The View Band - probably 1991 or 1992? Video footage from Glen Sharaga. All of Southern California knew The View - atop the Fashion Island, Newport Beach Marriott; The View was the hottest club mid 80's thru the 90's and the Tom Stein Band ran the party every weekend for nearly 2 decades.
Miss these guys - Brian Zsupnik passed away 10 year ago and Tom Stein just passed away June 2010.

Indeed, I have searched everywhere the internet just to find if exist a better version than this, because that's just me, when it comes to good music. The 90's were grait in terms of expression and feelings.

Rarely do you find musicians with this much passion for the craft. Singing his heart out. One of the greatest tenor players of all time in my books.
My name is Lance Parker on the saxophone player from Pittsburgh Pennsylvania studied with the great saxophone jazz players Sonny stitt in fact Sunny gave me his Mark 7 tenor saxophone in 1978 I used to travel with him and study on the road I play this song very similar to Greg Vail but in my opinion nobody does it better than Greg Vail he has mastered the song along with many other songs Richard Elliot also does another great job and of course the fabulous gato barbieri who originally did the song was fabulous but in my opinion nobody does it better than Greg Vail this message from sax player Lance Parker Pittsburgh PA

I'm a sax player and I know I'll never reach that level of playing. I love watching him hit those high altissimo notes and seemingly doing it with ease. I'm amazed at how he's not even breathing hard after the song. I can't believe some gave him a thumbs down.
He plays this from his heart!!!!! Just outstanding...listen to it 2 x a day. The sax is outrageous...must admid...love more his more than Gatos...takes my breath away...especially after Tim stain plays the keys...Greg blows it away

I didn't know this video existed. I was there most weekend nights throughout the nineties to absorb everything I could from Greg's playing and I'm sure I was there for this performance. I worked down the street at Irvine Marriot when Robert Conti played in the lobby a few years before he moved up to the View at Newport Marriot. As a local sax player myself I got a call from my agent to play table side sax for a couple at a nearby Laguna Bch restaurant, I was asked to play Europa so I played a few choruses and quickly moved on to "Feel Like Makin Love'" and a short version of Play misty for me. The girl at the table was in love with Europa because she heard Greg play it at the View. I made 300. and paid my agent 50 for 20 minutes and three songs. Thanks Greg,

Just incredible, that coming from a 47 year Gato fan. I will never say one is better than the other, it's just a different style, both are unique in their own way. Both knocking this Santana piece out of the park !!!

I used to live in O.C. and would go to see this band play often - the drummer Brian was killer (RIP) as was the entire band - Tom S. (RIP), too.......good times.......this is so 90's O.C.! Great players and a lovely cover......

Oh man, I remember you guys. I met Jerry Mathers at the View one night....the leave it to beaver guy. He was really nice. It was during Byron Scott's charity event there at the hotel. That night I also met Richard Roundtree....."Shaft." And Mark Eaton....RIP....the tallest largest human being I have ever seen. Utah Jazz Center....I think he was 7'5". Maybe you guys remember that night.....anyways....thanks and God bless.
