This brought back memories from many moons ago. I was friends with a boy who lived in one of those houses. I loved the staircase inside and the big rooms. His father was making the basement into a flat at the time, but they had the rest of it. Behind the houses each house had its own garden but then there was a shared park. My memory was that it was big enough for a football pitch.
It was common practice in the 1500's and later to hold coroners inquests in the local pub as the cellars were cold and the body could be laid out for the coroner to view. We have a pub (Crown) where this used to happen.
That was really amazing!!! I LOVE hearing the history behind old buildings ect. I honestly have to say I'm really enjoying your channel. Keep up the fantastic work! I'm definitely subbing Adams channel.
The Gate House was on homes under the hammer a while ago and i am sure that the building which are flats was as well, as recognised the road you walked down they had big marble fire places and high ceilings with ornate plaster work and had a big garden/park at the front
What a nice place! Another interesting video. Good work. Hopefully I get the opportunity to visit the UK someday. And thank you for showing the gravestone!!
Are you going to Winchester at some point? Those old buildings are quite fantastic, even though the old town is getting a bit rough these days. Also it was nice how that guy was happy to chat after you told him you were filming a documentary.
I do like these videos, especially when your out side my front door talking to my neighbour about it haha. And yes at number 6 there is a huge safe in the basement that I was told was used by Winston Churchill.
That gate house; would love to live there as long I'm near the sea I'll be fine. Great video and very informative but one thing - why is the country so damn cloudy or wet!! England living up to its stereotype? Down here in NZ the weathers' getting warmer and the sun is shining!! Thanks once again and keep up the great work...
hi,I spoke to a lady a few years ago who owned the actual house Churchill stayed in. she stated that there was indeed a tunnel in the basement that led to Dover castle. although it had been filled in.hope this adds some light on the subject.
Another good vlog. Have you been in the tunnel between Tower Hamlets & St Radigunds the Ark in Tower Hamlet has the keys to the doors. i was told it has ww2 graffiti and believe the tunnel was used for aid raids for the hospital.
Where did you get your camouflage jacket with the German patch and darker cammo you have worn a few videos back. Like in the Cold War nuclear bunker video? Awesome videos btw Thanks!
Thanks i lived in dover for 12 yrs it was nice to see the familir streets😊 Hey come to canterbury its got the oldest church in uk here. St.martins church. And so much more!!
'Bricked-up' ? (-damn I hate that !) Another great upload mate. Always Fascinating to wonder at how and where people used to spend their lives. How different from today must it have been back then, that bunkers were in use here, in Britain ? I think we're all respectfully aware of what that actually means ! PEACE -Keep em coming brother. PEACE.
Hi Ian that gateway house appeared on homes under the hammer some time ago someone bought it as a holiday home and let it out I believe.I like your vids great stuff.

By the way I lived very near there in Maison Dueu road Andi had this very strange feeling there was some sort of tunnel underneath the property I lived in ... The reaction of that man living in Victoria park was a bit suspicious...almost like he was trying to get you guys away from there and the comment about the secret tunnel....hmmm
i grew up living at victoria park and your right churchhill did stay here an it was my old address , it is true there is a tunnel my dad found it when fixing up our home we also found secret rooms that was bricked up inside , there are 5 levels , they were used for officers an their familys to live in , the basement was used as kitchens an stored meats an food an the house maids lived top floor attic , when my dad first brought our house an old lady visited an asked to walk round as she worked there as a young child with her mother, my dad later found old victorian love letters hidden which he left hidden and letters regarding churchhill staying at the address i lived in , they r very haunted places to live , there is a private park at bk of these buildings to x
