400 years old Shahi Idgah of Patna was built by Saif Khan, brother-in-law of Shah Jahan

According to historians, Shah Jahan had a close relationship with Patna City. As soon as he sat on the throne, his brother-in-law Saif Khan was made the Subedar of Bihar by Shah Jahan. It was only after this that a huge mosque and madrasa were built by Subedar Saif Khan on the banks of the Ganges in Jhauganj. At present, people know it by the name of Madrasa Masjid. Along with the construction of a 40-pillared hall, popularly known as Chahalsoom, the Shahi Idgah near Gulzarbagh was also built. During Shah Jahan's reign, Patna had remained the primary city in Bihar Province. Saif Khan - governor there from 1628 until 1632.
