirdest things (up to the point where a lot of it feels outright self-entitled), and CT being unsure what to do next The tone honestly makes sense considering the context and the story. Even the connections with this game's story to 4's story make sense to me. We go from Sam 4's noticeably more vibrant and lush environments to BFE's gritty, war-torn setting, showing humanity lost big-time. Even Sam's and other characters' change in personality show how bad things got for humanity
2:03:25 Earlier you were talking about music. Some of my fave of SS3 is at this point in the oasis, once the enemies are gone. If you stand around a happier music motif plays. (There's also a great tech tune plays somewhere around the museum I think eiteher side of the underground bits.
2:12 you pretty explained in short why i still have this game installed and want to get back to it but at the same time don't feel like turning it on again
2:28:38 Years ago there were a channel on TH-cam, called GalleyUK. He made a video or video series playthrough on Serious difficulty and taking no damage. It was a multi segment playthrough, but still, manageable. Unfortunately after he stopped uploading for a while, the channel disappeared without a trace :( He had a bunch of interesting videos, e.g. Blood and Shadow warrior playthroughs as well.
1:59:05 This is Fusion's fault yet again, original SS3 didn't have a Netricsa entry for Raahloom, so they took the one that the mod Ultimate Resource Pack had, which also had Highlanders in it, which explains the info.
Hello, I recently discovered your channel (less than 6 months ago) and I like most videos you have created to the point I wanna say a few things. Well, I hope you see this comment and reply to it before you create your eventual review video about Serious Sam 1 and/or The Second Encounter. 1.First and second encounter were originally supposed to be a single game but Croteam split it into 2 parts (don't know if there were supposed to be more parts) with the end result being different from their vision (originally, Sam was gonna visit alien planets based on the 4 elements and finally go to planet Sirius to kill Mental himself). 2.Second encounter is more of an expansion pack which was made in less than a year and it shows- granted it uses the same engine and assets from the first encounter, however there are other proof as well that I have listed below (know that the SE boxart is poorly made due to Croteam being rushed and it's visible upon closer look). 3.Two of the secrets are broken, first is when you start the singleplayer campaign from the ''In the last episode...'' level which is an intro cutscene using FE assets (BTW, you have registered 1 kill because in the cutscene Ugh Zan the 3rd is killed). Valley of the Jaguar has the second broken secret (the breakable ledge with the powerup when you enter the large open area with the altar and 3 pyramids), though I was able to fix that using the level editor (however I don't know if the other broken secret could be fixed). 4.Good thing to know is that FE has 15 levels (2 of which are optional/secret) while SE has 12 (without any optional/secret ones). For compensation, most of SE's levels are longer than the average FE level. BTW, as far as I know the only other game in the series which also has optional/secret levels is Serious Sam: The Next Encounter. 5.Possibly to make the game easier and/or because it was a rushed expansion pack, the enemy placement is more scarce and random while in FE they were more abundant plus deliberately often placed in the most fiendish locations to make the game difficult (behind player, after picking up a small armor and/or shield item). 6.Largely secrets have been increased, FE has 80-90 secrets while SE has 140-150 secrets total. BTW, this is about the original classic non-HD versions of the games. 