    So the actual slot is parallel with the peg head and not a straight slot?

      Correct. That provides a clean leading edge for the string to exit the nut which prevents nut buzzing from having a slot that is parallel with the fingerboard.

      Richie Dotson thank you for the reply, I have a 60’s Gibson RB 250 Mastertone, I’m wanting to get it set up and a bone nut. Probably needs some fret dressing also. I’ll contact you after Christmas. I’ll probably put a new bridge on it also! Thanks!!
