Dhaka Metrorail is a rapid mass transit system in Dhaka, the capital of Bangladesh. The controlling body of Metrorail is Dhaka Mass Transit Company Limited.JICA and DMTCL have planned to build a total of 6 metro lines with a length of 128 km by 2030. The network will have 51 aerial stations and 53 underground stations. The six lines combined can carry 4.7 million passengers a day.[4] On 28 December 2022, the Uttara North to Agargaon section of MRT Line 6 was partially inaugurated in Dhaka by Bangladesh Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina and she was part of the first official journey of the metrorail.It was opened to public traffic from 29 December 2022.[8][9] Passenger service on the Agargao to Motijheel section of MRT Line-6 ​​began on 5 November 2023. Through this, Bangladesh became the 60th country to join Metrorail.