7.About historical accuracy- while there are a few liberties taken, Egypt in FE and the Central American chapter of SE are very well-researched and resemble their real world counterparts. However, the Mesopotamian and Middle Ages Eastern Europe chapters are way more inaccurate likely because the developers couldn't do research on them and they wanted to make them interesting gameplay-wise. (history rant incoming ahead) The Mesopotamia chapter is a mixture of Babylon (the successor of Sumer, Assyria and Akkad which are among the earliest civilizations in the world) and Persia (Achaemenid empire plus dynasty that originates from Afghanistan which practiced the monotheistic religion of Zoroastrianism). Granted, it's true that Persia conquered then assimilated and removed the Babylonians from Mesopotamia (in the process freeing the enslaved ancient Jews) and then became one of the biggest/strongest empires of the ancient world. But SE appears to treat them as one and the same plus it includes other random Middle Eastern influences- Gilgamesh from Sumer is the namesake of one level even though he (plus his city) died long before Babylon even existed, the last level in this chapter is named after the Tower of Babel which is basically a fairy tale by ancient Jews inspired by a Babylonian ziggurat (remember that the Babylonians enslaved the Jews which made the latter hate the former so the slaves demonized their enemies, many demons in Judeo-Christianity are actually bastardized versions of Mesopotamian deities) and lastly some of the level textures are based on Medieval Arabic Islamic patterns (including mosque-type roof tops and towers) which is extremely anachronistic. I would mention that Muslims also conquered north India at one point in history, which is why the architecture and culture there is Islamic such as the famous Taj Mahal. Apologies for the long rant, I am a big history geek. 8.I get the feeling one of the reasons why Croteam doesn't make any more Serious Sam games which take place in real world ancient historical cultures is because they wasted their ideas in SE, also The Next Encounter had Rome plus China and Atlantis (though the last one isn't real). Also, not every geographic location and time period are interesting to most people, for example ancient Celts would be just a bunch of wooden cabins, huts with straw roofs and Stonehenge. I don't think Croteam could make ancient locations which are unique (Japan resembles China, the Aztecs resemble the Mayans, Greeks resemble the Romans even though there is a Serious Sam spinoff based in ancient Greece, etc) anymore. 9.Deity Kukulkan boss fight (he's Mayan, while his Aztec counterpart Quetzalcoatl is more famous) was originally supposed to be the Mayan rain god Chaac (look in the game's files). Gotta mention that he is a recycled Air Elemental mook (only remaning part of this enemy type are the lava golems) from the original Serious Sam alpha prototype. 10.Must say lastly that English isn't my birth language so I apologize if my typing is hard to understand. The final thing I gotta mention is random trivia- FE had only 1 multiplayer level while SE has about 10, all the weapons were supposed to originally appear in FE but were cut, Serious bomb item/weapon is coded uniquely from other weapons and behaves differently based on if you are playing the classic version or the HD remake, the Aludran Reptiloid Highlander enemies have increased health and their projectiles are different compared to FE, it's actually possible (albeit hard) to hurt yourself with the flamethrower weapon and lastly the demo level (Palenque) wasn't released alongside the SE game so you gotta download it off the Internet while FE came alongside a free demo/training level (Karnak) which appears in the singleplayer menu and is visually different. Hoping you remember and keep in mind what information I just shared with you before creating your video review about SS1 and/or TSE. Wish you good luck dude, please keep being entertaining/cool and take care of yourself considering there is a pandemic troubling our world.
I don't think the chainballs are homing, they're just horizontal making them harder to dodge, also Rocketeers have an alternate attack, which in fact is a homing projectile, but it is destructable
They don't home but the Kleers do throw them in a way that predicts where you are currently going, instead of throwing straight at where you are standing at the moment.
I love how the pyramids are 2 feet away from the city in level 5 but then in level 6 the city is 3043km away and the pyramid somehow moved back
Mental's mental magic xD

