Great video once again Pad! I loved going through all these tracks i havent heard in years like freddy fish and diddy kong racing and songs i've never heard before like the lsd dream emulator track and roll away. Here's some of my personal favorites i'd recommend for that dreamy, aesthetic vibe. Zora Cape - Ocarina of Time Sky and Sea - Mario Sunshine You've come far, Ness - Earthbound Rainbow Resort - Kirby's Adventure Shooting Star Summit - Paper Mario 64 The Great Boggly Tree - Paper Mario Thousand Year Door Garage - Fzero GX Bubbly Washing Machine - Super Monkey Ball 2 Law's Theme - Tekken 2 Tidal Tempest - Sonic CD JP Summer Forest - Spyro 2 Observatory - Majora's Mask

Some of my faves include: After the Dream - NiGHTS into dreams (Sega Saturn) New Age - Mavis Beacon Teaches Typing 12 (PC) In The Clouds - Super Bonk (SNES) Astal OST (Sega Saturn) Starship Titanic OST (PC) (crazy ambience to this one!) Jazz Jackrabbit 2 OST (PC) Birdman - Pilotwings (N64) Keep up with the awesome coverage! ^_^
Pad dude I just like to say that Im happy to see your channel grow as the arc of synthwave, future funk, and vaporwave spread out over the world. You and many others have inspired me so much when it comes to the sounds of the 80's.
My picks for most a e s t h e t i c game tracks: - Crystal Drops, Castlevania: Symphony of the Night (Michiru Yamane) - Phendrana Drifts, Metroid Prime (Kenji Yamamoto) - Time Station, Ape Escape (Soichi Terada) - The Manta Ray PS1 Tech Demo that came on those demo discs.
Great video! The Jolly Roger song from Mario 64 is titled "Dire, Dire Docks" on the official S64 OST. Also I was happy to see some David Wise on this list. Personally I would have chosen "In a Snow-bound Land" from DKC2, but no complaints about your picks either.
These were some really good picks! For me, maybe they don't have vaporwave esthetic per se but man did I love how calming Sirena Beach from Super Mario Sunshine and the background music from Marble Blast Ultra were!
Ok I’ve deleted 2 comments just because it’s so hard for me to choose which game has the most aesthetic song. After awhile, I figured it out. The OST for the Sonic Mega Collection (I think that’s what it’s called) for the PS2 gives me hella nostalgia everytime I hear it. It’s synth ambience brings me back to a time where I used to go to my grandma’s daycare. She had a ps2 upstairs set up just for me with that game. Seriously, the 2 or 3 songs they made just for the menus of that game are high key some of the best music in gaming.
That specific era of Lego, 1996-2000 I would say, has an otherworldly quality to it. Back when its old motto was on every box, "Just Imagine..." and some sets had a blue sky background on the box... I do remember finding the OST of Lego Island beautiful. I'd go to certain areas of the game just to hear the music. I really miss that time of Lego. It's extremely nostalgic for me.
@@PadChennington thats a very hard question to answer considering a lot of games have such nice songs but atm its either the title theme of ocarina of time or som other pokemon theme i forgot the name lol
Finally some lego island rep, I love that game. If I had to to add a song it would probably be Legend of Zelda Oot title theme. The theme itself is so soothing and not something I expected when I first booted up the game, but it's a very welcome addition.
Ape Escape OST by Soichi Terada is the shinning example of proto-Vaporwave. Best by far is Time Station, sad to not see it on the list, but oh well there's still plenty of great OSTs on here. great video btw!
