This is a super quality video in every respect. Moreover a super listening example with a super voice/singer! Great, grande, großartig. 👍🏻👏🏻👍🏻👏🏻👍🏻👏🏻👍🏻 and as I own Ozone 9 Advanced, I‘ll try these compressors, because this example sounds really good! May I ask you: What App do you use to make these videos for us? I mean, while showing the compressor in large in the main window, you can be seen on the bottom right corner with the Macbook in front of you in great quality.
Awesome video. Would like to learn more about specific things you mentioned, as in rock/pop vocals, drums and all other instruments. Are there general guidelines, such as drums equals certain amount of attack/release, etc. Thanks!
Thanks for this video Sweetwater! please make a part 2 with more intricacies and subtler dimensions of compression few questions 1) how do you compare the quality of vocal compression done by a black lion K2A vs Kush Tweaker? 2) how close does the Universal Audio LA2A plugin get to the Black Lion KT 2A? This is using a good Neumann TLM 47 mic and high quality interface such as Apogee Symphony or like so......... i know both get the job done, however is there a real audible difference in the whole mix? that oh yea looks like he used a hardware LA2A...... in many ways, the UA LA 2A is even more expensive because one has to then buy a satellite to use his plugins.....however the convenience of software + recall abilities + no tubes going bad or hardware maintenance..... are other factors that need to be considered....but im most curious about sound quality 3) often the pros say, its better to use 2 or 3 vocal compressors like LA2A in series doing 2db each vs one compressor doing 6db each, does this theory hold true for this specific Izotope compressor?
Hello Jacob! I am an aspiring producer and want to know what kind of education have you gone through? I'm curious as to how you know so many things about so many different DAW's? Please give a thumbs up so he can see this (:
if you want something visual ad you want to see whats happening in more depth and more clearly i would recommend the fabfilter pro-c 2, personally i find it much more intuitive than the ozone. also, it is much better, for example ozone ratio goes up to 20:1, fabfilter goes up to 100:1
Great video, I have a 4pc band with 3 vocals, how do I get the background vocals to sit on top of the instruments and the lead to sit a little above that? the group is a Christian worship team so low to moderately loud overall sound that is balanced is the objective....any input you have would be wonderful. thank you in advance.
dont like videos like this because it doesnt show what a compressor does. You are paying a sample that is playing at the same volume. Ya itr can make it more "aggressive" but compressors are ment to fix dynamic issues.

This video sums up everything on compression. Thank you Sweetwater.
Finally someone who explains the compression knobs and the logic behind it in an understandable way.
But I'd like you to deal about "knee" as well.
We need more videos like this on the regular. Sweetwater EDU lol
And we don't know who those two idiots who clicked dislike.
Good overview. Well done. Thanks.
Very humble that Shia LaBeouf would put out a video like this.
Such a great and simple explanation! Thank you.
Great video! I wish I had this years ago. It took me a long time to wrap my head around compressors. :) But really they are pretty simple.
Nicely explained Jacob.
Very cool... good video
Brilliant! Thanks very much!!!

I still don't understand how bringing the softess and the hardest part of the sound, and squeezing it together makes it louder?...SBN RESONATE
