- Almost 8 years since I built my very last solo level, and years since I built my last anything. I want to create my own extreme demon, in a more modernistic style, and up to standard for what I think is good today. Taking inspiration from lonely travel, congregation, crossroads, and more experimental stuff, I'm excited to take this into the year with you all. please tell me if you think the rough idea for the layout is good. I didn't get too much done today, as I want to brief the idea to you all, and get your input in first, before taking it to twitch to build live. In future videos, I will be building more parts. Tell me what you think!

1 piece of advice I want to give is that "lock to player y" on overlay screens can be really buggy. I would recommend just making the screen cover all the vertical space it needs to. (lock to player x is fine) If you use slider limit in mega hack v7, you can scale up the overlay blocks to 5x scale to compensate (I don't recommend going bigger than that)
This is why the game needs a "lock to _camera_ y" option

lock to player y is bugged with teleports but if u use lock to player x with a move trigger and then use a follow player y trigger it will work perfectly
You can actually use "follow player y" and "follow" triggers for a overcomplicated solution

I am super excited to see you get into creating! :D I also love that you're seeing it as a way to have fun and express yourself because that's the only way to have longevity with it. A lot of people getting into creating I've seen just try to do really generic stuff and are only going for a rate and I really don't like that. It'll take practice, but you learn along the way and become exponentially better as you "learn to learn". I'm really excited to see your journey!
I know we don't know each other, but if you ever want advice on atmospheric details, that's my specialty ;) I'd love to help out with anything you want to learn about creating! You're a very cool dude, and I'm excited to see you get back into the other half of this game! Also excited for your atmospheric focus since that's what I love to see in levels. I love levels like The Clouds Give Way, Dark Odyssey, and The End for that reason.

I laughed way to hard when I got to that part
Decorating is by far the hardest part, takes quite a lot of time and if your not good at it the blocks turn out looking like playdough.

Try not to use mini-steps as much. They become a real hassle when decorating. If you want you can always half space stuff using the wulzy method.
really really depends on how you decorate, and just what your deco happens to be, if each block is given its own deco piece, then its just copying and just offseting to fit
i use wulzy method a lot. i also quarter space things sometimes
I'm pretty sure with mega hack v7 there is a thingamajig that makes the grid go from 30 to 15 to 7.5
or 60 to 120 and you get it
instead of the small spike you can use the two white squares in the chain tab for half and quarter

Aeon! Might I interest you in making your life significantly less painful? You can use the 1, 2 and 3 keys to switch between build, edit and delete modes, and holding down shift turns on swipe. No need to move your mouse all over the place when building / making changes :)

I love the way that players who don't build much but play a lot think about the game, they have this unique look at levels that can often result in some awesome creations, I am really exited for this level/series.

When making a black overlay try making the easing occur when making a transition, when having a jump from an overlay to the next section, its best to tease the next section along with the music. This makes the player feel more at ease, and makes the transition feel a lot smoother, ppl tend to not like transitions as much when they are sporadic + harsh on eyes. Sorry I might not be of use but its worth a try since I'm a creator :P

An actually good tip: Spamming glow everywhere automatically makes a bad block design look decent, and a decent block design look good. This actually really works, despite how much it is memed.