Okay literally none of the games I'm about to mention have aesthetic or vaporwave visuals or music, but the whole Cuphead soundtrack, Spanish Sahara from Life is Strange, the Save Room theme from Resident Evil 0, the whole Mario Kart Wii soundtrack, the X-Naut Fortress music from Paper Mario and the Thousand Year Door, the music box songs from FNaF, the whole Undertale soundtrack, Final Fantasy battle music, the Song of Healing from Majora's Mask, and Gerudo Valley from Ocarina of Time always hit me right in the nostalgia. I'm pretty young so my nostalgia is in different places obviously, but holy heck I love all of these games and their soundtracks
the entire Rush 2 extreme racing USA soundtrack (even though it's more outrun than vaporwave). the music is a perfect representation of an old 90's racing game that wants to hype the player by giving you this feeling that wants to make you go as fast as you can possibly go. plus I loved the maps, they were colorful and used allot of neon lights (especially that map where you can do allot of stunts)
and I think soundtracks from Amiga and Atari ST games could be made into real vaporwave goodness. 16-bit sounds are underrated comparing with 8-bit ones, since we've already have chiptunes nearly all about 8-bit. europeans should have their own nostalgia about these (but I'm Asian xD) anyway, home computers like those are huge back then. and even sounds from Sinclair ZX Spectrum and Amstrad CPC also could be done so.
Great idea for a video and well put together. Cheers. Those underwater levels were very nostalgic. One of the tunes I remember trying to download on soulseek was two many cats from the James Pond II Robocod game.
People hated on it a lot but personally one of my favorite games was Xenosaga II. The background music IS straight up vaporwave. I think that's a big reason why vaporwave resonates so much with me :)
Some strong picks here, definitely. As for some recommendations: First off, the oldest 𝑨 𝑬 𝑺 𝑻 𝑯 𝑬 𝑻 𝑰 𝑪 game track I can think of is Marble Madness - "Practice Race" (the later arranged version for FM Towns is especially good). Mario Paint - "Mysterious" International Track & Field 2000 (PS1) - "Results" (seriously, this one is fantastic) Einhänder - "Earthlight" Art of Balance - "Title Screen" Digimon World - "File City (Night)" Namco Museum Vol. 1 - "Museum" Honestly a lot of tracks from the Japan-only Mario Artist games.
MendelPalace art of balance had a fire ass soundtrack w/o a doubt. i remember making sure to download the demo to it before the wii shop closed just to make sure i wouldn’t forget it lmao
I'm SO happy you have LSD Dream Emulator on this list!!! It's such a classic. You should really check out the rest of Osamu Sato's discography for more vaporwave sounding tracks. He's recently come back from being radio silent and has released some great albums!
PS1 Tomb Raider 1 & 4 main themes are amazing, Earthbound- Sunrise & onett theme, OOT Spirit temple, Devil May Cry 5 - The Crunching Rhythm of Chiba “Rakkasei”, 1080° Snowboarding - lost , Smash bros brawl -Sticker Album and my personal favorite: Metroid Prime - Phendrana drifts. great video as always Pad
The most a e s t h e t i c gaming tune I have ever heard is definitely Distant Scenery, from a little indie game called 2064: Read Only Memories... The synths and the sax on the background makes you feel like on a tropical cruise with that late evening orange sky while the sun is setting... Love that game and that music a lot!
The whole DKC trilogy has the best soundtrack out there, but one that gets overlooked when it comes to a e s t h e t i c is DKC3's Pokey Pipes. It's dark, gritty, and full of atmosphere!
@@PadChennington I even remember having demo 1, I also remember a weird game on one where you walk around in this strange place that looks like inside of a body. I was a 90s kid in the UK.
Turok the Dinosaur Hunter’s underwater Music was also both nostalgic and aesthetic to me. I was never supposed to play it as a kid, but I HAD to play anything with dinosaurs on them and my parents eventually let me rent it from Blockbuster. Never got past the second level, but I still loved it!