16:30 Oh boy, the SS3 shotgun.
Not only does it magically fit 10/15 shells in its magazine, the model for said magazine is just a cut off stanag from the Assault rifle.
The mag well is also just ripped from the rifle, so it says "5.56" on the side.
Oh, and the art book for SS4 still mentions it's shotgun having a 10 round mag, so thats your fun fact of the day (unless they finally fixed it)

its also a cheap airsoft shotgun design

I completely agree with both of these. This game had so much potential.
@@Tyrian3k At this point, you're just nit-picking and confusing personal opinion with 'objective fact'. The setting fits with the apocalyptic story, the smoke is simple but effective attention to detail

Serious Sam 2 was my first serious sam game, and remains to this day my favorite ever out of the series. I love SS First and Second Ecounter, and SS3 as well (because of the mods). But I will never understand this hatred towards SS2, for me it is a brilliantly made game and very underrated.
SS2 is just boring to play
Don't listen to that sucker, SS2 is the best.
@@xotl2780 Yeah, don’t listen to people who have standards
Intriguing. Yeah I never made a note of that.
@@FrameRater don't blame you it took countless playthroughs to even notice the red thing then google to see what it does

Great analysis for a great game. Happy birthday Serious Sam 3!
2:00:37
I think the reason why Mental decided to scrap the concept of his forces having the SBC Cannon was because of the massive friendly fire there would be. Imagine having a large horde just for it to dissolve after one of your units fired a cannonball, decimating most of their allies.
Freaking love these features. Informative and keeps me laughing too. Always love it when a serious sam framerater video shows up :)

It's definitely not a bad game, just had a few issues

Still my favorite Sam game. I love most everything about this game. The only thing I really hate about it is how absurd the auto aim is

I always thought I was the only one who noticed that, the minigun and cannon are indeed secret-only in the DLC now
I have this on my second monitor while I'm at work and it ticks me off because now I can't just stop and play Serious Sam 3. ^_^
This feature video was AWSOME. Keep it up man 👍👍
It's honestly nice to see a huge review like this that's mostly positive about Serious Sam 3 considering all the flack I see this game get sometimes.
Wanted to finish this in its entirety before commenting. I'm really digging these new Feature videos. Long, informative, entertaining. I love them. Can't wait for the next one.
looking forward to frameraters reviews of dark and bright island.
I'm not sure if anyone out there that thinks the same but instead of "least good" ss3 is the best ss game imo.
This isn't my favorite in the series, but this feature brought to light some little things that might make me replay it. I actually played the original and not fusion build of the game so that's why I felt like my playthrough was more of a slog. God those underground areas sucked. Good stuff i can't believe i managed to watch entire thing, would love to see some SS2 stuff as well !
Great video Framerater. Also, here are some stuff i have noticed and/or wonna share with the community:
1)Fusion has faster reload. You can't reload cancel by starting a sprint but you can reload cancel by faster weapon switch
2)Regarding the rocket launcher secret in no place to hide: you can either climb up and jump over the wall to grab it and use the rl to destroy the wall or simply use the rocket launcher from the first level to destroy the wall as well.By doing that you save c4 (saw dickmccool doing it the guy who managed to beat vanilla bfe serious 100% speedrun in under 3 hours and ss4 in 4)
3)I actually enjoy the dark bride fights. It testes your aim, awareness, and rewards players who can aim fast or control the situation while in ss4 they are a complete joke that can be killed in 1 sniper headshot
4)Surprised how you did not mention that bfe ladder animation surpasses the one in ss4 in every single way
5)You don't have to climb down all the way down for the Vista/sniper secret in power of the underworld. You can do the source/goldsource trick: jump down and before reaching the ground climb up the ladder by spamming E/use key or simply move towards ladder
6)Instead of using the sledgehammer/axe to destroy wooden doors: position yourself so that when shooting with the singleshotgun all the pellets hit the door. Its quicker and more efficient
7)Regarding weird audio/voice sound from john j dick in Jewel of the Nile,as he (voice actor john) stated in reddit ama: he doesnt know why it sounds like that.He recorded the jotn files in same way as he did for bfe so i guess something went wrong when implementing the files or in post processing? I don't know
8)It is possible to beat the game without taking a single damage from enemies.
Unfortunately for us Fusion beta testers we never got the chance to be mentioned in the games, only in the credits at the very bottom.
what were you testing exactly? new bfe spawns and hard+ attacks, performance?
@@milanfrags we were testing all 3 games before there were released. There wasn't any plan really so we just played every gamemodes and every API for any problems. And oh boy there was. It sometimes took 5 or 10 builds over many weeks before one could go public. And yes that included the hard+ difficulty which changed during testing. Breaking the spawns at the same time.
@@milanfrags personally I've been on the testing group since around the announcement of SSHD TFE VR. I remember SS3 at that time was the Ps3 port as it was the most up to date build.
Cool. Well im glad you all participated since fusion did indeed fix some spawns however some remain still broken to this day which is a shame
@@milanfrags I remember at one point the spawners glitched and basically doubled. So instead of spawning 4 Biomechs it'll spawn 8. That's how some testers got impossible scores.

