    I’m glad I found this gem! I have a BS in Psyc and worked as a behavior tech before resigning to begin nursing school, yet I’ve grow real curious on consulting! Are you aware of any areas of healthcare consulting that might be suitable for me? I appreciate any feedback!

      Hi Joe, glad to hear you are interested! Healthcare consulting is quite broad. As long as you have background in healthcare (which you do), you can work in any fields as long as you are interested and prepared!

    What advice do you have for someone that doesn’t have a background in healthcare?
    10+ years in government (management & operations), will begin an MBA program this fall. Looking to get my foot in the door now.

      You can also try general management consulting if that interests you. Regarding healthcare, try some internships and volunteer work that are related to healthcare (biotech, hospital etc.). During your MBA, continue networking and trying to accumulate more healthcare experience. Good luck!

    Hi, I'm currently a clinical pharmacist for UCLA health and another hospital. I have a friend that's a pharmacist that just got into consulting. Do you mind sharing a little bit about career advancement opportunities? Also, the pay and benefits package if you don't mind? I personally haven't had to use a PowerPoint or excel sheet in 9 years haha do you have to be an expert in those softwares? Thank you in advance!

      Hey! Thanks for the questions! The typical career trajectory in consulting is “consultant”-“engagement manager”-“assistant partner”-“partner”. In different firms the titles can be different but it’s the same idea. Total package varies depends on the company and the level-great topic and I will have a future video talking about this! For Microsoft office, it’s better to know basics and if u enter consulting at more junior levels, then you need to know how to make slides and navigate excel. Those are all great questions and I will def address these in future videos!

      @@dr.catslab Thank you so much!!! My current plan is to apply to a consulting firm in about 3-4 months. My brother thinks I'm dumb since I know I will probably be taking a pay cut going into a different field. But the pay isn't everything, especially if the career advancement is good. I look forward to your new video! Oh, in your new video, could you also answer if you need an MBA for better career advancement? Thank you!

    • @dr.catslab
      @dr.catslab  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi! If you have experience in sales, I’m sure you have great skills in communication and client management. Consulting will require all that plus strategic thinking and industry knowledge in healthcare. If you go to job description, you will find detailed descriptions on the requirements. Good luck!

    Hey Dr I would like to ask what are the suitable firms for pharmaceutical consulting? Thanks in advance

    • @dr.catslab
      @dr.catslab  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      You can find a list in Vault ranking for boutique consulting and look only the healthcare focused ones. Unfortunately there is no exhaustive list anywhere. You have to do your own diligence on which firm suits your interest.