This isn’t necessarily aesthetic, but one song that always gets me going is the song towards the end of Professor Layton and the Diabolical Box; I unfortunately can’t remember the title, but it’s the music box song that plays when they finally open the box and begin reading Sophie’s letter. My parents bought the game for me when I was 10 and we were living in Germany, so it brings back a lot of specific memories from that turning point in my life
with me, id say 1. the entire soundtrack for Lego Star Wars: The Complete Saga 2. Coconut Mall 3. Dragon Quest IX soundtrack 4. SNES Rainbow Road 5. Great Fairy Fountain 6. Diddy Kong Racing's Darkmoon Caverns 7. Diddy Kong Racing's Star City 8. Super Mario Galaxy Soundtrack (rather cinematic, and i like that) 9. Walugi Pinball 10. Nintendo Wii Ambient Noise 11. as a brazilian, i find that english words, specially in games, hold the same type of exoticism that americans/europeans have for japanese texts, because even though ive played countless hours of games on PS1/SNES/PS2, I, and nearly everyone that wasnt wealthy enough for english classes did not speak a single word of english, and many games came here as kind of "illegal" goods, since it was absolutely impossible to find original games, so there were absolutely no games in portuguese, only in english and japanese. the wii shop for instance is a song that makes me feel like a child on a foreign frontstore window, not being able to access stores outside my country because of region locking, and having to "hack" it to access and not having an international credit cards to buy anything, or even understanding any of the texts there. youtube and internet changed the game for me :)
I remember on Mario & Sonic at 2008 Beijing Olympics on DS, there was a bonus feature where you could play a jukebox of classic music from both Mario and Sonic games. Pretty sure that jukebox was the beginning of my synthwave/Vaporwave obsession 🥺
This is such a good topic, but now I'm craving for a pink dolphin slushy. The whole Lego soundtrack TBH is top notch, I wish I could get it running on my Mac.
Stickerbrush Symphony in DKC2 is also amazing. Video game music really deserves its due with music nerds cause it had so much inspiration in Vaporwave and Hip-Hop. A few recommendations that I don’t think others have mentioned: -Anodyne 1&2 (and other Analgesic Production games): Definitely some aesthetic driven games to a degree, but just very unique, strange games. The music is a mix of ambient music and slightly more melodic and upbeat songs. Hard to describe, but both lovely soundtracks. -Super Monkey Ball Series has some super nice tunes -Ecco: Defender of the Future (the other ecco games too - like, c’mon, it’s too on the nose) -Spyro 2&3 have some really catchy tunes. -Gimmick/Mr. Gimmick for the NES (absolutely amazing NES soundtrack, with the beach theme especially fitting the bill for vaporwave aesthetics) -Kirby’s Return to Dreamland- Aurora Area -Since Vaporwave artists love weird old games, MOON: Remix RPG Adventure has great music of many genres.
SNES/SFC Racing games had the best soundtracks in 90's. Top Gear 2's entire soundtrack, Kat's Run: Zen Nihon K Car Senshuken's soundtrack, Top Gear Rally 64's coastline, and even Lego Racers to a degree. Man I was kid during the right generation......
If I had to go with only one a e s t h e t i c videogame track it would be "through the trees" or the forest theme in Shantae Risky's Revenge. It has a pretty good sound that will make you feel lost but excited for the adventure that is on your way.
Holy crap man! Roll Away! I haven't played that game in almost 2 decades. That game was addictive and weird and yeah the soundtrack was alot of fun too. Way to be awesome Pad!
I'm so late on watching this video but I'm so glad I watched it now. This was simply said beautiful. Thanks for the video and have a nice rest of your day to whoever reads this. ❤️
Well. I have a lot of favorite games...but, this game in particular is pretty much built on 80's aesthetics and stuff. it's called *_Hotline Miami._* It's a fun challenging surreal top-down shooter with bright and neon color schemes with an intriguing story. Plus the music is awesome too. There's also a second game that is just as good as it's predecessor and....a bit more depressing lmao.
Fun fact:the reason why pit and temple ambient E was titled as ambient was because lsd dream emulator has different soundfonts for a group of patterns This happened to be the ambient varient of the pit and temple E pattern I love your vids pad and id kill to see you do a play through of lsd dream emulator
The Library Theme really don't need no explanation. The song speaks for itself. The entire Forbidden Memories OST is a true masterpiece of videogame soundtracks, imo.
Hey Pad! Man I missed Hat in Time OST on this list, it's a much newer game than all others featured on the video, but they made an specifically vaporwave song for it. There's also the underwater time rift theme which really invoques the same floaty dreamy feeling, I suggest you check it out if you haven't already!
