- Everyone loves the look of gold nuggets. So let's make some way to show them off. Let's make some gold nugget pendants. My son Evan wants to learn how to solder gold to make gold nugget pendants, so we took a trip to Lake Land Creations where my buddy Tommy makes beautiful gold nugget Jewelry of all sorts. He has agreed to teach Evan how to gold solder so he can make his own gold nugget pendants.

11:25 You're right Dan. You can also see in the closeup of the nugget you showed earlier that the seam is in the 9 o'clock position. That isn't what is supposed to be done. I've made hundreds of pendants like this and of other types and there are a few things happening here that would have landed me in hot water during my apprenticeship had I done them.

Interesting enough, I just finally watched the other video from that shop yesterday. Its good to see a young man who knows what he wants and how to get it, but the rest goes into his college fund.
I am surprised that Canada doesn't have a less expensive college system. Using our system probably isn't the best solution. Before college let him have a couple of years to work. He might find that more fulfilling, but he has to give both a chance.

Technically the ultrasonic is generating small implosions throughout the liquid and essentially blowing the dirt off the surfaces. It can do nasty things to metal foils as well, so really thin jewelry might have issues.

Wow! Not only having to learn new skills, but having a camera on at the same time!! Young man deserves a new computer, since he wants to work for it and not just get it handed to him! My little cousins get their money on a 50%, goes to college saving, 30% saving for a big purchase, 20% saving for every day spending. Every cent they get, or earn is distributed like this. Seems to work well

Hey dan, don't use sand paper, sanding sticks work much better. Also I use A soldering paste that comes out of a syringe. It has the flux and powder solder all mixed up together. I've found that its better for beginners and you use just as much as you need and practice, practice, practice. That's definitely necessary for good soldering.

I was a mean dad. I brought my son home a box of computer parts, and a tool set. Made him build it himself. He could hot rod it as he earned the money to do so. Make a nerd out of him Dan.