1:22:22 Anyone noticed that Scrapjacks are actually backing off a bit because of rocket recoil?
Great video, loved your editing style and jokes, thanks for all the hard work :)
2:45 I love how seemingly in response to that, there’s an option to turn blood into confetti in the remasters
I think the headcanon for the series' continuity should be thought of this:
SS2 is a sequel, but to the Xbox continuity.
1:24:35 the devastator does have a scope on the console release of the serious sam collection, it also lacks third person animations for some reason.
I love these new Feature videos. I love serious Sam 3 it’s extremely flawed but overall I think it’s a worth entry in the franchise.
I have to say. Legit every nanosecond of this was entertaining.
1:24:28 Some players (that includes us testers) do have the DLC's bonus content in Fusion (yes even the scope).
Now that… was a seriously awesome feature.
@@FrameRater Always happy to help :)
Sooooooo it makes the "You Are Hurt. Get To Cover" text in CoD games pointless then?
@@ChaseMC215 No... that text in COD makes sense because that's literally what the game mechanic is. Hide behind a cover and wait a bit to heal. This game does not do that and the whole marketing "no cover all man" was about it. I'm pretty sure about it.
Fun Fact: Kiesel is the german word for pebble, Stein is german for stone.

You don't need to hold primary fire for too long with the Bracelet. You can see on the model when it's ready for you to release the fire button. You can use the Bracelet a lot more before it overheats.
Man, your editing in those long videos is top notch.
2:19:17 It would’ve been perfect if you played the Hero theme song here after saying “Right?”. But still, awesome video!
1:48:20 made me chuckle quite a bit.

Awesome video as usual frame! Getting close to 100k I see, good on you bro.
I think the reason serious Sam 4 has a lot of characters and has you spend a lot of time with them is because everyone dies in this one.
yeah i think the point was to make you care about the characters in 3. because they get like no screen time in 3, mean mostly nothing to the plot, and then die
Kleer Skeleton's alt attack isn't homing, it just has a wider hitbox. Beheaded Rocketeer's alt attack IS homing.
"SAM 4 3VR" = Sam forever.
Im glad SS2 was my first SS game. I really dug its off the wall aproach to being a game. I really like hearing SS vets opinions though.
It seems like CT was in a really bad situation after Sam 2 didn't perform too well, and it often feels like it wasn't the sequel to TSE they wanted to make in the first place, and all of this has led to extreme division in the community, combined them complaining and nit-picking the weirdest things (up to the point where a lot of it feels outright self-entitled), and CT being unsure what to do next
The tone honestly makes sense considering the context and the story.

2:27:29 Technopolipes are easily manageable with C4.
2:12 you pretty explained in short why i still have this game installed and want to get back to it but at the same time don't feel like turning it on again
This might be even better than the last S. Sam video you dropped. That's saying something too since the last video was pretty great!
I will commit a sin by saying this, but Serious Sam 3 is my favourite game in the series and favourite game period.
Oh yeah I remember that channel. May have had a few interactions with them as well, but I'm not sure. The name is definitely familiar.
1:49:10 To Be Continued...
the original doesn't have that pile of kleer skulls in the first level, I didn't know that

"An accurate representation of Danny S. developing a Serious Doom mod."
tOtAlLy AgReE!!! XD
i will wait for SERIOUS SAM Next Encounter Feature
I don't think the chainballs are homing, they're just horizontal making them harder to dodge, also Rocketeers have an alternate attack, which in fact is a homing projectile, but it is destructable
They don't home but the Kleers do throw them in a way that predicts where you are currently going, instead of throwing straight at where you are standing at the moment.
@@techiyo1115 yeah, that seems right, like the Lava Golems and Robot Spiders from SS2 do
Love this series, thanks for your work FR!