"Temple of Light" from Fable, "Under Cover of Night" from Halo CE, most of the Sonic Mania OST and the Mission Status music (pause music) from Goldeneye 64 are some of my personal highlights
Fzero Maximum velocity - Race Results and Credits music ,also Tekken 4 Beach and Airport stage is one of the gems I knew long way before since my childhood

Unrelated question to the video, does vaporwave have more a 90s aesthetic or 80s aesthetic? I'm having a debate with a friend and I'd want your opinion on it btw, great video man

Banjo Kazooie, when you hit the top of the mountain on the beach world.
The white noise wind whistles.
I woke up with this banger of a video!
Oh god the memories! Nostalgia overload
robby baby.... I was goin back in time while I was making this video lol!
Pad you should check the police station theme from Parasite Eve PS1 game as well!! It is called "Out of Phase". Vibin af!
will check it out! thanks for the recommendation!
The Birdman Stage of Pilotwings 64, man that was one of the most aesthetic songs I remembered from that game.
Literally any music from the n64 and ps1 most of my favorite osts and tracks come from those games from those amazing consoles
The entire Sonic CD soundtrack have too much potential to make vaporwave/future funk songs
Fun fact:the reason why pit and temple ambient E was titled as ambient was because lsd dream emulator has different soundfonts for a group of patterns
This happened to be the ambient varient of the pit and temple E pattern
I love your vids pad and id kill to see you do a play through of lsd dream emulator
The Library Theme really don't need no explanation. The song speaks for itself. The entire Forbidden Memories OST is a true masterpiece of videogame soundtracks, imo.
The madness that is the Evergrace OST
i love how the "aesthetic" on title gets turned into the void font for mobile users
I don't know if this counts beacuse it's a fan game but Titanic Tower Act 2 from Sonic The Hedgehog: Before the Sequel is very aesthetic.
yesss and emerald fields? or whatever it was called
Pad Chennington Yes, Emerald Hill it's a classic :D
Hey Pad! Man I missed Hat in Time OST on this list, it's a much newer game than all others featured on the video, but they made an specifically vaporwave song for it.
There's also the underwater time rift theme which really invoques the same floaty dreamy feeling, I suggest you check it out if you haven't already!
12:16 No Pad, I wanna set sail with you
WE GOTTA GO GET A BROAT
"Temple of Light" from Fable, "Under Cover of Night" from Halo CE, most of the Sonic Mania OST and the Mission Status music (pause music) from Goldeneye 64 are some of my personal highlights
never played fable, is it good???
@@PadChennington Fable 2 is one of my favourite games and I enjoyed my time with the first and third games so it's definitely worth a try.
I was never into Yu-Gi-Oh as a kid, so thank you for demanding that I listen to that awesome track!
Fzero Maximum velocity - Race Results and Credits music ,also Tekken 4 Beach and Airport stage is one of the gems I knew long way before since my childhood
is it weird that I've never played a tekken game before in my life o_0
@@PadChennington man ,youve missed out a part of our childhood .but its not that big deal since i havent played other famous games from my childhood as well lol
Pit and temple ambient E sounds nothing like vaporwave
But the long hallways A is aesthetic AF
Day 7 of asking Pad to do vaporwave meme review
LOL I see u player!! I would love to do something like that, I just need a bunch of people to send me v a p o r w a v e memes!
I actually made on myself ;)

Love that Kula World is in this video, underrated game imo
*COOKING AND POPPING INTENSIFIES*
YES!!! U BETTER BE HUNGRY!!!!!!
@@PadChennington When's that barbeque? I'm ready for some mouthwatering hamburgers.
I know bb one day...maybe George will let me turn up the grill at electronicon
My god that Lego island track brought back so many memories
Unrelated question to the video, does vaporwave have more a 90s aesthetic or 80s aesthetic? I'm having a debate with a friend and I'd want your opinion on it
btw, great video man
Both Severnaya levels from GoldenEye...
starlight zone from sonic 1 would be my pick, always makes me sentimental when i hear it
