Nice video! However, to avoid scratches you should really try to gently pry open the handlebar clamp slightly, that install looked a bit crude. Intend supplies a wooden spade for this purpose, and it really helps.
This was a old spare aluminum bar I had laying around that had scratches on it already. 77 Designs actually warn not to use anything to pry the gap further when installing. Thank you for watching though and appreciate the feedback.
@LaurentiusTriarius it's designed for a lil bit of prying but I don't think as much as some. I kinda like the bike yoke barkeeper with the shim set up 31.8mm bars and the 35mm shim makes it easy
Just squeezed a oneup bar (20mm rise) into a 77 stem. Had to use tire levers to open the stem up a bit (not recommended by manufacturer) and search for the right angle. Combined weight is 308g (35mm stem, uncut 800mm bar). Saved 120g to the raceface turbine stuff it replaced. Does that matter? No. But its cool
It’s all personal preference. You are correct it only suits certain setups but I was successful in fitting an enve 27.5 and tag metals 30. So it can fit a wide variety of stems but to bad they don’t have a fit guide. I have the intend version now with 35mm one up
Honestly check out the bikeyoke and the three rocks components 1 piece stems. 77designz is weeniest option I think. Bikeyoke seems best combo for strength to weight but looks suffer. Intend grace lacks reach options. Three rocks is heavier but cheaper and looks good. That said. Bikeyoke and some 76mm rise protapers sre gonna be my choice with a shim. Ultimate engineering vyce stem might be worth looking at. Design sucks for bmx in some regards but 31.8mm or 35mm clamp and less rotational leverage make the design make sense for mtb.
But it's purely based off radius of bends and taper. Some taller bars are better safe options. Deity highside 80mm rise and 50mm rise Protapers. Bad options Spank spoon bars in taller rises.
Best one-piece stem is the BikeYoke Barkeeper.

Depends on the stem. Some of them are designed with no spreading in mind. Thus light grease and make sure no sharp radius bends and a nice taper.
@@RideEatWander I fitted my grace stem on a one up aluminium 35 mm bar I did pry it open with the wood shim... Will i die?! 😓💀😂
@@bmxriderforlife1234idk for this one but when I got the grace from intend I saw the guy in the offical install vid pry the thing open so I did ...

hi mate do you have a follow up video in regards to the stem length video ?
I’m working on a cockpit video and how changes to certain components can change the bike geometry. Be on the lookout!
NEWMEN have a one piece stem too - 50mm one is only 69 grams and I think it can handle any type of 31.8 (only) bar. Costs 99 euro.
Nice those look sweet as well
The Problem with This Steam is that the steam Gas no rise up and the bar can only have 20mm rise.

I'd be worried about how strong it is.

Protapers.

I am the oddball, I love my diety 80mm rise bars anything under 75 mm feels wrong. Pretty sure that stem won't work.
You would be correct 😂. Are those BMX bars
@Ride Eat Wander dirt jumpers.
Makes sense.
