‘Miss Milligan’s Strathspey’ was danced at a ball held in the College School hall, Palmerston North, New Zealand on November 4, 2023.
The ball celebrated the centenary of the RSCDS and involved the three lower North Island regions of the New Zealand Branch.
Music was by the Balmoral Band: Anne-Marie Forsyth, Sharlene Penman and Iain McKenzie.
Thanks to Loralee Hyde who took the photo of the band which features in this video.
Miss Jean Milligan is the most famous name in the RSCDS. She was one of the two co-founders of the Society in 1923, and was the central force promoting Scottish country dancing worldwide. She made a three-week visit to New Zealand in 1974.
‘Miss Milligan’s Strathspey’ was devised by an RSCDS committee.
The video starts from the second time through.
