Guillermo
It is a woodpecker but behaves like an anteater, it attacks the anteaters by inserting its long tongue to capture the ants, it lives only in Spain, it is seen that it prefers to do this rather than break the hard wood.
Hello Guillermo,woww....very beautiful to see this juvenile and a wonderful close capture!! Also very nice to see the feeding of the parent in the beginning!!! Greetings Gijs
Thank you very much Gijs, it is a curious bird, it prefers to attack anthills on the ground than to bite trees like woodpeckers do to look for food, have a happy week my friend. Guillermo
It did have a curious behavior more typical of an anteater, it inserted its long tongue to capture the ants. Thanks for commenting, greetings. Guillermo
This species reminds me very much of a similar woodpecker bird we have here. The northern flicker. The behavior is similar...and the looks a bit too! Great vid
Hello, this bird only lives in Spain, it is very similar to the Picus viridis that is widespread in other territories, they are really beautiful. Thank you very much for your comment and information. Receives a warm greeting. Guillermo
Very cool footage of these woodpeckers! They closely resemble the size, shape and behavior or our Northern Flickers here in the Seattle area! Cheers, Declan 🐦🦉🤗
