This is sooooo helpful. I am a mom who has been fustrated trying to help my child understand how to write a paragraph. This was well organized and structural. Thank you
I really like how specific you make your word wall for each type of paragraph since it helps students remember elements to include in their writing and can help speed up their process in identifying/highlighting the correct examples from their reading to cite instead of highlighting everything. I love checklists so I appreciate you modeling yours. Grateful!
Amazing! Working with your child is going to help them sooo much! Thank you for being a supportive and hardworking parent. I appreciate your effort!! And I am so grateful this helped you and your child! I LOVE WRITING
This is fantastic!!! Do you have examples of a finished flow map to see? I'd love a couple examples to read over before I begin teaching my fifth grader. Thank you!!!

I have purchased this and LOVE it! Is it possible for you to somehow update example essays for each type? It would be so helpful for me to see a good student sample to see if I'm teaching correctly.
Wow. You have explained this so well. I intend to purchase this for my class. I do have a couple of questions as I am very green to teaching (I have a 4/5 split class). To differentiate this for my low grade 4 and 5s, what would you suggest? Decreasing number of paragraphs? Just a single paragraph? Also, how long chunks of time do you find you are taking for the lessons? This has been so valuable to me. Thank you.
Hello! I differentiate by pulling for small group, using sentence stems for the transitional phrases, allow students to copy me or if they feel like they can handle it, filling in their own. I also do a lot of partner work! I usually spend 45-55 min on each chunk of the writing lesson :)

Hi . I am a mom and my son is struggling with essay and not far from the state test. Can you please make a video working on an essay from intro to conclusion like if you are in class? You video helped me.a lot. Thanks
This is write on time. Lol. I made myself laugh. But seriously just found out that I am the social studies and writing teacher and I am so lost. I have always just taught reading and grammar so here we are.
I’m really scared for all of my FSA tests because I’m in online school in the 5th grade and I’ve been really stressed about it too. My writing FSA is on April 20th and I keep thinking about it. Last year when I was in 4th I learned about writing but COVID started right before my writing FSA and I also forgot some things my teacher taught me. That’s why I do a lot of research about writing tips and things like that. Sorry it was so long if you read this.
Don’t be nervous about the test! The fact that you take initiative to research on your own is amazing! You are not defined by a test, especially when the world was very unsteady. Try your best and I promise you, you will learn everything you need to learn all in due time 💕
@@HighVibeTeaching I am struggling to get my kids to put the statement together. What we did seemed too long and almost very repetitive throughout the essay.
@@HighVibeTeaching Wow! Idid not expect a response. You aren't even teaching anymore. Thanks. I started looking online andI think I found something that will work. I'm going to try your system this year and I'm really nervous. Thank you for responding.
@@HighVibeTeaching You are so sweet to still follow up on your products like this. Yesterday I looked for something on Teddy Roosevelt and thought I'd try to follow your instructions like I was a student. I think I just didn't find a very appropriate source article. I'm going to try again today using one of your source articles. Also, I'm going to start out with the 3rd grade level. My 5th graders aren't good writers to begin with. I'll start with the paragraph and then move up to the essay. The only specific question I have is how to do the formative assessment. They will have circled one detail in red for a formative assessment. It seems like more of a pass/fail thing to me. You're adorable and so bright and energetic. Your district lost a good teacher. Such a shame.

I love the organization of this! I'm curious, how do you have your kids quote once they start publishing. Do you look for "In _____, pg. __, Paragraph ___, it states "_____" or is it a more simple than that?
So in the beginning of the year, when we discuss R.A.C.E we create a poster/ anchor chart about transitional phrases we can use to Cite information. Then when we move to that section of our writing, it goes really smoothly because we have been practicing how to cite :) We make an entire chart of different transitional phrases the students can choose for that section of the writing :)
Yes! Number the paragraph 1st. The tell students that we will be going through each sentence of the paragraph asking ourselves: "Is this an important detail about the main idea?" If yes, then write down on circle map and label the paragraph :) Just to get in that habit.
Ask & answer the who what where when which why how questions which should show tell describe explain teach us about any person place thing idea event situation story.
I would make extra time for my students to get all the body paragraphs done in one day. The writing may take 60 min lesson instead of a typical 30-45 min lesson :) I would sometimes put the red and orange paragraph a days into a lesson as well! Then the next day focus on green and blue!
It's good to know that even 5th graders aren't expected to write all 5 paragraphs in one day. I have my 2nd grader writing 3 to 5 sentences a day toward a single paragraph. And I was thinking by 5th grade on assessments or state writing tests, they might have to practice all year writing more in one sitting, but I guess not? 😅 So when they do have a standardized or quarterly writing assessments, do they just require a quick write that only requires a paragraph or so to answer the prompt...or do they in fact have to he able to wip out a whole 5 paragraph essay in one test by the end of the year? And what about third graders end of year writing test expectations? Thanks!
I learned more here than my whole 4 years in college
Yup SAME!!! I learned the most about teaching from TH-cam.. not actual college lol lol lol

It can be anywhere and as much dialogue as desired! But it HAS to be somewhere in each body paragraph :)
