Good video, but… While it looks all fresh and glitzy to start being a current driver in greater Manchester I will tell you for free the only thing that will change is the fact all the transport system will become the same colour. All well having low bus fares for now but they won’t last forever, the same types of people will still catch buses meaning the fare dodgers, smokers and etc… traffic still exists so these shiny new buses will still be late, also coupled with the fact there being a severe driver shortage that agency drivers have been drafted in from around the country, so expect them to make mistakes and get lost.…. Also with the modern fleet being electric you will hardly see them as when they get to 30% charge they have to go back to the depot to be recharged lol. That’s just a few points to make it balanced, not knocking the video but to make it like everything will suddenly get better is simply not true.
Some things did "suddenly get better". Look at this: www.msn.com/en-gb/news/newsmanchester/one-in-four-bee-network-buses-were-late-last-week-and-that-s-an-improvement/ar-BB1kpupE?ocid=msedgntp&pc=U531&cvid=eff49059403041069083d6089484ed59&ei=9
@@tramographyMCR how long has it taken… I commented 5 months ago.. also I don’t believe that for a second… I’m actually a bus driver in Manchester and still people come on to tell me there have been buses missing over 40 mins late… you can believe what you want but I work on the front line 6 days a week.
@@leonwilliams3221 Surely you can at least admit it's gotten better. Although 50% to 75% isn't a very noticeable difference when it comes to the interesting "one-minute early, five minutes late" standard of punctuality that TfGM uses
Major Pedant Note: Technically the Bee network is a Bus Franchise service under the Bus Services Act 2017 and the busses themselves are still run and operated by the private companies such as Stagecoach and Diamon This is *NOT* the same as bringing the bus services back into Public Ownership or re regulation. One of the few places in the UK where StageCoach etc never got through the door when bus services were deregulated as part of the Transport act(1985) in 1986 is Cardiff where Cardiff Bus is a private company still 100% owned by the city council to this day (although in fairness there were some bus wars back in the day with other bus operators)
I think the “first city outside of London for 30 years” is hinting at this, but for anyone else watching this: that city which re-regulated buses soon after the privatisation act was Edinburgh. Which is also how the Edinburgh tram got built, in contrast to private (First Group ran) Glasgow buses negotiating-down plans to turn major lines into trams for the Commonwealth Games a decade ago. First they negotiated down to building a “bus rapid transit” or “bus-tram” scheme, but it eventuated as a normal bus which can turn red lights green to stay on time. Though there’s a new proposal to re-tram some routes as part of a longer-term “Clyde Metro” plan. But to wait until after Manchester did it, instead of following Edinburgh’s lead, is a wee bit late IMHO. It seems Manchester started laying the groundwork for this a good while ago.
Buses outside London and Manchester are kinda regulated because they fix their prices to £2*. This is a temporary scheme until 31/10/23 (from 01/01 to initially 31/03 then 31/06) and after that, it's now unregulated. I think that with London, buses are run by companies (Arriva, Stagecoach, RATP) on behalf of TFL so the same can be said for TFGM. I( don't know how to phrase this .) *does not apply for some companies, namely long distance Excel buses Norwich to Kings Lynn and Peterborough, as well as sightseeing
@@tramographyMCR The temporary scheme of setting the bus fares at £2 is across the UK but does not apply to London and Manchester (read the first two sentence). Manchester does sets it's bus fares to £2, but is not part of the national scheme.
Google maps shows you the route of which the buses take from specific bus stops. It also shows you the times that they arrive to pick you up. Click on the bus stop then click on the bus you want to take. I never knew you could do this and as a result rarely use the bus.
i was the man that came up with the colour change idea with gmtransport sick of london busses standing out and manchester having nothing also called them buzzes' they sent me letter thanking me for my input for which i am proud mancladalso asked if they were going electric which they said yes i think next we should get taxis yellow as well in germany all taxis have to be white lets get the pride back into manchester
If it's white in Germany, it's a very dirty place!!!! Fact is, taxis HAVEN'T had to be the same colour since 2005 but by consensus they are all painted a light beige (eifelbein to be exact).
Don't matter what you call any bus company or network as you put it. Will it stop contuniesing sticks and, more importantly, will buses in greater Manchester run on time, findly will all network drivers have proper customer service training because some drivers' attitude is shockingly poor and very unhelpful. I suffer from anxiety and depression and sometimes I need more explanation in more to me as I don't understand when the driver specks quickly to me. I guess time will tell let's hope in 2024 and beyond will be much better bus service in greater Manchester 🇬🇧 I am in hope and again I guess in time we'll all find out if the bus network in greater Manchester will be improved.

What do you mean by temporary scheme? Isn't the Bee Network permanent? r do you mean the bus fares?
