I'm a retired CP engineer. The mirrors are on the engineer side, and the engineer can look at his mirror and view the step on his side, so he can make sure the guy is safe and see any hand signals he might give. That's why that second mirror is only on the engineer's side.
FYI, out of the 110 original SD70ACU's NS built, they still roster 45 of them, with 11 of those being currently stored. NS uses ACU's in helper service west of Altoona, PA around Horseshoe Curve.
5:24 : That bracket on the right side of the nose is to hold blue flags from the railroad to indicate that the locomotive is being worked on and means the locomotive is temporarily out of service. It's mostly a safety measure.
I'm doing some custom work on a friend's new Athearn Genesis HO locos. I'm really impressed with the quality and detail of their products. Being an N scaler I only have Kato & Atlas locos, so don't get a lot of time with Athearn power.
Canadian Pacific And Norfolk Southern Are The 2 Railroads That Have The SD70ACU And Glad The Roof Is Removable To See The Cab And What If We Had Some Driver Models
@@terrellfamily1777 You're Welcome, I Initially Wanted CN To Have Gotten KCS, Partially Because CN Used To Called Themselves "North America's Railroad," And They'd Truly Be That With KCS. Then I Kind Of Had Second Thoughts About It And Kind Of Prefer That Neither Had Gotten KCS. First If CN Had Gotten KCS, Every Other Class I (Even BNSF And Union Pacific) Would've Complained, In Fact Even CP As It Is Already Has Some Of Them Scratching Their Heads. Finally, Another Reason I'm Ehh About It Is Because CN Tried To Steal KCS From CP Last Year When CP Made Their Bid For Them.
I believe SD70ACUs are rebuilt versions of SD90MACs, which is why they have a lot of similarities. Canadian Pacific is 1 of 2 operators of the SD70ACU, along with Norfolk Southern.
Great video! Nice engine! I have an emd sd70ace version in the spirit of the union Pacific paint scheme, now I wanna get one of these, i love the red they used
I've got the Genesis SD60M Triclops. Like yours, the detail is amazing but I'm a little surprised it doesn't have an engineer/driver. My next purchase is that Kato track to use on carpet
I think it’s about time you need more track, the fact you combined all your cars together with such little room left to spare, just shows you need more track!!! But I’d say you need to review a steam engine engine next tho, maybe one of the Union Pacific steam engines
Suggestion: have the NS and CSX lead a mixed freight the bnsf at the bank, and UP and CP lead a intermodal freight ( with a bigger track layout of course, and more railcars.)
You should get the Norfolk Southern Version of the ACU! But there are some NS ACUs still alive, several 7300 series units and others but I’m still getting photos of them
Hello friend crafty foxe hey where can i buy those athearn génesis locomotives and their athearn génesis wagons , i m from México and they hardly sell any of that 😞
@CraftyFoxe Great Video Of An HO CP SD70ACU. Speaking Of CP, What Do You Think About The Upcoming CP-KCS Merger, Yay Or Nay, Or Would You Rather KCS Had Gone With CN?
I like the red colour of the train 😅
Me too
Super nice model! Finally, a locomotive with already-installed front & back ditch lights...

Sensational my friend, beautiful acquisition, in my opinion this is the most beautiful locomotive in your collection.
first canadian locomotive and really cool that whole train car's are hook up together!
Sharp looking Canada Pacific locomotive I like it
The feeling when you pull the plastic sheet off the top of the locomotive is like no other
Awesome unboxing! I recommend you get the BC Rail C44-9WL by Athearn. It’s a really detailed and amazing locomotive to have!
The train looks great bro!
I have wanted this locomotive my self along with the gevos
That is one extremely stunning unit. Love the new era PTC on top of the cab.

looks great! the red livery on the SD70ACU fits best. Cheers!
Idea: get a engineer and conductor figure in HO and put them in the cab for extra detail
Wow really nice locomotive.
I didn’t see this one coming! Next you should either get a CN locomotive, CSX Pride In Service locomotive, or a steam engine of sorts!
If I could choose I would pick CN
@@HOProductions1 same here although I really wanna see all three CSX engines unboxed in one video
That would be cool as well.

How ironic is it that it’s his first Canadian Locomotive and today is Victoria day for us Canadians.
Coincidence, I think not!
Canadian Pacific And Norfolk Southern Are The 2 Railroads That Have The SD70ACU And Glad The Roof Is Removable To See The Cab And What If We Had Some Driver Models

AWVR the runway well. I sine that
Next you need to get a Kansas City Southern locomotive to go with the Canadian Pacific one
@Terrell Family About That, What Do You Think About The Upcoming CP-KCS Merger, Yay Or Nay, Or Would You Rather KCS Had Gone With CN?
@@calebtrains2261 I don’t know. It’s a hard choice, I’m glad that CP won the fight over KCS because I live near more CP to CN. Thanks for asking!

No it's CP's SD9043MAC series that they took out of retirement a cupple years ago and progress rail rebuilt them into sd70acus
@@railfan_brady Most were sold from UP.
@@railfan_brady I always get those mixed up :/

That's super cool man. Love ACe's, but that looks good!
The reason it has the MU Cable stand is because it's a former CP SD9043MAC that was rebuilt at progress rail in 2018-2019 era
Crafty Fox I just learned how to build a traffic light because in my dream I got something that call call

I think you should get SD80MAC (one of my favorites)
The next thing you need is a turn table to turn trains or a southern pacific dash 9 or cn dash 9 or gevo

There's going to be alot coming to Athearn's Genesis line in N scale, stay tuned.

@CraftyFoxe the DRF-43 thats means how much horsepower the Locomotive has
Heard loksound perfectly fits in with sound features, tsunami 2 isn’t as bad but preferably loksound nails the job
He's trying to stay on DC power it seems.
Enjoyed the video thanks very much and like DD.
I have a Union Pacific sd70ah By the way great video👍🏻
Suggestion: have the NS and CSX lead a mixed freight the bnsf at the bank, and UP and CP lead a intermodal freight ( with a bigger track layout of course, and more railcars.)
Should defitlently do shunting with that engine 😂
I like the locomotive 👍👍

Noice.
DRF is for Diesel road freight. Not sure what the 43 is tho... something with the axles
You should get the Norfolk Southern Version of the ACU! But there are some NS ACUs still alive, several 7300 series units and others but I’m still getting photos of them
