      dMore than the most. He's lucky to have lived long after the accident.
      Some liquidators i knew barely had time to find out how great the danger was at the cleanup before they passed away from cancer or plain ray-sickness. The party acted cruel and unconsiderate at the wake of the accident. The censored propaganda machine cost more lives than necessary, as always. The guys doing the job were unsung heroes before the internet. No doubt so was your granddad.
      In reality, for most of them, it could have been an assignment to clean up some oil spill, for all they knew. In general, western media reported roughly what's happened and guessed the consequences of the disaster - way before anyone without top-secret clearance would get to know in USSR. That includes the civilians and ordinary militas doing the cleanup. Government in this case was not worthy of prise or pride. Some do feel the exact opposite, seeing their mates hanging out with party officials at the dawn of Glasnostj. Just the gut-churning politics, nothing personal.

      "With great power comes great responsibility." So let's use nuclear power responsibly, and don't cut corners or take shortcuts where safety is concerned.

    As native russian, it is sad to know that this “award” which called «орден» as symbol of respect to honor of brave heroes (mostly the same medal) are not preserved in families and can be obtained by others. Kyle is probably the best man to have one of this, but symbols of honor should be still preserved by receiver or family. Its like if symbol of the Medal of Honor would be bought by another man.

    • @derekwhidden9730
      @derekwhidden9730 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I am going to respond, hopefully in an effort to explain and put to ease any concerns for what you have posted. Perhaps Kyle can respond and bring forth how he obtained it as well.
      First, it came from a surplus. I sm sure that when these were manufactured they did not know an exact number of medals to produce. They probably estimated holes many people would work on a project of this scope and began production during the liquidation process. As the process neared completion they were able to narrow down the production schedule, but there must come a point in time for the liquidation to end. Since producing too many medals would be preferable to not having enough a few extra were left after the completion of the liquidation. These would have been left in storage somewhere and discovered not long ago.
      The second method would be for a surviving liquidator to pass away and not leaving any heirs. Yes it's true, that such a medal would be an important family heirloom. But with military medals, descendants often find their way into the military as well and there is a familial pride on that heritage. I doubt that exists with liquidators, because descendants will not have that same opportunity to serve their country on that way. But that does not mean that medal is any less important. Still the possibility exists of someone not having heirs to leave them to. I don't know what Russian laws dictates, so I cannot say with certainty what will happen to an heirless persons possessions, if they become seized by the state or just discarded. Hopefully the former before the latter.

    Kyle, I love ya bud. I’ve watched you for years. Since you were with that other channel when you used the clear erase board all the time lol. You are a huge inspiration to me and I’m 35 years old. I always loved science but I’m much more of a people person so I ended up with a career in HR. All that said my son Anthony is autistic. He just turned 12 this August. When you explain the struggles you had I could not wait to show my son the video. I was so excited to show him that he’s capable of being just like you. Happy, passionate, inspired, excited and successful. He hasn’t stopped watching you since and he is going through your entire catalog asking me if I seen this Kyle video or that one. It puts the biggest smile on my face knowing that I introduced him to something/someone he loves that inspires him because he was getting so much hate at school because he’s different. It’s rare someone can equally inspire both parents and child. Genuinely. Other than false idols in sports I can’t name many others that transcend the child to grown up lense like that. Sorry for the the novel man and I truly hope you read this if for nothing else but to know you’ve made a huge positive impact on my family. And I love you for that faux Thor 😂. By the way no need to explain yourself bud. You’ve brought so many smiles and lessons over the past decade it’s about time you do what you WANT to do not what you think you NEED to do. You’re going to be great and we will all be here for you regardless. I got too much love for ya homie! Be safe and please make sure there’s no holes in your anti radiation suit! Take care bud.
