I’ve been fishing for about a year now and haven’t caught a single fish on a lure yet, went to the skyway with the gotcha, caught all the fish I could, thank you!!
Hey Josh.. Great video.. You and I have had this conversation before about learning how to fish the Skyway Pier.. Didn't even realize people fished artificial lures.. I would love to see a video on your third choice.. Thanks for sharing and helping those of us still learning fishing different places.. Thanks again and always your friend, fan, and subscriber..
Hey Josh, your BEST catch I have seen (at least for This video) 5:02 ~ Yeah, thats it. Is that what is out of place in this video? You got away from that Buddy!! I would definitely like to see you rig up your third option but I also would like to see you fish a little more too with your choices. I understand the family too so all in all, it's good! God Bless My Friend!
This video was done just in time for me! The 15th of next month I'll be going there for the first time with a friend with a boat. We'll be using live bait for most of the time, but I always like trying my luck with lures
Love your video - great presentation and instructional in a easy understandable manner. Show us how to rig the trolling sinker/spoon. How about a "give away" of a day fishing with you on the Skyway?
On the spoon, 30 yards is a little long to cast underhanded on the bridge .normally with the trolling sinker wound up to the tip with small taper on leading edge ( because the large end first looks to much like bait and you get cut offs ) you should use 20 lb Florocarbon or Vanish floro to keep them from seeing it . run line down to the handle of the rod and back to the tip . then tie on spoon .10 foot or better will work fine . and it will store on your rod better . also the white crappie jig 1/8 tied at the two ends of 3 foot of vanish 20lb line , then a loop knot tied with the two jigs staggard just a inch away from even . then tie the loop to your rod line . you can make the jigs look like glass fish walking the zig zag . I miss Paul Bristow and giving him my information of the day .
I was on the North side of the skyway pier fishing all day from 7:00 a.m. till 2 o'clock in the morning And I didn't catch anything but some bait fish. The bigger fish we were catching were getting taken off by dolphins. My question is, is the South side of the pier better for fishing then the North side?
Three great lures for fishing the pier and fast moving water, it would be kinda fun to see videos with say the lure of the week maybe get sponsored by lure companies rods, reels lines , to test their lures at the pier ? What ya think ? 🤔👈🏻. Tight lines and good times 👍🏼
Is there a preferred knot you use for gotchas to avoid tangles? My last trip to the skyway using gotchas, the leader tangled onto the treble hooks about 4 times out of 5 casts; I spent more time untangling than fishing. Thanks for any tips!
Thanks for the video. My wife and I go every weekend, but usually just going after baitfish. I did buy a bigger rod/reel and am gonna try a gotchya this weekend. What size do you recommend for the skyway?
Here is the video featuring the spoon setup, be sure to give a like and share: th-cam.com/video/ClppFFm6U8Y/w-d-xo.html

@@Saltyscales any advice when to throw gold or silver gotcha lure and yellow or pink, head?

First! Love the videos.
I like your TH-cam video, you the best.👍👍👍
I have that same rod but paired with a Stella FJ3000. Great small fish rod, not so much 20 lb + fish.
Bro thank you! Super informative and fun video to watch. This is Al Lasad bro. And yes why do u use a trolling sinker on a pier? :)
Hello can you show the ringing pro

What’s the recommended length for leader when using a spoon? Many thanks
Six to eight foot is ideal.
I'll be there from the 18th thru the 21st. Can ya tell me where to park?
On the pier, next to where you fish.
