    it's funny how many people will say I'll get it and put new pickups in, which will then be .05 percent difference, and that could've been matched with a simple EQ tweak on the amp or EQ pedal. Sounds great!!!!

    • @MrSpeed-lt8gr
      @MrSpeed-lt8gr 4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      So true, sir. A pickup is a magnet and copper wire. Not really rocket science. EQ makes such a huge difference. I was struggling with getting a good heavy tone. I just turned the mid knob down from about 1:00 to 10:00. Got real heavy.

    Now I'm only waiting for Harley Benton to up their Flying V game to this level too

    • @freezingCode
      @freezingCode 4 ปีที่แล้ว +8

      Yeah, the current HB Flying V's on Thomann look pretty bad. I don't particularly care for the staggered design on the inside of the V body, but worse is the headstock shape (imo).

    • @adamstefandukes367
      @adamstefandukes367 4 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      @@freezingCode Yeah, that headstock shape is something that made me not buy the black-gold one during my v-style-loving-period. But if they do a natural finish V with Roswell LAFs (and at least a decent looking headstock) it would sell like crazy, I would probably end up buying it too

    • @MrSpeed-lt8gr
      @MrSpeed-lt8gr 4 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Yes I’m hoping this too. I don’t mind the all black one. But I would like a redesign like they did with the EX. The more traditional V headstock would make it really nice.

    They're quite a bit pricier than the ones they offered in the past, but they're spec'd out so much better, and still priced better than other mid-range brands with a lot less to offer!

  • @charlesharper7292

    I am building one of these now. I'm starting with a POS Hondo body. All the other Hondo stuff is going in the fire pit! It's getting one of those KLOS carbon fiber necks. And probably a relief cut where your right forearm contacts the body just to be different.😁

  • @syntheticsleep
    @syntheticsleep 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    I got the black/gold version. It's absolutely killer. Looks like a million bucks and plays like a dream. The pickups are...ok. I'll be popping something else in eventually. But even if I paid as much for a set as I did for the guitar (which I won't), it would still be an absolute steal of a deal.

    Hello Henning, I checked this video out a few weeks back. I liked what I saw. I ordered the Left Handed Ex-76 Classic and got it a month later. First thing that caught my eye was No Locking Tuners. I let them know it right away. They said that the EX-76 Classic does not come with locking tuners. I was told that they were changing all the pictures on the site and I checked it out sure enough that did, but the left hand EX-76 Classic Lefty still shows Locking Grover locking tuners. Any way they told me I can send it back (NOT!!!) OR they can give me a partial refund. So I told them to just send me locking tuners like the #519040 if they would fit the guitar. It would be nice to get The Grover locking tuners for it but I told them I would be happy to have the no name ones sent and I would do the install my self no problem. I'm still waiting on a response from Tommen. Now is this a little crazy or what? Do you think they will be able to pull all the videos put out with the Grover Locking tuners shown or talked about? I felt like I should let you know. I feel like I know you from the work you have done with my friend CGS Mike. I would like to know what you think 🤔 about this. If you think it's safe to do so. Either way they're not getting that guitar back I still love it no matter. I just hope they give me enough money to buy locking tuners. Thank you for all your great Videos and playing skills. Till next time....

    "get the 78"
    I have too many guitars.
    "get the 78"
    No, go away, I need to sell a few guitars anyway.

    You're not gonna catch me this time, frivolous spending thoughts! *runs away in panic*

      I sadly know exactly what you mean. Remember you simply have a passion for guitars NOT a mental condition .

    Love the songs that you lay at these reviews.... This one and that one in those hagstroms reviews were really cool. Are the your own songs?

    Actives sound good clean, more single coil like, more hifi, but usually not so good with gain, too fizzy! (EMG's anyway) These Roswell actives actually sound GOOD with gain on them! (To MY ears anyway! Better, more crunchy than fizzy like EMG's!)

      Good to know Yes I tried EMGs 30 years ago and didn't like them Thought the same thing Never tried active again Thanks

      @@paulcowart3174 I don't blame you! But they AREN'T all equal! Even Guitar Fetish have their own line of actives called Redactives, & they sound almost LIKE passives, but with more grunt. They really are quite good!
      IF I had to use actives, I'd use actives for clean guitar sounds, and passives for crunchy sounds!

      I am actively passive in agreement with you, as I enjoy my fizzy soda and crunchy crisps.

    I may have missed it, but is the Classic that you have in the video a prototype? It looks like an ebony board, but the website has it listed as Amaranth, and looks very light in color on the Thomann photo. The Modern is listed as having Ebony board on the Thomann site, and looks darker in their photo as it should. [You very clearly called out the fretboard wood difference from the spec sheet; I just rewatched. Still curious if the one you have actually has that wood on it though if the stock photos are anything to judge by.]

    Love ya Henning! Wouldn't you happen to know if HB is updating their line of instruments? I was eyeing up a bass a few days ago and it disappeared. I was just wondering, stay safe and keep up the wonderful content!

    Pete Willis, I know there were plenty of other players, but watching Pete on MTV sealed my fate. Get Your Wings.
