Woah I didn't anticipate that Capstan station is open today! Well then, this video is a celebration of it. I finished this video last week and scheduled it for today. Hope you enjoyed it and happy holidays!
6:16 If you want an all day service West Coast Express, you'd have to negotiate with CPKC to make it happen. CPKC owns the tracks the West Coast Express run on, so I understand if CPKC denies this. It's easier said than done to think, "Why don't they build their own tracks?" Well, funds, funds, funds, but expensive. It wouldn't be worth paying an expensive price for such service.
While I agree that the West Coast Express could stand to have frequent service both ways (seeing as I use it myself when I go into town), I wish you had touched upon the fact that Translink doesn't own those rails, they just rent them (and pay through the nose to do so). Getting even the 5 trains each way on weekdays was apparently an exercise in pulling teeth negotiating with CP and CN Rail, because, as with most rail lines, they make a lot more money from freight than passenger service, and thus don't want passenger trains taking up space. Also Langley is growing fast enough that your bus service ideas would probably have a lot of ridership, especially if they could work in some bus lanes along 200th Street
@@morethantransitt Maybe, given how many planned expansions and stations for RapidBus were scuttled due to CoViD lockdowns I don't hold much hope, but it would be nice
I think that TL should pursue something a little more radical, that is to pursue some form of eminent domain to confiscate some of the rail tracks and permanently dedicate them to WCE service. It's all time we recognize that freight rail companies are being far too greedy and essentially behaving like a mafia and holding the country hostage.
Capstan station actually opened today as this video comes out! And me releasing this video today is totally not intentionally for that!
I did go to the opening ceremony and it was great!
Capstan station actually opens today. Not sure if that was intentional.

Thanks for the inputs! I think my R3 expansion proposal can even reach the future 203rd Street station eventually!
