@@luzindaausi9412 Schools are just a Business, but why would anyone use children just for profit. The children have not even gone to the moon! The ministry of education has failed to regulate the school fees, infact they have never tried to regulate the school fees.

@kimloveshappiness there are dues paid in all those schools. It is very stressful to educate a child in Uganda and many other countries that have the free education system. Nothing is free
This is very true, i am a ugandan living in wakiso but school fees in Wakiso schools are so high which i cant manage, my work is a boda boda rider i earn less plz the government should do something to help us, we pay alot For our s children to stay in school
I understand your frustration. But this article which I full of lies I not the answer. Which schools do you know in Uganda that pay 700 dollars or over 2 million shillings every term? And when you get an accident on a boda, how much do they charge you in the hospital? Don't it go beyond 1 million shillings?
@@onyangopaul1320there are schools paying more than 2m in Uganda. I am Ugandan and a parent so I know they are there. But if course there are cheaper schools and "free education schools" for both primary & secondary but if you have kids in these schools you know it isn't free. Parents pay and secondary is very expensive. There are no lies in this report. It is all facts.
The problem in Uganda is poor governance. The government doesn't reason up with the citizens. As a parent, education in Uganda is like a scam project. I am now trying to learn certain skills online so that I can teach my children inorder for them to make money without going through the traditional education. 😢
In Uganda there is free education from primary to secondary school.those that perform well in their A level qualify for government scholarship. The issue here parents dont want to pay for school feeding and buying scholastic materials for their children.
As a diaspora we really need to reimagine education. Black education, especially around history and philosophy need to be retold through a black lens across the planet so we're on the same page. Science needs to be rooted in self sustaining agriculture and medicine. Graduates of black education should be able to feed themselves and keep themselves healthy. All schools should also be farms/clinics so our kids have direct access to professionals throughout their education.
As an Ugandan there are levels in school fees structures, schools pay as low as $30 to as much as $1,500 per term. And we parents choose where we can afford to educate our kids from. Personally my son pays $310 per term.
In Tanzania, government schools from primary to secondary education, no fees are paid. If someone go university he(she gets loan from government. Thanks to ou Tz r leaders
The conclusion that drop out rates are primarily driven by high fees rates is ridiculous. It's the shortage of jobs that discourages parents and students from pursuing formal education. How could you miss that if you actually did your research?!
That is very sad to hear, i never had any issues going to school in uganda, neither did all my brothers and sisters. I hope they sort it out . Even with computers chidren still need to be in school to grow and learn social skills.
The skyrocketing school fees in Uganda are a grim reminder of the barriers to education many children face. Education is a fundamental right and a cornerstone for development, yet the rising costs are forcing countless children to drop out, perpetuating cycles of poverty and inequality. Families already grappling with economic hardships cannot afford the ever-increasing fees, leaving children without access to the opportunities education provides. This issue disproportionately affects rural areas, where resources are scarce, and the future prospects of young people are bleak without education. The government must prioritize affordable education by increasing funding for public schools, regulating fees, and offering scholarships or subsidies for vulnerable families. Non-governmental organizations and international partners should also step in to support these efforts. Every child deserves a chance to learn and thrive. Addressing this crisis is not just an investment in Uganda's youth but in the nation’s future as a whole...
FYI: Ugandan government schools are officially tuition-free. However, many schools impose high fees under the guise of covering meals and other expenses. This practice is driven by school administrators, highlighting a deeper issue rooted in systemic flaws.
Honestly speaking, this is why am here..I could crush chemistry like a witch, physics, maths, generally sciences with a dream of being a doctor.. today am an accountant. Money became a problem 😢
In uganda there are both private and government schools. Government aided schools education is free from primary to secondary, parents are supposed to provide meals and scholastic materials of which some parents are reluctant. At tertiary there is government sponsorship at university and colleges for those who have acquired good grades. If your child is lucky and intelligent can start primary, secondary and finish university without paying school fees. But as a norm private schools perform better than government schools bcoz of facilitation and negligence of government teachers who in most cases own the private schools. There is lack of supervision in these govt schools and therefore parents tend to take their chikdren to private schools
I think compared to other countries, schools in Uganda are very cheap. The problem is that the income level of most Ugandans is very low, thus making school fees unaffordable. Most government schools are almost free, but the quality of education in these schools is very poor. The solution thus would be in enhancing the quality of education in government schools so that people with lower incomes have a worthy alternative. However with high levels of corruption in the current government, I don't think enhancing the quality of public schools is an achievable feat for them.
But the problem is not for the schools but the rising COL and inflation which have rendered the monthly salaries ineffective in solving parents financial problems. More so parents choose to take children to prestigious schools which are way beyond their reach all in the name of fitting in society. And lastly the government has played a great role in educating the children. In Uganda you can literally go to school from kindergarten to College for free in these government school programs (Bona basome)
So sad that African governments are less concerned about their citizens who pay all types of taxes and levies to the government and end up with no help from same government in providing basic amenities and education to the ordinary people.😢😢😢
The fact remains what Ugandan teaching doesn't match with evolving world, it's where one employed in particular Field but require more time to get basic skills in his field of education
There is free rducation for primary and secondary schools, however government has not supervised the teacherd from.those schools as they tend to have private owned schools therefore neglect the students in government aided school. Therefore government schools tend not to perform well, for this reason parents prefer taking their kids to private schools. But school fees is high
It's shocking to see how much incorrect information is uploaded on Utube! 700 Dollars - I assume you meant United States Dollars - is the school fees paid in the most expensive local schools, which are fewer than 10 in the whole country. Those that pay higher are international schools. Examples of high end local schools are King's College Budo, Mt Saint Mary's Namagunga, Saint Mary's College Kisubi, Gayaza Girls, etc. The next tier are middle income schools which charge fees ranging from 300 - 500 dollars. The bulk of schools pay below 300 dollars. The school you show in the video - which is Buganda Road Primary School where I attended my primary school - is government funded, and parents pay less than 100 dollars per term! And medical costs are far higher than school fees! Dont even start the discussion of the health care system because, judging from how poorly researched this schools article is, you won't even scratch the surface.
My worst worry is why do you always report negative news about Africa.as a Ugandan most of schools fees ranges from 50 to 100 dollars and those are private schools when coming to government schools it’s free only need to pay a few requirements.and remind you 700dollar schools are for the rich
Dont distort the truth. Uganda has two different schools. Government schools and private schools. Government schools are affordable, but private schools are expensive. Parents chose private schools.
